13- Michael's Offer

Michael was sitting at his desk searching the internet, trying to figure out where Tiffany could have gone to, she had no family to run to and the only place that she knew and grew up in was L.A. He tried thinking of areas that she had always talked about wanting to visit. His phone rang, he picked up the phone and noticed that the caller I.D said unknown caller. He set it back down not wanting to answer it.

After the third time in a row of nonstop calling he decided to answer it. It was Tiffany, his eyes lit up and sat straight up. "You're damn right we need to talk." He snapped.

Grabbing a pad of paper and a pen he set it in front of him "Where the fuck are you?"

"Never mind where I am at, I want you to sign those fucking papers." She demanded.

"I'll never sign those papers, you are my wife, my property. We made vows to stay together through thick and thin." He insisted. Bouncing the bottom of the pen on the pad of paper "I want you to tell me where you are at and I will come and get you."

"I'll never tell you where I am, I am safe and away from you. Please sign those papers, I don't love you and never will."

Shoving his chair back in frustration he stood up and started yelling "You owe me fucking money, and I will get that money back from you. Whether you are dead or alive, I will get it back. You do remember I have a life insurance policy on you, so either way I will get my money, but you are worth more if you are in my arms again."

"I have no clue what you are talking about, what money." She knew exactly what he meant, but didn't want to admit that she knew the combination to the safe. "I left everything behind, you do realize since we are married I technically can go for half of everything, but I chose to walk away from it all to spare the heartache. So please just grant me the divorce or annulment whatever it is."

Kicking his chair away he set his phone down on the desk and put her on speaker. He poured himself a shot of cognac, slamming it he poured himself another one trying to calm his nerves, taking the glass he slid the brim of the glass on his bottom lip thinking.

"You owe me $54,000 for that ring that you pawned off as well as $25,000 for what you stole out of the safe. I know that was you, that money was there in the morning when I left and gone later that night. So don't tell me you didn't take it. I have no clue how you figured the fucking code out but you obviously had for the money to be gone."

Walking around he thought some more, she was right she did walk away from it all and she technically can go for half and if he didn't grant it she could turn the tables around and decide to go for half of everything. They never did sign a prenup, so he knows that he would be screwed. He then came up with a plan, a plan that he wondered if she would fall for.

"I'll tell you what... you return that money to me and in person, I will grant you the divorce."

"I will never step foot in Cali ever again, as for the money it's the least I can get for everything that you ever put me through. I should be entitled to something."

"You have a week to decide." He says hanging up on her.

He then called a friend who was good at hacking into anything, being that he had her on the phone long enough he wondered if he could hack into seeing what number she had called from and location. Giving off an evil grin when he told Michael that he can figure out anything to give him a few days.

"I'll find you bitch, and you'll never be able to go anywhere ever again." He laughed in a evil laugh, taking another drink he felt good, he knew she would finally screw up. Being that she blocked the number he still had hope his friend could hack into the system and still find her.

Tiffany grew upset after Michael hung up on her, thinking that she was that stupid to return the money in person. "He has to be out of his fucking mind if he thinks he will get that money back, and in person." She muttered.

Wanting to give off some steam she hopped in the car and headed over to Felix and Bertha's house. Since they told her that she could come over anytime to shoot, she decided to do more practicing. She knew Michael would be coming after her, especially since she told him she would never be his ever again.

Bertha walked out of the house smiling when she saw Tiffany pull up, walking towards her and giving her a hug "Come to do more practicing have you?"

"I have is Felix around?" She says hugging her back.

"He ran to town, but he will be back soon. Why don't you come in and give me some help with some things while we wait for him to return."

"What can I help you with?"

"Well this weekend is the town's end of summer fair, I have been baking up a storm of cookies for the bake sale I need help getting them wrapped up and ready to be sold."

Tiffany looked at her confused, surprised that Caleb had never mentioned anything about it. "I can help out." She said quietly. Bertha noticed that she had gotten quiet and grabbed the packaging handing it to Tiffany.

"I take it Caleb never mentioned anything?" Tiffany shook her head no, taking the packaging from her hands and sat down at the table. "I wonder why? This is when the whole town gets together, they are also raising money for the victims from the tornado that had touched down, one of the reasons why I made all these cookies."

Tiffany let out a sigh "I guess he hasn't really been home to talk to me about it."

"I wouldn't worry about it dear, I'm sure he's been so busy with clean up and work that it's just crossed his mind."

For about an hour Tiffany helped package up the cookies and labeled them all, once Felix came home he took her out back and let her shoot, this time he didn't help her out with anything, he sat back and watched, seeing if she could load and unload everything herself, she identified each gun and explained how each one worked without asking any questions. Felix was proud of her, each gun she shot she hit the bullseye each time, and her stance was perfect. He knew that she was ready, he left her out back and ran in the house quick.

While Felix was out running around he went out to purchase Tiffany a handgun to keep herself safe, and was going to give it to her when he felt she was ready for it. After seeing what she did today he knew that she was ready and gave her the handgun.

"Oh Felix I cannot take this from you."

"Take it, I bought it for you, I wasn't going to give it to you until I knew that you were ready for it, I feel you are ready for it, and know that you will take special care with it. You have impressed me much, and I want nothing more for you to be able to protect yourself incase that madman comes after you."

She gave Felix a hug "Thank you." She smiled hugging him tight.

"It's my pleasure. Now use it wisely." He grinned.

Tiffany stood there staring at the gun and couldn't believe he bought that for her, it was small and light enough to keep in her purse. "Go ahead and shoot it, give it a test so you're familiar with it." He smiled.

Bertha stood next to Felix and watched Tiffany shoot her new gun, smiling feeling better that she will be able to protect herself. She knew that Caleb couldn't be with her 24/7 and knew that anything could happen at any given time. After she was done practicing and helping Bertha she let Bertha know that she would be there to help her sell the cookies. Still upset that Caleb never told her about it but wasn't going to let it get to her.

She drove home and got dinner ready for Caleb, while making dinner she had a scare when she heard the door open and close. She grabbed a hold of a knife that was on the counter "Hello?" She called out nervously.

She then jumped when she saw Caleb walk in the kitchen. "Jesus, you scared the crap out of me, I wasn't expecting you home so early." She says setting the knife down.

Caleb noticed the big butcher knife in her hand and chuckled. "What did you plan on doing with that?"

"I grabbed it since it was closest to me, I thought someone else was walking in the door."

"I should have called, but I wanted to surprise you. After how this week has gone, I wanted to be home and spend some time with you." He says pulling her close to him placing a kiss on her lips.

There was something about that kiss he could tell something was wrong, hugging her as well he noticed that she didn't hug him lovingly the way she normally does too. Leaning back looking her in the eyes he knew something was on her mind.

"What's going on in that pretty little mind of yours?"

"There's a lot going on in my mind right now." She sighed pulling out of his arms, walking over and stirring the spaghetti sauce. Caleb was confused, she was being short with him and couldn't even look at him.

"Did I do something wrong?" He asks as he walks behind her brushing her hair to the side to kiss her neck. Shrugging her shoulders "It's a mix of things." She says softly "I talked to Michael today as well." Turning she walked to the breakfast bar and leaned against the counter.

Caleb was shocked to hear that she had talked to Michael and shook his head "You what?"

"I called him, I tried talking him into signing the papers..... he won't do it."

"Why would you call him? Now you gave him ammo on finding you." He says looking at her in disbelief.

"I blocked the number, he won't find me." She says looking down at her feet, still wanting to ask him about this weekend, but waiting to see if he will bring it up.

Caleb rubs his face wishing she hadn't called him. "You sure about that? I mean if you say he's as dangerous as you claim he is, what if he has ways to find out where you're calling from?"

"Spaghetti sauce is burning." She says walking past him in a hurry to stir the sauce. "There's no way, how could he if the number was blocked?"

Caleb walked away not wanting to fight with her anymore about it, Tiffany continued to finish making dinner and continued to think about Michaels offer, he did give her a week to think about it but wasn't so sure if he was serious about it. She decided to bring it up to Caleb and see what he has to say about it.

"Michael did give me an offer that he claims if I did he would sign the papers."

Caleb stopped eating and leaned back in his chair, raising an eyebrow. "How much worse can this get?" He mocked."

"He said if I returned the money he would sign the papers... but there's a catch.." She sighed.

"And what is that?" He said unsure if he really wanted to hear.

"That I have to return it in person...... He gave me a week to think about it." She pushes her plate back not wanting to eat anymore. Looking at Caleb's expression he isn't too thrilled. If looks could kill she would be dead. Since he hasn't brought anything up she figured now would be a good time to change the subject.

"So what's going on this weekend?"

"What do you mean?" He asks with a mouth full of food, looking at her confused, he figured if she was thinking about returning that money to Michael this weekend, that there was no way he would let her do that.

"I mean what is going on this weekend? Do you have anything planned? Meaning anything planned for us to do this weekend?" She says staring at him, when he shakes his head no, she stood up and walked away not saying anything to him, which got Caleb upset, he could tell she was beating around the bush about something.

"Damnit Tiff, what the hell is going on? You've been cold to me since I got home, giving me dirty looks, being short with me, and to top it all off you tell me you called your ex husband, husband whatever the fuck he is and now he wants you to see him in order to sign the papers, and that you have to return the money, which I told you not to spend in the first damn place."

"I was at Felix and Bertha's house today, she told me that the town fair was this weekend and that you were all raising money for the storm victims, I helped her package her cookies that she had baked for the bake sale, were you not planning on telling me? Planning on leaving me home while you were there?"

"Jesus... I never brought it up because I didn't want to go."

"Why?'

Caleb stands up and walks into the kitchen placing his dish in the sink "I have reasons why I didn't want to go." He turns and sees Tiffany standing there with her hands on her hips so he walked to her resting his arms on her shoulders. "One reason was because of you, I didn't want to chance having you being seen with all the people there, and the other reason was because they are auctioning us fireman off."

"Huh? Auctioning what? I don't understand."

"Auctioning meaning when our name is called we go up on stage and the auctioning begins, the one with the highest bid gets an evening with that fireman... All in fun of course, all proceeds go to the storm victims."

"Oh hell no."

"That's why I didn't bring it up, if I'm not there then I wouldn't have to do it."

"Well I'm going to be there." She says quietly, Caleb cocks his head wondering why she would be there if he isn't going to be. "I promised I would help Bertha sell her cookies, so you might as well just go."

"What?"

"I know who you're coming home to, and if it isn't me then I know where I stand with you." Saying that to Caleb he looked more confused than ever, little did he know she had a plan. She smiled at him, she stared into his eyes and didn't want to fight with him anymore.

"Can we not fight about any of this anymore tonight? Can we just go back to where we were before? We can discuss this another time, you came home early for a reason and it wasn't to fight."

Picking her up he carried her into the bedroom where they had wild make up sex for hours bringing multiple orgasms to each other.

***********
The day of the fair Caleb and Tiffany ran over to Felix and Bertha's house to help load up their vehicles with Bertha's cookies to sell. Felix walked out to shake Caleb's hand. "Did Tiffany ever show you what I had gotten her?"

Caleb shook his head no and looked over at Tiffany who was talking to Bertha, Tiffany heard her name and walked over to them. "Did I hear my name?" She smiled.

"Felix asked me if I saw what he had gotten for you, what was that?"

"Oh I'm sorry, with everything that had been going on I completely forgot to show you." She walked over to Caleb's truck and grabbed her purse and excitedly jogged back over to them, with a grin she pulled out the gun handing it to Caleb.

"Oh wow, thanks Felix." Caleb smiled as he looked at it, shocked he bought her a gun.

"She was over the other day, I was impressed with her, she did well with everything, not asking for help and hit the bullseye dead on each time she shot each gun, loading and unloading, and had done all safety measures to a T. It was funny actually.. I had went to buy that for her earlier in the day and decided to give it to her when I felt she was ready, after how she did that day I couldn't resist and gave it to her then." Felix says patting Caleb's shoulder.

"So now I better behave myself, now that I know she has a gun." Caleb says with a laugh.

Tiffany overheard him and playfully smacked his arm. "You have nothing to worry about, I'm sure I'll never have to use it, but I'm glad I got to learn everything."

"That's right cause if bad ass Bertha can't be there to help her out, she needs to be a bad ass herself." Bertha blurted out laughing, making everyone laugh.

"Well we better hurry up and get to that fair and set the booth all up." Caleb says "I still have to meet with the guys and get that auction thingy set up."

Tiffany took a deep breath and sighed, she didn't want him doing it, but she knew who he was coming home to and wasn't worried. "Just know that whoever wins the auction for you, I'll just say may the best one win."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Because I'm not about to give you to just anyone for the night, they will need my approval first." She winked.

"Makes no sense." He grinned.

"You'll see."
