Chapter 4 - The Rise of the Four

"CliffPaw! CliffPaw! I swear to Starclan CliffPaw if you don't-" the Windclan warrior never got to finish he sentence as a small apprentice landed on her back. "Oof!"

"I'm right here LeopardBriar." He giggled getting off. The apprentice was small, in fact he could've nearly been mistaken for a large kit, though his perosnality defiantly was of one. "Yeah. I got that." She grunted standing up and watched her apprentice slide off and land on the ground with a soft thud.

"So what are we doing today?" He asked excitedly as they both padded into the endless green rolling hills. "Are we tracking? No, hunting! Ooh! Are we practicing our offense and defense?"

"If you give me a second I will tell you." She interrupted and for once he went silent. "Today we are doing border patrol."

"Aww, whaaat." He whined but with one glare he fell silent silently mumbling something under his breath.

"You go left and I'll got right. We'll meet back at camp." She said before walking off leaving the bored apprentice by himself. "LeopardBriar was his mother's sister, making her his aunt. She was kind at times though she was a bit of a loner. Sometimes he thought that maybe she hated him for the fact that his father had been a loner making him only half clan blood. He began walking the scent of prey made his mouth water and he crouched down automatically. Surely LeopardBriar wouldn't mind if he did a bit of hunting for himself.

He stalked closer not caring if the rules told him to feed the clan first. He leapt into the air and landed just as the rabbit jumped out of the way. The grey tom didn't give up and soon gave chase dodging and leaping after the rabbit. His grey eyes following the rabbit. "Foxdung!" He hissed as the rabbit stood right next to the border of Shadowclan.

Surely he could get to it before it crossed the border. Technically it was still on Windclan territory. The rabbit stood there staring at him. Neither one dared move and neither of them got a chance as a sleek black tom jumped out from Shadowclan territory and land on the rabbit instantely killing it with a killed bite to the neck. Cliifpaw jumped with fear.

Compaired to him the tom was very tall and long. He was black all over with strong blue eyes that seemed to stare through him. The shadowclan apprentice put a paw over his kill, which was now on his side of the border, his eyes dared him to fight. CliffPaw just stood there. The tom could almost have been completely perfect if it wasn't for the three longs scars going down his side and his torn left ear. He was going to say something but didn't get a chance as the Shadowclan apprenitce grabbed his prey and left.

"Rude." CliffPaw muttered to himself before continuing his boring boarder patrol.

OakStar was staring up at the sky, tomorrow was the Gathering and the cool night breeze sent chills down his back. He looked up at the moon from on top if Highrock in silence. He still had no idea whether or not to allow Riverclan to hunt in Thunderclan territory. If he said no, fights will break out but if he said yes it would mean less prey for his clan. He sighed. "Starclan, please help me decide. What will come of the clans?"

There was no noise or sign of any kind and the leader sat there again in silence. "Can't sleep?" OakStar looked and saw CedarFur, Thunderclan's medicine cat, walk up to him and sitting by his side.

"Everything's all so complicated." The leader looked up at the sky once more.

The medicine cat looked up with him and was about to say something when she suddenly fell silent. Her breath became quicker and her eyes flicked quickly in different directions. "CedarFur?" OakStar said and she suddenly blinked. "CedarFur what did you see?"

The she-cat looked at him. "StarClan has a prophecy."
