Chapter 6: The Final Stretch

Callie boards up the door and stretched. She turned to Francis and gave him her bottle of pills. "Here. Take them. Hell I don't need them." She patched herself up and reloaded her gun. Her eyes look to him and the others. "Well since we're here, can we at least know more from you Callie?" Zoey asked her. "Ah alright. Well it wasn't my father who was the religious nut. It was my father's mother. I never had a strong relationship as she hurt my dad in the past." She crossed her arms. "My stepfather was a businessman. I have a twin brother but he disappeared." Everyone was shocked to hear this coming from her. "You're not alone. I lost family too. I had to shoot my own dad out of mercy." Zoey confided in her. Just to cheer Callie up in this uneasy and uncertain situation

Bill searches the hospital rooms. "Well at least some of the lights are on." He spoke before looking at some stairs to get to the next level. "I hate stairs." Louis tried to lift up the positive side. "It's good for you Bill. Cardio." Callie laughed lightly. "You know Louis? You're a good man. Kinda remind me so much of my own dad." Francis watched her and listened to her words. For a man that hates a lot of things, Callie is not one of them. She was witty, spunky.. perfect.

They continued making their way up the hospital till they reached the elevator. Zoey presses the button and got ready for the horde. Everyone steadied their weapons and the horde came to them. Bill shot down a Hunter while it was in the air. Louis had gotten vomited on by a boomer and had bile all over him. He began wiping it off as the horde attacked him. Callie threw a pipe bomb to distract them. The elevator took its time before it got to them. "Get on the elevator. It's here!" She told them all and dragged them inside. As a second horde wave began to come at them, Zoey closed the elevator as it crushed a hand of one of the zombies and it plopped on the floor. "Ooh. Gross." Francis looked at it in Disgust.

They went up to the highest floor that the hospital would get to. On the way, Zoey looked at the others. "You think that one day, this is all going to go back to normal?" She asked and Bill shakes his head no. "I don't see peace back on earth if I have to murder every single one of these bastards with my bare god damn hands." Callie nodded. "Damn straight." She blew some hair out of her face and looked at the lights. Francis turned to her. "Hey.." she looked him up and down. "I've always liked biker guys so you're gaining some extra points here."

The elevator stops and they step out. "We need to find roof access." Louis makes their way around the place, shooting zombies on the way. Then they hear another witch before seeing her. Callie sighs. "This crying is starting to get on my nerves. Hand me your sniper Zoey." Zoey handed it over and then Callie looked through the scope, focusing her shot at the head. She takes her shot and it insta downs her. Callie gave it back to her before they find the last safe room in the hospital and get inside

Zoey helped Louis clean up the stench of the boomer bile on him. "Well this is it. Hopefully the helicopter is there." Callie shrugged. "Yeah, but hey. At least we die with a good view of the city." She told them and passed out the two Molotovs and the two pipebombs out. "I also have a band group with 5 gals I really consider my best friends. We were performing in Georgia before all of this happened."

"Wasn't that the one where a hunter jumped at the audience and ate at a member of the crowd? I saw that on the news. I'm sorry about what happened." Bill told her. As they make their way, Callie picked up a two way radio for herself and then heard a voice come through it. "This is Jemma Von Miller. I have 4 other survivors with me, and we are currently stranded in an abandoned radio tower anchored off of Savannah Georgia." Callie immediately answered the call. "Jem!! Jem, you're alive!"

"Holy shit, Callie, Easy now. Are you ok? What happened?" Holly asked through the call. Zoey was happy there were more survivors on the journey. "I was under some extreme loneliness without you all. I should have just left that picture behind. It's all my fault we're separated." She looked like she was about to cry. Jada stopped this. "Callie, listen to us. I sent a distress signal. Hopefully the military caught it. When and if you come back to Savannah, we're regrouping at your summer home location. And keep the radio on." Callie nodded and strapped it to her belt.

The gang make their way on the roof and Louis goes to the radio on the table and alerts the pilot of the helicopter. Everyone prepared for what was ahead of them. Then the horde was sounded. "You hear that, we're being rescued." Callie got a hold onto the big machine gun implanted on top and began shooting at the zombies there. Francis grabs a first aid kit and then gets pulled away by a smoker. She notices this and takes it down. This time she was hanging from the ledge. Louis pulled her up and they continued fighting them all

After two tanks one by one had came, Zoey hears the helicopter. "The chopper is here. Come on now, let's go!" "Haul ass!" Bill called as they make their way to the helicopter. Callie looked at them as she was being surrounded by the zombies but she found a Molotov and threw it down. She ran through the doors and up the walkway, jumping and catching onto the left landing skid and she sits down in one of the seats. The helicopter takes off. This was the start of a long adventure.
