Welcome to U.A.!

"Toa! Hurry up! We're going to miss the train!" I shouted back to my sister as I ran through the crowds. Today's the first day at U.A. If we make the train, we'll be fine. But if we miss it . . . Well we better not.

"Wait up!" Toa shouted. I turned, running backwards. Toa struggled to keep up. Her long hair kept on moving in her flustered face. She wore U.A. Highs uniform perfectly, but running like that kinda loses It's effect.

"It's your fault if we're late! Stopping for something like that." She panted.

I laughed and turned back. "It was the special ice-cream! He only makes ten a day! Now c'mon! We're almost there!" I laughed, picking up my pace. "Ayame!" Toa whined, making me laugh more.

You would think she'd built up some stamina from the summer training we did together. Well, partly. I did some with her, some by myself, and even some with Katsuki. I've been training for as long as I could remember. Toa has only been training her body for about a year or two now. She had been focusing mostly on her Quirk.

But her Quirk is a bit trickier than most. Telekinesis. So much potential, it takes a lot of the mind. Her mentality is strong.

Her body . . .

I glanced over my shoulder. She's lagging behind, struggling to keep up.

Not so much, huh? "We're almost there." I called, spotting the station.

Weaving around the crowd, I jumped it. "The doors are now closing." The automated voice spoke. Uh-oh.

I turned to see Toa not too far. I held my hand out for her. She immediately grabbed it as soon as she could, the doors beginning to close. With one yank, I pulled her in before they shut.

Toa bent over and grasped her knees, gasping for air. I tilted my head at her. "That's actually not a helpful stance to breathe." I simply told her. She just shot me a nasty glare.

I held my hands up in defense. "Geez. What would happen if we missed the train?" Toa grumbled.

I just grinned and grabbed a bar. "But we didn't~." I sang, the smile never leaving my face. She just shook her head at me.

She pulled out her phone and stared at the screen. "Are you sure it was okay not to tell Izuku we know about what's going on? We haven't seen him all summer. Even before summer." She murmured.

I shrugged, watching the scenery as we passed on through. "He was busy training. He had to. To be able to hold Uncle Toshinori's power, his body had to be ready." I simply told her.

Izuku has been working hard all this time. Trains every morning, goes to school, then trains till night. He had no time to hang out. One For All would destroy him. He had to become the ideal vessel.

My only worry is he was made a vessel very hastily.

One For All is very destructive, especially to a body that's not ready.

So we haven't really gotten time to talk. And even if we did, it'd only distract him. Now that he has the power and is on a steady routine, we can tell him later. Maybe even today. Start by telling him that All Might is really our uncle. Something we can't tell anyone.

He's the most powerful Hero. The Number One. His identity, his Quirk, his life must remain a secret. We have never told anyone about him. Or dad. It's for his safety.

But now that Izuku knows one of the biggest secrets kept from society, he can probably know this too. I wish Katsuki knew too. That way those I care about know.

Then again, going to U.A. I hope to make more friends. Not fake ones like from Junior High. I hope I make a lot of friends.

High School is going to be different.

We soon arrived at the station and headed for U.A. "Does Bakugo know that you're going to U.A.?" I nodded, humming a random tune. "Yep. He knows that we're both going." I answered, having a skip to my step.

"Does he know we're recommendation students?" She propped. To that, my skipping stopped.

"Mhm." She mused, a small smile on her face. Bakugo won't hurt Toa. But he's definitely going to pick a fight with me.

He's going to get all pissy. And that kid can hold a grudge. We get in fights all the time but they don't usually last that long. This time though, it definitely will.

That's why I didn't say anything. Maybe I can keep it a secret! Ah, that's not good. Friends shouldn't keep secrets.

Ah man. Things are going to get really loud soon, I can tell.

"Ayame, look." Toa pointed forward. I snapped out of my thoughts and admired the extremely large building we're nearing. "Looks like someone has a little too much money to spend." I mused, tilting my head as I examined the glass building.

She nodded, her own eyes wide. Personally, we've never been, but we met the principle a couple times.

Lots of kids our age also stared at the building in awe. "Alright, let's get to it!" I shouted, running forward. "Wha?! Ayame!" Toa complained, running after me. I just laughed, running straight into the building without any hesitation.

I already know what class I'm in. Same as Toa, and thanks to some prodding from Uncle Toshinori, also Katsuki and Izuku. There's no way I can be calm! This is going to be the start of a new era! The road to becoming a Hero! This is my beginning.

Just like it was dads, moms, and Uncle Toshinori's.

I heard voices before spotting a familiar boy in front of the large classroom door. "I~zu~ku!" I shouted, throwing my arms around his neck and leaning on the shorter boy. "Waa! Huh? Aya-Chan?" He couldn't help but use my childhood nickname. He does it whenever he's surprised or not thinking.

I grinned widely and looked over inside the classroom. "Ah. Katsuki! Ya-ho!" I raised my hand in a greeting. He just clucked his tongue.

I frowned at that. "Eh? So cold." I pouted, releasing Izuku and walking in. I glanced over at the rest of the class who's watching curiously.

I grinned. "Hey! My names Yagi Ayame. Nice to meet you." I spoke with confidence. Most of them smiled, relaxed by my presence.

I'm very easy to get along with, so that's good.

Toa finally arrived, slightly out of breath. "Why must you always be running?" She complained. But my grin didn't falter. "It's nice to work the muscles though! Feels great, huh?" I asked her. She didn't look amused. Not in the least bit. But I didn't let it bother me. It's the first day!

"Oh! That curly hair! You're the plain looking one!" A girl said, appearing behind Toa and Izuku. "Pft." I slapped my hand over my mouth, trying not to laugh. She kept on talking, but Izuki looked like he was in shock. Flustered, yes, but also in shock.

Oh yeah. He's never been good with girls. The only reason he can talk to me and Toa is because we're childhood friends. So this is kind of amusing.

Izuku turned bright red and avoided eye contact, trying to communicate with her. I just laughed. This is interesting.

Hm? Katsuki's glaring at Izuku, but he's not going after him. My oh my, what's going on here?

I turned to Toa. "So, do you think this school does assigned seats too?" I asked curiously. She rolled her eyes at me. "All schools do it Ayame."

I pouted, shoulders slumping. "Ahh. That's no fun. Well, whatever. So who am I next to? Ah, the board!" I grinned, running over to it. "Hm, let's see. I sit beside Mineta and Tokoyami. Ah! Toa, you sit in front of me." I turned and looked over at the students. Um, Mineta should be, ah! The short one.

As I was heading over, a new, gruff voice spoke from the doorway, behind Izuku and the others. "Go somewhere else if you want to play at being friends. Huh? I turned to see a man in a yellow sleeping bag. He . . . he looks like a bum. "This is the Hero Course."

S-Somethings here! What is he?! He stood, still in the sleeping bag, and unzipped it. "Okay, it took eight seconds before you were quiet. Time is limited. You kids are not rational enough."

What the? He's a teacher? No. Impossible. I don't believe it. Because that would mean he has to be a Pro Hero. And I don't know any Hero that looks like he sleeps under a bridge.

"I'm your homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shota. Nice to meet you."

Now that doesn't sound sincere. And I would like to see his teaching degree.

He dug inside his bag and pulled out gym uniforms. "It's kind of sudden, but put this on and go out onto the field." What the? Well . . . if it's what the teacher says I guess we gotta. We all got up, grabbed a uniform and headed to the locker room to change. Once in our gym uniform, we met out at the field per his instruction.

"A Quirk Assessment Test?!" The students repeated in disbelief. Well, I guess it makes sense. "What about the entrance ceremony? The orientation?" The bubbly girl Izuku was kind of talking to questioned.

Toa stood next to Izuku and I stood next to her. "If you're going to become a Hero, you don't have time for such leisurely events." He's got a point.

But the way he says it is putting a damper on the mood. "U.A.'s selling point is how unrestricted its school traditions are. That's also how the teachers run their classes. You kids have been doing these since Junior High too, right? Physical fitness tests where you weren't allowed to use your Quirks. The country still uses averages taken from results from students not using their Quirks. It's not rational. Well, the Ministry of Education is procrastinating. Bakugo, you finished at the top of the practical exam, right?"

Eh? Katsuki did? Well I expect no less from my greatest rival. Katsuki looked over at me, a triumphant look in his eyes. I internally snorted.

I bet I would have beaten him.

"In Junior High, what was your best result for the softball throw?" Softball throw? Ah, yes. Katsuki and I tied for the best record.

Every single time.

Like always.

"Sixty-seven meters." He answered. Aizawa-Sensei nodded. "Then try doing it with your Quirk."

He led us to the ball throw area, where Katsuki went up first. "You can do whatever you want as long as you stay in the circle. Hurry up. Give it all you've got." He tossed Katsuki a softball. Katsuki stretched his throwing arm a bit. "Then, well . . ." He got into pitching stance. When he threw, right at the end, he set off a large explosion, sending the ball farther.

"DIE!" He shouted as he did so.

"Die?" Toa and Izuku blinked. I just laughed at it. Same old Katsuki. I put my hand above my eyes and watched as the ball fell from far away. "Know your own maximum first. That is the most rational way to form the foundation of a Hero." He held up the phone and it read 705.2 meters.

People gasped in surprise, but I just stared at the screen in determination. I'm going to beat that score. That'll wipe the smug look off his face.

The other students started to get riled up, thinking it's gonna be fun. Which I totally think it is! "'It looks fun' huh? You have three years to become a Hero. Will you have that attitude the whole time?" Huh?

What's gotten into him? He smiled, but it was very dark. Uh-oh. That doesn't seem good.

"Alright. Whoever comes in last place in all eight tests will be judged to have no potential and will be punished with expulsion."

Huh?

"HUH?!" We all shouted in disbelief. He cannot be serious! No, but he looks dead serious!

Well, I should be fine. So should Toa and Katsuki. But Izuku . . . "We're free to do what we want about the circumstances of our students." He brushed his hand over his hair, his eyes holding a pretty sadistic look. "Welcome to U.A.'s Hero Course."

So I stood tall, taking in his words. "Natural disasters, big accidents, and selfish Villains. Calamities whose time or place can't be predicted. Japan is covered in unfairness. Heroes are the ones who reverse those situations. If you wanted to go talk with your friends at Mickey D's after school, too bad. For the next three years, U.A. will do all it can to give you one hardship after another. Go beyond. Plus Ultra. Overcome it with all you've got."

This is not what I expected when I signed up. But I won't back down! Nothing will stop me from my dream.

Not even you, Sensei.

Since the demonstration was over, we started. The first is a 50 meter sprint. In it, I witnessed some impressive Quirks. Like the class president looking one who has engines in his legs. This is definitely in his field. But my Quirk doesn't just make me strong.

I can channel that strength into my legs as well. It goes by many names, all of which arent quite it but close enough. Enhanced Body is what they decided on. And while I'm inhumanly strong, im also inhumanly fast.

When it was my turn, Toa did it with me. The robot on the end signaled for us to start and I didn't hesitate to lunge forward. The starting point where I was dented, but only that part was destroyed.

"3.07 seconds." Yes! Awesome!

I waited for Toa as she ran past the line. "7.05 seconds." Toa panted a bit. "Why is it always running?" She complained. I just laughed. She's never been a fan of it. She doesn't have the most stamina out there. But that was pretty good.

Next is grip strength. Hmph. Grip strength with the girl who can do push ups with a double decker bus? Yeah, easy peasy.

Smirking, I used full strength and-crack!

Huh? I sweat dropped and opened my hands. The pieces of the device fell to the floor. "WHAT?!" A few of my classmates exclaimed.

Next test is the standing long jump, which I did great at. Without my Quirk, I always did well on these sort of things. But with it it's just so much better.

The side step wasn't bad either, but that tiny Mineta had us all beat. The ball throw was also a success. When I threw it the wind picked up violently and it went pretty far. Tied with Katsuki's. But Toa and that Uraraka girl got us beat. Apparently Uraraka's Quirk is Zero Gravity and her score is infinity! Toa used her telekinesis to take it so far no one could see it anymore.

Hers wasn't infinity considering she has to either know where it is or see it, but she came in second with ease.

Last up in this is Izuku. Then the last three tests.

He stood in the center and eyed the ball, thinking hard. He looks so damn nervous. Grinning, I threw my fist in the air and used my other hand to cup my mouth so my voice was louder. "GO IZUKU! You can do it!" I cheered loudly, waving my arm. Toa cupped her hands around her mouth. "Deep breath! You got this!" She encouraged.

Katsuki clucked his tongue. "He's not going to get a decent score." I jabbed my fingers between his ribs making him shout. "What the hell Ayame?!" He roared, the vein on his forehead popping.

My own temple throbbed in annoyance. "You shut it! Leave Izuku alone Katsuki." I hissed. We growled at one another. Toa looked at us and sighed.

"It doesn't look good for Midoriya if he continues like this." The glasses guy spoke, eyes trained on Izuku. "Huh? Of course not. He's a Quirkless small fry you know."

Ah. There's also this problem.

Glasses looked at Katsuki in disbelief. "Quirkless?! Are you not aware of what he did in the entrance exam?"

"Huh?" Uh-oh. This is going to be a fiery mess. Well, at least he won't be as mad when he finds out that I'm a recommendation student. But fighting with me would be easier than fighting with Izuku.

But Izuku hasn't been using One For All at all today. Uncle Toshinori mentioned he had some problem during the exam, but he's really lost on this. I don't blame him. It's new. And it's extremely powerful. It's not easy to learn. Not to mention it was all in a haste.

Izuku grit his teeth and brought his hand with the ball back. I could vaguely see it. Or rather sense it. Growing up with the power, it's something I've been able to tell when used. With dad and Uncle Toshinori. He's doing it!

Suddenly it was gone and the ball was only thrown a short distance. Huh? Izuku looked at his hands in disbelief. What happened?

Huh? Aizawa-Sensei's hair was up, his scarf unravelled like bandages, moving a bit. "I erased your Quirk." He spoke. Huh? He erased his Quirk?!

What the-how? What? What kind of Quirk can erase others? "That entrance exam was definitely not rational enough. Even a kid like you was accepted." He narrowed his now glowing red eyes on Izuku.

Ah. His eyes, his quirk, the fact that he has killer dry eyes. Is that how this works? "You erased my Quirk?" Izuku then gasped, eyes going wide in disbelief. "Those goggles . . . I see! You can erase other people's Quirks with your Quirk just by looking at them. The Erasure Hero: Eraser Head!" Izuku exclaimed.

Eraser Head? Huh? Ah! I've heard of him! He's only a underground Hero! He shys away from the press.

I never thought I'd ever see him. Let alone him being our homeroom teacher.

Our classmates began to chatter, trying to remember such a Hero.

Something moved in my peripheral vision. I turned and sweat dropped. "Uncle Toshinori." I whispered to myself. Toa barely heard me and followed my line of sight and sweat dropped as well. He's in All Might form. What is he doing?

Is he worried about Izuku? Us? Jeez. What a worrywart.

"From what I can tell, you can't control your Quirk, can you?" Sensei's voice brought me out of my thoughts. "Do you intend to become incapacitated again and have someone save you?"

Ouch. He's really laying into him. "Th-That's not my intention-" The bandag like scarf lunged forward and wrapped around Izuku and brought him closer to Sensei.

"Whatever your intention, I've saying that's what those around you will be forced to do. In the past, there was an oppressively passionate Hero who saved over a thousand people by himself and created a legend. Even if you have the same reckless valor, you'll just be decked and turn into a useless doll after saving one person. Midoriya Izuku. With your power, you can't become a Hero."

"Hey!" Toa began, anger clouding her face as she stepped up. I clenched my fists in anger, trying my hardest not to wail on our Sensei. Katsuki reached out and grabbed both our shoulders, shaking his head.

I shook in rage. How dare he? His hair fell down, his eyes returned to their original color, and the bandages went back to being the strange scarf. "I've returned your Quirk. You have two turns for the ball throw. Hurry up and get it over with."

Man he's really ticking me off! Anyone can be a Hero. "Don't listen to him Izuku! You can become a great Hero!" I shouted. Toa nodded in agreement. "Yeah! And then everyone who doubted you will be laughed at!" She said, shooting our teacher a glare.

"Go, go, Izuku!" I cheered loudly from the sidelines. "Shut up! You're so damn annoying!" Katsuki shouted. I glared at him.

"Huh?! You shut it you damn pyro!" We went head to head. "Huh?!"

This damn punk. I'm gonna wipe that look off his face. "Ayame! He's throwing!" Toa pulled on my sleeve. Ah!

I turned my attention back to Izuku as he threw. I sensed it. I saw it. I felt it. One For All . . . it's in his index finger!

The wind whipped wildly as the ball soared far away. The others made sounds of surprise, haven't seen it before. That power. Similar to my own, but the real deal.

Uncle Toshinori's. Dads. One For All.

Izuku is indeed the next successor.
