Chapter 1 - You and What Army?

The cats panted as they ran through the familiar forest. The smells of Bloodclan closing in. "What is going on?" A large tabby asked his companions.

"Haven't you heard ArrowFur?" one replied, "Bloodclan has invaded Sunningrocks."

"How dare they!" ArrowFur growled back, his eyes full of rage.

"I've heard we aren't the first to have been invaded. Windclan claimed that their camp was attacked by Bloodclan warriors at last moons Gathering, don't you remember?"

"Yes SwiftGaze; I remember." ArrowFur glanced at the small she-cat, who was overtaking him by just a paw step. The band of Thunderclan warriors slowed as they reached Sunningrocks, their ears pricked and hackles raised. "Look at them!" A tom hissed, "Lying on Sunningrocks like it's their Highrock, they're scaring away all the prey too." The furious cat took a step forward but was blocked by a golden tom with glowing amber eyes.

"Patience DarkStripe, remember these cats aren't like other clans warriors, they've taken dogs on single-handedly. Our only chance of winning this is by using the element of surprise." His gaze remained calm as he studied the Bloodclan cats, who hadn't noticed them there yet.

"What do you suggest we do LionEye?" Swiftgaze meowed silently to his side.

"Go around the other side, I'll go in a distract them while you do so." He replied his eyes staring at the cat who he recognised as the Bloodclan deputy. "When I give the signal, jump out from behind." The cats nodded before separating and walking around either side of Sunningrocks. All the Bloodclan warriors tensed when LionEye stepped out into the clearing his face expressionless, hiding all the feelings that rolled around inside him. "Well, well, well look who came to visit us." A cat from the top of the rock pile grinned, gracefully jumping in front of the golden tom and giving him a superior look. He was smaller than him but then again he had always been bigger than most. He was also more sleek, while LionEye had always had quite a strong muscular build. The Deputy's fur was black with dapples of orange and a long orange tail that look like it could belong to a scorpion, his claws were as sharp as needles.

"I don't want to fight." The wise warrior ignored the young deputy and looked for occasionally watching the black and orange tom.

"Oh well that's such a same; cause we do." He grinned showing off all his sparkling white teeth, the collar of dog teeth hung around his neck like a medal of honour.

"Scorpion, can't we talk this out like civilized cats?" LionEye raised a furry eyebrow as the tom strutted around him, his long tail flicking slowly side to side as if he had no worry in the world.

"Let me guess what you're going to say." He purred as he circled LionEye calmly. "You're gonna ask me to hand over your precious Sunningrocks, even though you know that there is no chance that will ever happen?"

"Was worth a shot wasn't it." A grin crept its self into Scorpion's expression making him chuckle slightly and shake his head while standing an inch in away from LionEye's face. Although he was small, even for a cat, he stood with a pride that would make even the strongest of warriors shiver slightly from fear, except for LionEye who kept his face expressionless the whole time.

"Poor, poor LionEye. Yes, that's right I know your name." He answered the question hanging in the warrior's mind. "I know quite a lot of things actually. You'd be surprised by what I know."

"May I ask where you get your info from and why you are here?"

Scorpion and the other Bloodclan warrior laughed at his words. "Ha! You think I'm so stupid that I'd just tell you what my master's plans are and what he is going to do to this retched forest?" He laughed.

"Really? I didn't know that your 'master' had any plans so; thanks for the info." LionEye calmly grinned as Scorpions laughs came to a sudden stop and he glared at him. "Now I am going to give you one more chance to leave Sunningrocks and never return."

"Never!" The tom lazily laid back down on top of the rock pile, looking down at him. "This is Bloodclan territory now."

"Fine then, I guess we'll have to do this the hard way." The cats chuckled again.

"You and what army?" Scorpion grinned mischievously.

"This one." Was all LionEye said as he flicked his bushy tail, giving the signal and the warriors of Thunderclan sprang from the bushes, diving at the surprised Bloodclan cats. All that happened next happened in a blur. LionEye sprung at Scorpion and expertly was able to dig his claws into his back and throw them both off the rocks making them both tumble down to the ground. The two cats gasped dazed before Scorpion attacked him, trying to reach his underbelly. But, LionEye was quick and was just able to slip out of his grasp before cuffing him behind the ear.

The two yowled at each other, each time Scorpion would hit LionEye he would return it with an equally effective one. Gradually the cats of Bloodclan would run away into the shadowing forest, their growls of pain and lust for revenge sounded throughout the growing night. After tossing Scorpion off him, hissing all the way he said in a loud booming voice. "Leave Scorpion! Or in our next battle, there will be no mercy!"

"You surprised me, but mark my words it'll be you who are surprised when we destroy your precious woods!" He hissed before leaping into the maze of trees leaving the Thunderclan warriors panted and wincing at their bleeding wounds. SwiftGaze was lying on the ground unmoving, her side bleeding and staining the grass beneath her. LionEye walked over to the small she-cat and nudged her gently with his nose. Only to get no reaction.

"Oh, SwiftGaze." He whispered bowing his head sadly at the terrified face of his former apprentice. She who had died so young and so innocent, she who had only be named a warrior a few moons ago was now dead. Just like that. "SwiftGaze!" ArrowFur's panicked voice sounded from behind him as the young cat ran to his now-dead mate.

A rustle came from the bushes as a patrol of Thunderclan cats walked out into the scene, along with them followed Cedarfur, Thunderclan's medicine cat and her apprentice FernPaw. A horrified expression came over the medicine cats face as she turned to her apprentice. "FernPaw please go back to camp and prepare a space in my den for these injured cats." The young tom nodded and dove away into the bushes a few warriors following behind.

"What has happened?" LionEye looked up to see a light brown Persian tomcat with long rings of white around his coat and Amber eyes gracefully leap out from behind the crowd of cats. It was OakStar, Thunderclans wise and trustworthy leader, followed by his deputy, HareFoot, a sleek reddish-orange Tabby tom, with huge paws one of which had a long white sock on it. "We were on our border patrol when we smelt the scent of Bloodclan near Sunningrocks."

"And you just thought you should go and face them alone." The tom's expression remained calm.

"Well, we did send back SwiftGaze's apprentice, AshPaw, back to tell you."

"Yes, I got the message. Yet it seems that I didn't get it soon enough." He looked down at SwiftGaze, moved towards her and put his nose up against hers. "She was a brave and loyal warrior. AshPaw and SparrowPaw will be sad to hear of her passing."

"I can go tell them myself?"

"Yes, it may be best that they hear it from you." With a twitch of his ear, he dismissed the warriors and together they padded back to camp.
