Cardinalkit and Smokekit have passed away from whitecough. Harmonyleaf is suffering from severe grief. Whisperingspirit is now grieving. Nectarnose doesn't even attend the vigil. When confronted by a screaming, crying, grieving Whisperingspirit, he shrugs and says he was tired and wanted to sleep.

Duckpaw is given the warrior name of Duckfloat, honoured for his persistence. As the clan calls his new name, he looks up at the stars, wondering if his parents are watching and proud. As if in response, two stars twinkle just a little bit brighter.
