Chapter 18:

We first had to sneak over to my old house to grab bikes since the store for swim gear was a good distance away. We had one of those garage doors that had a button to push in order to open it. It wasn't a loud door but we had to act fast. I grabbed my bike and Sarah's and then had to grab my dad's bike for Ash, who was taller than us for a 17 year old. I hit the button again but out of the corner of my eye saw someone on the lawn. I looked with both eyes and saw it was my father. I grabbed the handle bars and yelled,

"Run!" We ran for a bit until Sarah stopped us.

"Dudes. We have bikes." So I swung my leg over the seat and stuck my foot to the peddle.

"We have bikes." I repeated to myself and so rode down the blank street past the cactuses and the bright houses, past the array of sedimentary rocks and drove along the dirt road to the building. It was a glass building and you could see all the way inside at the wooden shelves holding useless glass and beach themed tourist gear. We looked around avoiding the handing sea shell decorations. Eventually in the back of the store they had surf gear so we bought some of that and a pack of Bazooka gum each to tie ourselves over till we got to a food place. We went through the drive thru though we were on bikes not about to take any crap we just needed to hurry. The lady at the McDonalds drive thru looked at Ash and Sarah with fear in her eyes.

"Sup dude." Ash said to her while she handed us the bag that got placed in Sarah's old wicker basket attached to her bike. The lady gave him an uncomfortable look.

"Sup." She said nervously and we rode away letting the lady forget that we needed to pay for our food. We drove down near the beach but parked the bikes before we got to the stairs. Since all three of us could ride bikes with one hand not on the handlebars we finished our breakfast before getting there. It was getting lighter since we were about an hour late. We walked out onto the sand where we had hidden our boards the night before. When we got out to the water where Sarah's father was. He gave us annoyed looks and showed us his water proof watch.

"I though I said 5." Sarah rolled her eyes with the heavily applied makeup around them. He looked at her style with the black edgy everything. "My little princess, eh?"

"No, I'm not your little anything. And definitely not a princess, more of a heavy metal rock star." He bit his lip and nodded. She would never forgive him, I thought.
