Chapter Three: A Star of Her Own Show

(Two Weeks after the first infection)

Callie was on top of the roofs, enjoying a granola bar. She bit into it and then began to record another entry for the audio tape. She pressed play and started to speak. "Day 13. No progress. The infection only made shit worse. Well it's raining so there's that. At least I'm under an awning where it's dry." She then hears voices coming from the alley as she perked up. "Update on the survivor log.. Jackpot." She paused it again and puts the tape in her backpack and stayed on the down low, peeking over the railing as she puts on a cloak she stole off a dead body.

An old war veteran was leading the group through the alleyway and raised a hand to signal the others. "Hold on.." he knelt down as the others he had with him caught up to him. He dabbled his fingers in the gooey substance and muttered. "I ain't ever seen anything like this before." A biker man scoffed in disgust. "Jesus. Don't let that stop you from smearing that all over yourself." The older man got up and rubbed it off on his vest. "They're changing." "Ah! Damn it Bill! Oh that stinks." The Biker man complained as the other dude in the red tie laughed lightly. Callie did as well but stopped when she heard crying coming through the door. The others did too and the girl in the ponytail looked at the door. "Someone's still alive."

Callie watched the younger dude in the tie and the biker man stand guard in case other zombies came while the veteran and the other girl go in through the door. "Thank god I'm not the last woman on earth. That is if my friends are still alive.." She muttered to herself before she sees zombies coming their way. A scream from the girl zombie was heard and the other one saying "RUN LIKE HELL!!" Callie waited until she could help in anyway possible. A smoker catches the war veteran and she decided to take action, while the biker dude shot at it, she got the final blow with a shot of her pistol.

Francis sees the final blow not come from him, but was not paying attention as to who it was as he helped their fallen member up. He shoots at the other zombies headed their way. The other girl got out a pipe bomb as she screams "Fire in the Hole!" They all ducked down as the zombies went to the beeping noise, then it exploded. "Nice final shot on the smoker Francis." He looked to the other girl and shakes his head. "That was not me, Zoey." The final man sees a helicopter and runs to get its attention. "Hey! Down here! We're survivors! We're down here!!" He waved his arms around and watched it fly off. "Damn it!"

Then a Hunter pounced on him and Zoey butted it off of him and shot at it. It fell back on the car as it began ringing it's annoying alarm. Callie was watching the entire thing go down right before her eyes. "This is going to get ugly." As she watches the zombie hoard run to them, a muscular tank ran towards them, plowing through zombies. "Run or shoot?" Louis asked backing up. Callie couldn't contain her silence as she shouted. "ANSWER THE MAN! RUN OR SHOOT?!?!" Bill sees her figure and leads them back into the alleyway. "Go go go!!" They all head back in together as Callie sees them coming. She stayed hidden.

Louis and Zoey headed up the fire escape as Francis gets beaten down, and Bill smacked into a wall. Zoey shot at them with her double pistols. "Go! I'll hold them off!" She continues shooting at the other zombies. Bill scrambles up the fire escape as the Tank climbed up after them. Zoey almost fell backwards but jumped in time as Francis caught her hand. He pulled her up and she panted heavily. "We made it! I-I can't believe we made it." Louis laughed gently before they all see Callie leaning on the wall. "Din idiot. I krydsede lige gaden allesammen." She shakes her head at them. Zoey was confused at what she just told them. "Uhh... what?"

"She's saying we only crossed the street." Bill lights up a cigarette in his mouth and blew out the toxic air. "Let's not throw a party until we are out of the city." He got up and looked at the carnage brought upon them. Louis sees Callie's bag full of her stuff and he went over and handed it to her. "I believe that this is all your things, fellow survivor?" He asked and Callie lets down the hood of her cloak. "It's nice to see that there is more survivors." She moved some hair from her face as she adjusted her ponytail.

Everyone just stood there. Zoey let's out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank you. I thought I was the last woman on earth." Callie stretches. "Yeah. I get that feeling." She cracked her knuckles and looked over at the group. "I guess we should break the silence and introduce ourselves. I'm Zoey. This is Bill, Louis and right here is Francis." Callie nodded at them all. "Charmed. I'm Callie. Don't bother remembering it if you're going to leave me on an impulse." Louis was taken aback by this. "Now who said we were? Survivors got to stick together." Francis even tried to approach her. "Yeah, you don't seem the type of person to be-" that was before Callie grabbed his wrist in a tight fashion. "Ahh!! Ah! Okay, good thing we'll know you better!" Callie let's go of him.

"That's what I thought. I'm the star of my own show."
