Part 3
"She is real?" Sasuke asked more to himself than anyone else. He had come to believe that the little girl with long onyx hair and milky eyes was just some cruel trick his mind played on him. She plagued most of his dreams through his troublesome years. The most heartbreaking was the dream (aside from the nightmares) that he had the night of the massacre.
The dream.
Sasuke stood alone in the dark crying, mourning his mother and father,
"Sasuke?" A young girl with black hair down to her hips stood in front of him, she was dressed in a black kimono,
"Who are you?" Sasuke said, wiping away his tears not wanting the girl to see him cry,
"____" she replied, but no sound came out of her mouth, she looked surprised and tried again,
"_____" her eyes widened as if she realized something and a tear ran down her cheek,
"It would seem that that is a piece of information that you are not supposed to know," she said sounding very sad,
"Oh," Sasuke then turned around to walk away,
"No, don't go"
"Why?" turning back to her,
"You need someone right now Sasuke, you are in pain," she said and tried to grab his sleeve but he pulled away,
"Why? For them to just betray or to leave me too!" He shouted, tears brimming in his eyes,
"No Sasuke, he didn'-____________________________" She tried telling him something again, but her voice was silenced again, this made her very upset and she tried again,
"______________________________________________________!" but to no avail, she was sobbing now, tears were running down her face,
"It would seem that, that someone does not want you to know, what I need you to know," she chuckled sadly tears still flowing from her face and falling into the darkness that surrounded them,
"Why are you crying?" Sasuke said looking at her, inching closer to the unknown crying girl,
"Because it hurts, you are hurting and for some reason, you can't remember me and that hurts too" she cried more, falling to her knees, for some reason, seeing this girl hurt so much for him touched Sasuke, and he got onto his knees in front of her,
"I don't know what to say to you," Sasuke said, "for your sake, I wish I could remember you" he tried,
"Sasuke, even in your time of grief, you are trying to console me just because I am crying," her tears kept coming, as a small smile graced her face,
"Hn" he said, sitting down and crossing his legs,
"Sasuke, I know you don't remember me, but I know you, trust in that I know you almost more than you know yourself," she said, her tears did not stop, as they fell they started creating light on the area of the ground on which they fell.
"Your favourite thing to eat is tomatoes, and you like looking at long hair, but you hate it on yourself, the first time you held a kunai, you cut yourself so badly that you had to go see a medic-nin, you never wanted anyone to know, you always wanted your mom to teach you how to sew, but you were too afraid to ask, lastly, you pretend to not care what people think about you, but you do" where her tears fell, started growing bushes adorned by beautiful pastel blue and purple flowers,
"I know I sound like a fan-girl just rattling off facts about you to you, but I don't know how else to prove that I know you" her tears did not seem to want to stop, they were slowly creating a field of flowers surrounding them,
"Why is it important for you to prove to me that you know me?" he asked,
"So that I could do this" She pulled him into a hug, and he sat there in shock, she ran her fingers through his hair,
"Although it might feel like you are alone, you are not, people will be willing to care for you, Sasuke, do not close yourself and push them away,"
"Cry Sasuke, it is okay to cry, it is okay to let people know how you feel, if you can't cry in public, at least cry when you are alone,"
"I know that right now you are feeling a great deal of hatred," Sasuke's eyes widened at this comment,
"Do not let it consume you, remember who you are," she pulled away, but still held him in her arms looking into his eyes,
"Do not push away your memories, treasure them and draw strength from them" her tears were still falling,
"Never stop growing in strength, not for revenge," Sasuke flinched at the sternness in her voice,
"But to protect..." she reached up and caressed his cheek,
"Now Sasuke, if you had remembered me, you would know that I didn't really think that you were gonna listen to any of my advice, even though it would be good advice to follow, I was just gauging you, I know what you are planning to do, I don't want you to do it, but there is nothing I can do to stop you, just know that I wish I could have been with you every step of the way, to comfort you and to reprimand you, " as she spoke, for some reason, her words shook Sasuke to the core, his eyes began to well up with tears, he tried to keep them down, but they began to fall against his own will. She wiped his tears away,
"I know that you are gonna need me, just as much as I'm gonna need you" she whispered, his tears began to fall faster,
"Wow, Sasuke, who would have thought that you could look handsome even when you are crying" She giggled through her tears as she joked, in this light moment, they turned away from each other and took in their surroundings, they were surrounded by the sweet-smelling flowers,
"My favourite kind of flowers, Scorpion Grasses, more commonly known as 'Forget-me-not's, quite ironic isn't it" she chuckled," they are not common in our land at all" she explained, he just nodded,
"Sasuke, I know you can't remember, but can you at least say something, don't leave all the talking to me" she joked, Sasuke, looked at her for a moment, then looked back towards the flowers and said,
"I don't know who you are, but I can tell you care for me a lot, my mind can't remember you, but my heart does, I don't feel uncomfortable when you touch or hold me, so you didn't need to prove to me that you know me, although thank you for considering that" he grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers, his eyes traveled to her silently weeping form,
" When you cry, the only thing I can think about is making your pain go away as fast as possible," he reached up and wiped away her tears,
"And when you speak the way you are right now as if you are about to never see me again, I feel an immense sense of loss, the same kind of pain that I am feeling for my p-parents" his voice cracked towards the end,
"I-I don't wanna lose y-you too" he struggled out, as a new batch of tears made their way down his cheeks, he took hold of her shoulders and drew her body close to his, she was a bit shorter than him, so his nose went into her hair, she smelt like the sweet flowers surrounding them and more surprisingly, she smelt like him. They must have spent a lot of time together if she smelt like him.
"Sasuke, I don't want to leave you, but I know I don't have a choice," hearing this, Sasuke's first instinct was to hold her tighter, her form started glowing,
"Sasuke, my time, I think it is up, I-"
"No, listen to me, knowing myself and how I am assuming what our relationship was, I know that I haven't told you this before, and knowing myself if I had my memory of you back, I would probably not have the guts to tell you this" he pulled away, looking into her misty eyes, her body was slowly fading away, becoming petals that were being carried away by the wind,
"I love you, I can feel that I do," he said, tears ran down both of their cheeks, a smile grew on her face,
"I know you do" her eyes sparkled as she drifted away,
End of dream
She had comforted him so much in his dream that when he woke up, he nearly broke down from the loneliness of realizing that it was just a dream. The sheer amount of emotion that she made him feel made him never forget a single detail about her or the dream. His reminiscing was cut short by Hiashi finally standing up,
"Hinata, why on earth would you want someone like her to come back? You said it yourself she is the reason we disregarded you and she could possibly challenge you for the position as clan head" Hiashi reasoned walking towards Hinata. Sasuke's eye twitched, his Sharingan blazing because of the thought of the possibility of getting Hikari back being threatened by the elders' refusal to cooperate, he was just about ready to attack, and was doing his best to calm down, not needing to be under more scrutiny than he already was,
"And I would gladly hand the title over to her, even now, she is more fit to lead this clan, even now she is strong enough to be clan head, even if she has not progressed all these years, that 11 year old that you took away, she was smart and courageous enough to take this title with ease. She is my sister, my being mistreated was solely your doing, she always told you that I was her equal."
"Even so," she said and crossed her arms, just then one of the branch members moved closer and stood in front of the crowd, activating his byakugan,
"We will not overlook Hinata-sama's first command," He said,
"Right!"
"Agreed"
"Yes!" a lot of other branch members shouted walking forward, activating their Bakugan. They kept walking forward until the rest of the people who were not clan members were standing further away. They all stood there, glaring at the elders and the ex-clan head.
"How dare all of you?! A coup during an ascension ceremony!" One of the elders shouted in anger,
"How is what we are doing a coup? We are obeying the orders of our leader, you are the ones ignoring our traditions!" A branch member shouted back, upon hearing this Hinata stood taller and smirked.
"Where is she?" Hinata asked once again, activating her byakugan, signaling them that she would fight as well if necessary, Sasuke caught her eye and nodded at her, activating his Sharingan, silently agreeing to back her up if it came down to it. This gave her even more motivation to free her sister. The elders looked winded, they had basically been threatened with their lives. Hinata had somehow managed to plan this so well, that this was checkmate for them. They were in no shape to fight, they were old and frail and had not seen the battlefield for years.
The elders all looked at each other with a look of understanding. A female elder walked forward until she stood directly in front of Hinata. She sighed and looked over at Hiashi, whose face was ridden with disbelief.
"Don't do it! I'm warning you all" Hiashi shouted in anger, however, the elder understood their predicament and could not adhere to their ex-clan head's demands. She reached into her elongated sleeve, pulled out a small black box with the Hyuga clan symbol on it, and handed it to Hinata. Hinata held the box and looked down at it in confusion. She opened the box and saw a scroll.
"She is in there, we do not know if she is still alive, once she was sealed, it was never opened again, keeping the scroll close at hand" The female elder explained. Gasps were heard throughout the room and some branch members began to sob, but they held their ground. Sasuke, did his best not to end them right there where they stood for taking her away from him. He stood there clenching and unclenching his fists. She had been right under their noses, this entire time, always been in their reach.
Fury boiled up within both Hinata and Sasuke,
"You sealed a person into a scroll!?" She shouted in disbelief and disgust. Sasuke still did his best not to intervene, knowing that there was no return from betraying Konoha's trust. Again.
"You left her alone for years?! Without knowing if she needed sustenance?! This clan is truly cruel." Hinata was shaking in anger, she picked up the scroll so carefully even in her anger, out of fear that it might break. She held it up inspecting it, drawing it closer, she and Sasuke simultaneously whispered,
"Please be okay," and began unsealing the scroll.
