Chapter 10. Plan, Prepare And Then Plan Some More

"Don't." Jordan growled out before anyone could move towards the meat that had been thrown into this cage. I didn't trust them not to poison it and I guess that Jordan didn't either.

"Was any body a tracker in there old lives?" Jordan asked the crowd as three older wolves and one younger wolf put their hands in the air. He looked over to the youngest and the one who appeared to be the eldest of the three older wolves.

"Would you be able to detect any scents of drugs in the meat?" Jordan asked them as he looked over to the meat that was on the ground. It looked mouth watering even if it was rare meat.

They both paused for a moment before they nodded, but it was like they were a little unsure of themselves, and I don't blame them. It has been so long since we've been able to use any of our senses.

I watched them as they walked over to the meat, I want nothing more then for it to be fine to eat. I am so hungry, we all are. But we all wont get a meal from it, there isn't enough to go around. Not nearly enough.

I held my breath along with everyone else while the trackers smelt over and over again. The youngest stood up, uncertainty written all over his face, the eldest one however, he looked pretty confident with himself.

"I can't be 100% certain but they smell clean to me." The youngest spoke. "I can agree with that." The eldest nodded before he pat the younger wolf on his back. Encouraging him in a way I guess.

We started to walk forward before Jordan stopped us again with a growl. We all froze in our spots as he walked forward, he looked over all of us, counting us I think before he looked to the bits of meat lying on the ground before him.

He started tearing them up into portions some bigger and some smaller, surprisingly enough it looked like he somehow had enough to give everyone something to eat.

Jordan walked up and gave each of us our portions that we all greedily ate down, it wasn't as nice as cooked meat but it was the best thing we had had in weeks. I couldn't eat any more stale crackers or mouldy fruit, but when you are desperate, you will eat anything given to you.

"Okay..." Jordan sighed slightly while he beckoned Conner over with him. "We will keep with our old plan, we have better chances now but we do everything we can to get the groups that we said would run out first, before we save ourselves."

"Where do we run?" Lucas asked moving up behind me again.

"I don't know." Jordan admitted. "We should run west, down the hills." Conner spoke up looking across at the hill right near our cages,

"What about the mountains?" Another asked as I looked towards the mountains in the north, they could help us to hide from the hunters once they came looking for us. It looks dense with trees, but there would be nowhere safe to rest at night, and the slopes could be dangerous. But then again so could the taking the hills, what happens when we reach an uphill, is it covered? Can we hide?

Both options are risky but what choices do we have? If we wanted to live we had to take chances no matter how risky they were. Death is better then this place here. This is hell on earth, actually I think that this place is worse then hell.

"Do we keep the same groups?" I asked "Or do we make them bigger?"

"We stay in the same groups, we have them for a reason." Jordan answered looking out to everyone, looking everyone in the eyes daring them to challenge him.

"We have three days to prepare and we will use them." He voice was growing stronger. "For now, we sleep and rise when the sun is up then we will start to figure everything out. But we NEED to rest." He was right being weak wouldn't help us.

Every one went to different places to sleep, but all of us were still close to each other and away from the wire fence. No one wanted to be close to it in case these hunters decided to do something to us when we were sleeping and vulnerable.

Sleep came easily to me that night I was in the middle of my two big brothers who were protecting me and keeping me warm. I still felt guilty over the fact that they were sacrificing themselves so that I can live.

It isn't fair on them to give up everything for me.

I woke up when Jordan started to move around it was impossible not to wake up since I was sleeping on his arm so he had to move me off him.

It took me a moment to realise that I was really alive when I felt the sun shining down on my skin. I had honestly forgotten what it felt like and it seemed like a lot of over people here did as well. They all had their eyes closed letting the light wash over them.

Even the vampires were enjoying it, they must have been given some blood otherwise they would be up in flames right now.

When Jordan got our attention he gave us the run down of his three-day plan. Each morning we would spend a few hours leaning how to fight and defend ourselves. Which consisted of us being in our groups. The ones running verses the ones ensuring that we get out of here.

Lucas, Anton and Myself had to verse Jordan, Conner, Bianca and another wolf that I think is called Flynn. Have I ever mentioned that I am not good with names before? Those four had Lucas and myself eating dirt more times then either of us would like to admit, Anton could hold his own quite well. Which wasn't much of a surprise he told Lucas and I that he was a very good warrior in his old pack, he was actually the best that they had.

After the Hunters would throw us what was meant to be lunch we would be with our groups getting to know who was in our groups. Who was fighting with us to ensure that we all got alive.

Jordan kept promising the others that were staying back to defend us that once we got out of sight they would take off and run with us, hopefully by then they would've killed some hunters.

I know he is holding in the fact that he knows very well that not everyone is going to get out of here, not all of us are going to live. Even if we get out of this territory we wont all live to find safety.

After that time we would all learn some more fighting skills, one on one, an experienced fighter with a younger and inexperienced wolf. It helped but we didn't have the time to properly learn. It could take weeks, even months for us all to have the skills that we need to fight these hunters off.

And I know has well as everyone else here that they wont fight fair, they will probably have weapons and lots of them where we will only have our claws and teeth. After that at night the hunters would throw in more food and that was when we spent our time with our family, our friends.

Lucas and Bianca joined us, I could see her and Jordan exchanges glances. I have a feeling in the back of my mind that they may be this mate thing that they told me about when I was younger, but we wont know for sure until we are able to communicate with our wolves more.

All of our wolves are still hidden away, they are too weak to come forward. We all prayed to the moon that they would have the strength to come back to us before we ran away from this hellhole and the hunters.

The second day went exactly the same as the first, Lucas and I were the smallest bit better but I still ate dirt more then what I did actual food.

Our wolves were getting closer, I could feel mine starting to wake up from her very long absence. I was happy that she was still even alive, it would be no surprise at all if they wolves were dead thanks to all the drugs they have had to endure with us.

I could almost feel my claws trying to poke through my skin when I thought about it hard enough, so hard that it caused headaches.

I am not looking forward to my first shift once this is all over, I don't think anyone is. I think it will be as bad as the first shift I went through.

The Third day messed up Jordan's plans, somehow in the night the cages had been joined together.

We woke up right next to the witches and vampires.

This could either help us, or we could all kill each other before the hunters even get the chance to hunt us.
