Apple Spice Coffee Cake

Tender chunky Apple Spice Coffee Cake Recipe. This moist coffee cake is bursting with spiced apple flavor and perfect for fall parties! 

~Ingredients:

3 Cups All Purpose Flour.

1 182 Cups Sugar.

1 Tablespoon Baking Powder.

1 Teaspoon Salt.

2 Cups Sour Cream.*

1 Cup Unsalted Butter, divided.

2 Large Eggs.

2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract.

1 Large Granny Smith Apple, peeled and diced.

-Topping:  

1 Cup Chopped Pecans.

1/2 Cup Packed Brown Sugar.

1 Tablespoon Apple Pie Spice.**

~Directions: 

Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 X 13 inch baking dish and set aside.

Step 2In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

 Step 3Melt 12 tablespoons butter and add it to the mixture along with the sour cream, eggs, and the vanilla extract. Stir well to combine.

Step 4Stir in the diced apple.

Step 5Then spread half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. 

Step 6In a medium bowl mix together the chopped pecans, brown sugar, and apple pie spice.

Step 7: Sprinkle half of the pecan mixture evenly over the cake batter. 

Step 8Then spread the remaining cake batter over the top.

Step 9Add the remaining 4 tablespoon of butter to the remaining pecan mixture. 

Step 10Use your hand to mix into a paste. Drop small dollops of pecan-butter over the surface of the cake.

Step 11Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. 

Step 12Cool completely before cutting and serving.

~Recipe Notes:

*You can use lowfat plain Greek yogurt as a substitute if you don't have sour cream on hand.

**You can also use Pumpkin Pie Spice instead of Apple Pie Spice.
