Five

"-So, the clear quartz repersents balance- Hey, you over there, what did I just say?"

Jedi head snapped up, "Wha-"

I shrugged from my seat beside Annie as Professor Selenite walked in front of our table. Clouds parted, and the sun shone through. Erica snatched her paper as it was floating away with the wind.

"Hey, you," Professor Selenite pushed up her glasses to peer at Jedi, "What's the meaning of the clear quartz?"

Jedi rubbed his eyes as he answered, drawling slowly, "The clear quartz represents balance, and power, recognized as the crystal of truth in various places"

The professor glared at Jedi with a frown, then she turned around to address the remaining crystals.

Honestly I don't blame him, tree.. no, wood-reading was a pain. We didn't even get to start interpreting the messages provided by the wood-creatures until next class, crystal-healing is stupid, no matter what you say about it.

Annie hurriedly scribbled on her paper before sliding it to Erica and then Jedi. Jedi frowned as he mouthed the note, before passing it to me.

Follow my lead.

Jedi glanced at Annie before gesturing at the teacher.

Annie smiled sweetly as she raised her hand, "Uh, Professor Selenite?"

The professor put down the Black Tourmaline she was holding before replying, "Yes... Andrea?"

"Erica," Annie gestured to Erica sitting beside her, "has a migraine, so I would like to take her to the med"

Erica frowned slightly at Annie before putting her head in her hands and groaning.

Jedi's eyes lit up as he added on, "Me and Star should go too, Star could carry her bag, and I could make sure that she doesn't trip on our way down"

Professor Selenite squinted at us, as though she knew that it was a ruse.

Silence.

And...

"Alright, alright," She gestured to the way out, "Just go"

Annie pulled Erica up as I fetched our bags from underneath the table, Jedi hovered over them, pretending to make sure that they don't fall.

Man, I never knew that we were good at acting-

Erica mimed falling, which almost resulted in her actually falling, which made Annie slightly concerned, which made Jedi a little more skeptical about this.

"Sorry," She straightened up as we went out of sight of the wooden canopy, "Shouldn't have done that"

Annie shrugged as we made a turn and entered a small clearing, "It spiced up our day a little, so it's fine"

I smiled, temporarily forgetting about the fact that I messed up the spell, but whatever, we're fine.

Jedi crossed his arms, "So what did you do that for? You couldn't have done that for us just to hang out here"

Annie stuck out her tongue at Jedi, "Fine, fine, you got me. You know the spell that we used in battle? I found a way to translate it"

I froze.

"And I searched in the library last night," Jedi opened his mouth to protest but Annie continued, "Yes I know it was out of bounds, but we don't have time to lose"

Annie gestured for me to pass her bag, which was surprisingly heavier than the other bags.

She opened it, and then showed us a thick leather-bound book, "Yes, it was old. Yes, it was an artifact from a century ago. And yes, it's a journal"

Jedi made a move to open it, but Erica slapped his hand away, "We can't open it here, somebody would come by soon... Let's do it later"

Jedi wore a wounded expression as Annie dropped the book back into her bag.

We made our way out of the clearing, no problem.

And then rain fell, only a little bit.

I glanced at Jedi, trudging behind us, still wearing a hurt expression.
