Chapter 9: Fly Right Into my Heart.

After working their way off the boat and resting up in a greenhouse, the crew spots a carrier airplane heading for the airport. "Looks like the airport is still operating. We should head there." Zoey suggested. Bill nodded. "A C130 is nice flying." Francis grumbled out an "I hate planes." As Callie grabbed onto a pipe bomb. Throwing it over the wall, she heard the zombies across it crowd it before it blew up. She gave the other three to Louis, Bill and Francis before she took a Molotov. "Come on!" The five of them left the greenhouse before walking over wooden planks

Callie shuddered at the wooden planks as she crossed them. She felt like they would break at any second. "Ugh. I hate unsturdy shit like that." They head through an apartment complex before landing on a metal roof. "Up that ladder." Louis called as they headed up the ladder. After going through another apartment once more, Zoey spots a safe house in the hotel. "Hey look. Safe house!" As they got on top of a truck, a random horde came over the fence on their left. The gang began shooting at them before Callie accidentally shot a bullet at the car. It started ringing the siren and Bill just shouted "Go! Go!"

In all the chaos, Callie accidentally shoots Francis's shoulder. It did graze the skin enough to be noticeable. "Ah! Watch where you point that thing!" He told her as they shut the door and barricade it. Callie immediately began patching him up in a flash, saying "Undskyld. så ked af det." ("Sorry. So sorry.") Over and over again. Under her breath. Francis watched her and sighs. "I can't stay grumpy for you." When Callie finished, she just gave a small little laugh and sat next to him. She was really starting to connect with him on another level. It was just like they were made for each other. Two tough rock and sock em people. Zoey noticed the interaction and looked at the others. Bill opened the door and Louis and Zoey followed, giving the two some alone time.

"Oy where are you guys going?" Callie called. "Oh we're just going to clear the little area of anything. Catch up when you two are done with your conversation." Bill told her before going and taking down the zombies. Callie then looked at Francis. "So.. what's your story?" "Eh, before this shit went down, I got caught stealing a tv, tried to play it off being a cop grabbing evidence." He began. "Before I was shipped off to the slammer, I was just bragging about it to my friends and when my Ex wanted to talk, she ended up turning into one of them. Stayed with my friends to bust some zombies but they wouldn't have been much help like they have been." Callie listened with each word he said. "Sorry about your ex."

"It's fine. How about your friends? They give you a hard time?" Francis asked her. "Oh you don't know the half of it. Jemma is always so judgmental about my love life. I know she had her heart broken several times in the past, and I get it. She doesn't want me to go through what she did. Now she doesn't want to even date at all. I like independence." Callie told him and showed a picture of them all. "Other than her, they're all great friends. I gotta get back to Savannah and find them." She closes it again.

"I hate to say this, but I hope you do.. they seem like good people to you." Francis sighs gently and Callie blushed. "Well, thank you.. it kinda means something coming from someone like you." He laughed and tussled her head, and Callie tries to get him to let go. That's when the two finally lock a gaze. Callie sighs in defeat and just leaned in, giving him a quick kiss. It felt like it would have been now or never. She quickly got up and got another med kit and reloaded her gun. Callie was about to leave when..

Francis got a hold on her. Callie turned around and looked at him. "No more goofing around, Fran-" suddenly, he just went in like she did, only it felt longer. Callie and Francis pulled away after a little bit, and she was just speechless. "There. You got that out of your system at least? That was on me.." Francis spoke before catching up with the others. "Hey! This isn't over!" Callie called out and follows Francis
