Hi, Holls, darling.
Thanks for all your emails. So glad to hear you're enjoying yourself. Shall refrain from being superior and saying that I told you so.
Like the two songs you've sent through. It's sweet of you to try to prove you're actually working - just tell me next time, there's a love. I trust you enough for you not to have to prove it to me by sending every little thing over as audio files. The sound quality's awful on my computer, anyway.
Just make a tape up, and we can work with that when you come back in a month's time.
One thing you could send over, though, talking of those pipes, is a list of other instruments and so on that you'll need, so I can book them for the session. I've taken a chance on your new-found burst of creativity and am looking around for a studio slot or two. I'll send you some dates/times over when I've got some. How many days do you think you'll need for a first session?
In other news, I might have a couple of days for you, sessioning for one of these up-and-coming poster-boy singers. They want an acoustic guitar and a mandolin for a couple of tracks. I'm told his sound's 'sensitive and melodic', whatever the crap that's supposed to mean: sounds to me he's been watching too much X Factor. Anyway, I've persuaded them you can do backing vocals too, which should make it up to a full three days.
Let me know if you fancy it. It's OK money, considering, and you get the sleeve note credit.
Love,
Bri x

Hi Brij.
If things carry on at this rate, I'll need a week in the studio! Yesterday was a day of reading and pottering, but I got some lovely ideas for things. They kind of swirled around in my mind when I was walking to the pub, then swirled a bit more while I was walking back - along with the rest of the world, actually, I must confess. The brother-in-law was there in the pub, and he and his drinking buddies and I rediscovered the craic like it was going out of fashion.
So yeh, the songs are beginning to come along. Give me a couple of days, and I'll have an idea of how long we'll need in the studio. I should know what sort of backing I'll need then, too.
Count me in on that studio session. Sounds interesting, to me if not to you.
OK, got to dash. I'm going to get a ticket for that coach trip, and maybe go round the museum this afternoon.
Catch you later.
H x
