"Avuuu!! Wake up you sleepy ass!" Sonia aunty yelled across the corridor

Sonia aunty walked in to Avu's room and saw Avu wasn't on the bed; she hadn't seen Avu sleeping on the floor

"Haye, ab ye ladki kahan gayi??" She murmured to herself

"AVU!" Sonia aunty yelled

Avu flinched due to the shout

"Ma! What is it?" She said, rubbing her eyes

Sonia aunty looked at the floor.

"What the hell are you doing lying on the floor?"

Avu looked around herself

"I.. I.. sleeping?" She said not realising she just proposed a question

"Are you mentally ok?" Sonia aunty asked

"No. Like seriously no." Avu replied immediately, getting up from the floor

"Ok come downstairs and have breakfast, I have news for you"

"What news?"

"Patience girl! Come downstairs and I will tell you"

Avu walked to the bathroom, rubbing her eyes

She looked at the reflection of herself in the mirror blankly

"Hi Avneet." She said to herself, looking at the mirror

"Congratulations, you're gonna have to avoid Sid from now on! What an achievement!" She sarcastically scoffed

"Well, if we look on the bright side, Sid will get some peace from shopping!"

She frowned

"But Avneet, won't he miss you?"

"Nah, he'll forget me!"

"Sure about that?"

She realised she was having a conversation with herself

"People are right. I am a completely pagal ladki.." She realised

She washed her face and went downstairs sadly

"Sis, you ok?" Jai asked as Avu saw him sitting on the table

"Ya. Fine as ever!" She lied with a fake smile

"I smell sarcasm.." Aman uncle said as Avu sat down on the dining table

Avu laughed and Sonia aunty served the food

"Enjoy your favourite pancakes!" Sonia aunty happily stated

"PANCAKES!" Jai yelled and he got 5 pancakes and put them on his plate

Avu smiled and picked one out and put it on her plate

Sonia aunty and Aman uncle stared at her unusually

"Avu! I got more than you! HA!" Jai irritated

"Good for you!" She said putting chocolate sauce on her pancake

"But what about our pancake war?" Jai said pouting sadly

"Not in mood. Sorry bro. Just eat."

The whole family stared at Avu in disbelief

"What? Eat na!" Avu said few secs later when she realised everyone was staring at her

There was silence on the table as they all ate

"Amma what news did you have for me?" Avu asked as she got her second pancake

"It's an invitation for you and Jai"

"From who?"

"Your friends"

"Read it to me"

"It's on my phone, go check Avu"

Avu got up from the table and got Sonia aunty's phone

It was a text from Reem and it read:

Hi Sonia aunty! Kaise ho? Just wondering if Avu and Jai wanna come over today. All our gang is meeting up at my house! Would be lovely to have Jaineet here as well!! ❤️ Come over at 11am if you can. Thanks Aunty, bye! ❤️

"It's 10:30, get ready we'll leave soon" Sonia aunty said

"What time do we have to get there?" Jai said

Avu read out the whole text to the family

"Ooooh! Our whole gang is gonna be there! After these pancakes I'm gonna go get ready amma" Jai excitedly stated

"Ok beta. Have fun you two"

"Aye aye aye, I never said I'm going!" Avu said spoiling the mood

"Avu are you ok? You'd never decline. You feeling ok? Haven't your periods ended yet?" Sonia aunty asked, showering Avu with questions

"Mamma chill yaar. I'm just not in the mood!" Avu lied

Avu's P.O.V:

When I read Reem's text my heart jumped up and down in excitement!

But then the split second realisation hit me: Sid was gonna be there

I need to try my best to stay away from him!

"Avu yaar you gotta come, please!" Jai pleaded

"Nah bro" I protested

"Avu what's wrong?" Papa asked me

"Not in mood! That's all!" I replied

I put my plate in the sink and hurried off to my room

I could hear the murmurs and whispers of mamma, papa and Jai talking about me

As soon as I stepped into my room, my phone started ringing

I went over and saw the name of the person I really didn't want to see

Sid.

Ok so somewhere in my heart I knew I wanted to talk to him, but.. I couldn't!

My hands started shaking as I picked up the phone

Should I pick up?

No. NO WAY!

But I should.. He's technically still your boyfriend, Avneet!

But what about..

No I'm picking up

And then I picked up the call after fighting with brain and heart numerous times

"Hello?" I said

"Madooooo!!!!! How are youuu?" Sid said on the other end

"Um, good"

"What's wrong?"

How the hell did he know something's wrong when he can't even see my face?

"Nothing" I lied

"Liar"

"Why would anything be wrong with me?"

"You sound sad mado"

"I'm not sad! Just a bit sleepy.."

"Liar"

"Sid! Maan jao na, nothing's wrong"

"Liar"

"Sid-"

"Liar"

"But-"

"Liar"

"I-"

"Liar"

"SID, I-"

"LIAR"

"SID IF YOU KEEP SAYING THAT THEN I WILL CUT THE CALL!"

"LIAR- I MEAN UM UM UM OK SORRY SORRY SORRY SORRY DON'T CUT THE CALL!"

"Good boy"

"You coming?"

"Coming where?"

"To Reemu's house for the get together thingy?"

"Reemu? What's Reemu?"

"Arre Reem! It's my new nickname for her"

"Hm, NICKNAME? You're best friends with her, right?"

"Ya."

"Best friends or more?"

"What the hell is wrong with you. We're just friends but you're my girlfriend Avu!" Sid laughed

He's right. What the actual hell is wrong with me? I have no right to get jealous over him!

"Ok sorry mado"

"Now tell me are you coming?"

"Um.."

I hesitated

"I'm so dumb. Of course you're coming! Why would you say no?"

"Why do you think I would say yes and not no?"

"It's just how you are!"

"Well I have changed!"

"So you're not coming?"

His tone changed from cheerful to sad which made my heart sink

"I.. I.. Have work" I lied, gulping

"What work? You said your shoots were gonna start in a week"

"Um.. Other work"

"Avu, tell me the truth. Did that dream bother you again?"

I gulped

"No. Seriously it's not the dream"

"Then what?"

"I'm just tired!"

"My poor baby! Avu actually I'm dying to see you, but if you're tired then leave it, don't come"

I held back tears. He sounded so miserable and sad

"Oh and also, I got a call from Faisu saying that he has some special something to announce! I wonder what it is!" Sid added

Great! Now my urge to come just grew

"I'll miss you mado" He said

"Actually you know what, I'll come" I said. 

Suddenly I covered my mouth in shock of what I just said

The words just seemed to spill out of my mouth.

"What? You will? OMG really?" Sid said, he sounded really happy

"Yeah, I don't wanna miss out on any spicy news!" I joked

"So you're coming only coz of the thing Faisu wants to say? You're not excited to see me, huh?"

"Of course I'm excited to see you! I.." I stopped. "I love you" I said, the words stabbing my heart with every flying second

"Love you toooo mado! Ok now quickly come! I'm gonna leave the house with Abhi bhaiya!"

"Ok, um, bye, see you.."

"Love you Avu, bye"

"WAIT Sid, don't cut the call!" I said

"Huh? What happened?"

"Um, I wanna tell you something important when we reach there, it's PERSONAL so don't tell anyone and-"

"Personal? Romance ka mood hai kya?"

I chuckled lightly

"No Sid. It's serious. Please. I mean it. Meet me alone when we reach Reem's house"

"Ok mado. Anything for you. Bye!"

"Bye! Cya!"

And I cut the call

I had to break this relationship between me and Sid. It just wasn't gonna work out

And I wasn't gonna get a better chance than now.

END OF P.O.V

Avu got ready in a few minutes, did her makeup and went downstairs after looking at herself in the mirror one last time

"See. Told ya she'd come!" Aman uncle said to Jai

"Whatever" Jai said rolling his eyes

"Oye! Not whatever, you owe me 100 rupees now, bachu!"

"You guys were betting if I would go or not?" Avu asked in hysterical disbelief

"It started off with 5 rupees but grew into 100 as their fight grew.." Sonia aunty explained in laughter

"You guys are ridiculous!" Avu said laughing

Jaineet said bye to their parents and sat in the car

Jai started driving

"Why'd you change your mind?" Jai asked Avu few minutes into the drive

"So you wanted me NOT to come?" Avu replied

"No I didn't mean that, di. I was wondering if SID was the one who changed your mind.."

"Shut up you damn idiot!"

"Oh, so he was the one?"

"Shut up! I'm breaking up with him soon!"

Silence.

"That was a joke, right?" Jai said trying to read Avu's face

She hesitated to reply and looked out the window
