NightWings' whole lives are based around the moons of Pyrrhia. They're lives are actively held at night when the moons are out, their young are hatched under their benevolent, power-giving light, etc.

Some very superstitious NightWings wear moon jewelry when the moons are out. They say the jewelry enhances and heightens not only the NightWing's senses, but their powers, and even gives powers to NightWings who were never moon-born in the first place.
