Chapter 12, Revelations.
As Matheus awoke he found himself suspended a few feet above the ground in what seemed to be a chamber. Restraints were keeping his movement to a minimum.
He slowly opened his eyes to the bright white light glaring throughout the room. It was enough to make him squint, but after a few seconds, his eyes adjusted.
He also became aware of three individuals, who after a few moments, he realized one of which was his goddess of a grandmother, Tyna.
Tyna smiled gently as she took a step forward.
"Good, you're awake," she said as Matheus shook himself from his lethargy.
'Where..where am I?" He asked slowly.
The girl to Tyna's left, took a step forward this time and Matheus immediately took notice of her statue
"I am Eba, the goddess of life," she stated simply.
The one calling herself Eba stood at a solid 5,6 feet tall, with long but very thick brown hair and she had a lovely color of brown skin and her white dress seemed to flow in the wind, even though there was no wind, to begin with within the room.
"E-Eba?" he stammered, was he in trouble with the very gods themselves-?
The women on the other side of Tyna now stepped forward, she had a more serious and slightly angered aura to her.
She stated in a crisp tone, "I am Makura..the goddess of Nature."
Makura stood slightly taller than Eba at a solid six feet tall, her dark brown hair ended in curls as her stormy dark eyes seemed to bore into Matheus's soul.
"A-am I in trouble-?"
Tyna chuckled gently, "No, you are not, you have done well Matheus. So please don't hold yourself accountable for what I am about to tell you."
Matheus felt his pulse quicken as his heart hammered against his chest as he muttered, "My tribe... they're dead aren't they?"
He hoped the answer was a no.
Tyna sighed grimly, "Not officially no, most may say so as..well you're the last member of your tribe that survived."
Matheus felt as if his heart had been torn out of his chest, ripped in two, and had then shoved back into his chest.
He fell silent as he tried to process the information. He wasn't ready to continue, but Tyna began to speak again.
"But your tribe is not gone, it's memories, it's thoughts and feelings that you felt as a collective group still exist..within you."
"Anyway, we are wasting too much time and we don't have long. We have to inform him and send him off to be trained," Makura cut in
Tyna and Eba sighed.
Then Tyna turned and looked at Matheus, "Right, right. We have brought you here not only to heal but educate you. You will be brought to a secret area to be trained until your body can handle the power of being the huntsmen."
Matheus tilted his head as Boiuna began to speak.
"Do not fear Matheus. The training is merely to educate you and teach you to control your newfound powers," she said quietly in his mind.
"The three guardians will remain in your mind until you decide to pass on the mantle of the huntsman. They will offer their forms of assistance in times of need and keep you company," said Eba.
"So..what else do you need to tell me?" he asked the three gods.
"A day of great and immense change will happen in the far future. Who, cannot say for certain, but one who walks alone will come to you for assistance, it is preferred that you agree to help the man, as the adventure that happens afterward will teach you lessons even I cannot teach you, " said Tyna.
"We will try to guide you to the best of our ability till that day comes, " said Eba.
"Do not let us down," said Makura sternly.
"And what will those lessons be?" asked Matheus.
"All will be revealed in due time," said Tyna with a smirk.
Matheus deadpanned that line again. It was starting to annoy him.
Matheus then asked, "What happened to my real parents?"
Tyna sighed sadly, "Your mother died giving birth to you, and she along with your father-the former chieftain knew of my existence as a god, and she assigned you to my care, your father was killed by Ahex-the same man leading the army against your tribe.".
Sadness welled inside him, but it was quickly replaced by fiery rage.
"When can I kill Ahex?" he growled.
Tyna said nothing as Eba sighed and Makura nodded.
"You will get your revenge one day..as for now, you need to go with Tyna and Eba to-what is it?" Makura's voice trailed off as a knock on the door to the chamber was heard.
Makura sighed and turned around and said irritated.
"I thought I said I didn't wanna be disturbed-" her voice stopped as the door opened and an angel-critically wounded collapsed on the floor.
He choked out.
"T-the son of S-shad-he's here..HERE'S HERE!" before he stopped moving and his body dissolved into light and vanished.
A trio of angels rounded the corner to defend the gods. They barely made it to the chamber as the gods whipped around to face each other. The metal wall behind them exploded and shrapnel flew across the room. The guards were peppered to death by the tiny pieces of metal.
Smoke filled the hallway and if you looked closely you could see the faintest outline of a tall man with a strong build. He was armed with a sword and a dagger-that glowed as he slowly made his way to the chamber.
Makura turned to Tyna.
"Tyna get him out of here now. I'll hold him off!" she said as she summoned a pair of swords charged with elemental energy.
Eba stepped up and said, "I'll stay too."
Tyna clenched her jaw then said, "he'll kill you"
"if it is to delay it, and stop him then that is what I must do," said Eba grimly.
"Even if he destroys me, I am a nature goddess you'd have to destroy all of nature to kill me, I'll reform some time later if he does beat me," said Makura
Tyna hesitated then looked to Matheus.
"We need to go. Now," before Matheus could make sense of what was really happening, Tyna picked him up and extended her wings. She took off, carrying him out the window.
The last scene he saw of the two goddesses was Makura charging headlong into the fight, with Eba behind her, magic flaring around her hands.
Matheus only hoped they would survive, and if they were defeated, that their sacrifice wouldn't be in vain.
He would be sure of it if it was the last thing he would do.
