Hello there . . .
In The Time of The Last Olympian
{~}
"Now, " Chiron continued, "if you please, counselors. Percy has brought something I think you should hear. Percy, the Great Prophecy. "
Annabeth handed Percy the parchment. It felt dry and old, and his fingers fumbled with the string. He uncurled the paper, trying not to rip it, and began to read: "A half-blood of the eldest dogs . . . "
"Er, Percy?" Annabeth interrupted. "That's gods. Not dogs. "
"Oh, right, " Percy said. Being dyslexic is one mark of a demigod, but sometimes he really hated it. The more nervous he got, the worse his reading was. "A half~blood of the eldest gods . . . Shall reach sixteen against all odds . . . " He hesitated, staring at the next lines. A cold feeling started in his fingers as if the paper was freezing. "And see the world in endless sleep, The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap. " Suddenly Riptide seemed heavier in Percy's pocket. A cursed blade? Chiron once told him Riptide had brought many people sorrow. Was it possible his own sword could get him killed? And how could the world fall into endless sleep, unless that meant death?
"Percy, " Chiron urged. "Read the rest. "
Percy's mouth felt like it was full of sand, but he spoke the last two lines. "A single choice shall. . . Shall end his days. Olympus to per-pursue-"
"Preserve, " Annabeth said gently. "It means to save. "
"I know what it means, " Percy grumbled. "Olympus to preserve or raze. "
The room was silent. Finally Connor Stoll said, "Raise is good, isn't it?"
"Not raise, "Silena said. Her voice was hollow, but Percy was startled to hear her speak at all. "R-a-z-e means destroy. "
"Obliterate, " Annabeth said. "Annihilate. Turn to rubble. "
"Got it. " His heart felt like lead. "Thanks. "
Everybody was looking at him with concern, or pity, or maybe a little fear. Chiron closed his eyes as if he were saying a prayer. In horse form, his head almost brushed the lights in the rec room. "You see now, Percy, why we thought it best not to tell you the whole prophecy. You've had enough on your shoulders-"
"Without realizing I was going to die in the end anyway?" Percy said. "Yeah, I get it. "
Suddenly the floor opened up beneath them and the plummeted into endless darkness. Percy felt as though he was on a roller-coaster, his stomach went to his throat as he fell. He couldn't see anything, the only thing he could identify was the screaming of his friends all around him. He had to close his eyes because of the wind, it made them water to no end and it roared in his ears at an almost deafening volume.
Percy didn't even feel himself hit the ground, the wind was no longer clawing at his clothes or damaging his ear drums, he was no longer falling and there was warmth.
"Welcome!" Someone shouted, making his eyes fly open.
"Thalia?" He heard Annabeth ask next to him. Percy turned over onto his back to see Thalia smiling at him from above.
She turned to Annabeth "Hey Annabeth, how are you?"
"A little sick from that fall we just had . . . wait," She got to her feet and looked around. "Where are we?"
All the demigods got to their feet and brushed themselves off. Percy looked around, they were in a bunker of some sort. It was made of stone and all that was in the bunker was a weird cylinder on its side. It glowed a stranger white light like a warning for you to keep away unless you knew how to use it properly.
"Hey, where's Chiron?" Conner asked.
"He will not be joining you," Thalia replied. "And as for where you are, welcome to the future."
"Excuse me?" Annabeth asked. "Is this some kind of joke?"
Percy stepped closer to her "I don't think Thalia would joke at a time like this."
"Still! The future?"
Thalia smirked slightly "Yes, I know this is weird and all," She frowned. "Actually really weird for me, I brought you here for a reason. We need your help."
"Our help?" Katie asked. "If you're from the future why do you need our help?"
Thalia sighed "Because we are out manned, out gunned, and out of time."
"For what?" Annabeth asked.
"The war," The daughter of Zeus looked down "We have been forced underground by our enemy, the gods are practically senile, and many of us our dying. If not dying from battles we are dying from wounds and sickness."
"Wait this is all because of Kronos?" Percy asked.
"Kronos? No, no we defeated him a year or so ago."
"So--." Percy started, but was cut off by Annabeth.
"Is Percy still alive?"
Thalia smirked slightly at Annabeth knowing the main reason why she asked "All of you will be happy to know Kelp Head is alive and mostly well besides a few cuts and bruises."
"Well I don't know all of us are happy." Clarisse snickered as did a few others.
Percy scowled but then relaxed when he realized she was joking . . . or so he hoped.
"Alright," Thalia put her hands together. "Everyone already knows about your coming, but before you meet your future selves I advise you to go to the library and read up about them and everything that has happened from your time to now."
"Why read up on ourselves when we can just ask them?" Clarisse asked.
"Because some memories are very painful and could cause a bad reaction. Now follow me, I will escort you to the library. Lily, a daughter of Athena, will be at your assistance."
Everyone nodded and Thalia turned to leave the bunker room, she opened the door and let them all file out "This way." She said and headed down a long hallway made up of stone floor and metal walls. It reminded Percy oddly of a military facility, but I guess that's what is was supposed to be if they were in the middle of a war.
Annabeth walked close to Percy "See, you survived."
"But at what price?"
She frowned "Percy, be thankful that you didn't have your soul reaped, okay?"
He nodded slowly but didn't say a word after that.
Soon they arrived at the library, it was huge. When Thalia opened the oaken double doors all mouths hit the floor. The floor of the library was carpeted with bookshelves lining the wall and everywhere in between. On the far wall there was a little common place for visitors to read and relax, even a little cafe on the right. It looked like a miniature Barns & Noble. Obviously the designer had great taste.
"Here we are," Thalia said and turned her had to a pretty blonde girl at the front desk. "Lily, these are our guests."
Lily stood, she looked about fourteen maybe a little older, she had the normal blonde hair and grey eyes like all Athenians. Her hair was waist long and straight, her eyes were a little lighter grey almost white. She smiled at them and came out from behind the desk "Hello, it's nice to meet you . . . well I have meet your older selves, but ya."
Thalia smiled "Well I'll leave you all, ask Lily for any help you might need and I'll be on my way."
She waved good bye and left the room, leaving the past demigods and Lily alone.
"So what can I help you with?" Lily asked.
Everyone look to Annabeth "Eh, could you take us where we can find information about ourselves and about that has happened since your time?"
"Right this way."
