Part 23

The twins and their men finally got to the training grounds after tidying up what was left of the Uchiha's kitchen. Sasuke did his best to avoid Hikari's gaze, she hid it well but anyone who knew her well enough could see the flames dancing behind her eyes, ones of pure fury. Similarly to his mother, instead of raising her voice, and having an outburst, she went quiet, he knew she was going to regret turning their kitchen to ashes at some point. For the first time in a very long time, he felt an uneasiness that was so close to fear that it rendered him speechless. Sasuke Uchiha was afraid?

She had been quiet the entire walk there, but the moment they were on the the training grounds, she got into battle stance right infront of him,

"Hikari, I am so-" Sasuke tried, as he noticed unnatural clouds started darkening the summer sky,

"Sasuke, you have lived your life in such rough manner, you have forgotten the meaning of what a home should mean to you," Hikari said, as she started making hand signs, Hinata watched from a distance, very curious at what her sister would do. Unlike the rest of the Hyuga, who spent almost all their lives perfecting, the Gentle Fist, her sister had perfected hers at an early age, having not disclosed this to her teachers, she spent the time where she should have been strengthening her clan's fighting style as time to hone her elemental fighting style. Hinata herself had only found a way to incorporate her fire affinity into her gentle fist, 2 years before, where as he sister had chose completely abandon the Hyuga core fighting style and develop her very own, with her affinity for water. She had never been allowed to see her sister train in anything other than the Gentle fist, due to the fact that she only trained with it outside of the Hyuga compound, given that any fighting style that was not their clan's was frowned upon.

"I will have to remind you, how a home is something you protect, not something you tear apart to get to the enemy," she said, her eyes seemed to glow in the now darkened sky. Sasuke looked at the familiar chakra infused rain clouds that were concentrated above them, recognizing them as one of Hikari's jitsus. She had never seen him actually fight full powered before, even him and Naruto's little spat, was not them using a tenth of what they were capable of. However, looking at his Hyuga princess, as her long inky hair swayed in the breeze and eyes glowed with determination, his throat went dry. She had such a calm glare on her face, if it was even possible, he could tell that it held no hate, but it somehow did not make it less fierce. Her pale skin in contract with her dark attire, made her seem to have a ghostly glow about her. His ethereal, lethal beauty.

He should be more concerned that he made her upset, he should be more concerned that her fierce gaze was directed at him, instead of one of softness, love and passion...But he was not. Even in her emotions that was supposed to be negative, Sasuke found her breathtaking. She was here with him, her love, her anger,  her happiness, her sadness. She was all of her was here with him. Not a dream, not a ghost, not a never-changing memory. She was here, in person- living her life with him. That's so much more than he ever imagined he could ask for.

He figured out exactly what upset her, the moment she picked up the tray that she usually put their morning tea on. She looked at it, with such sorrow. Sasuke felt guilty for letting her feel that way after everything she has been through. Over these months, she had grown attached to their everyday life and routine. She treasured it. Her first memories after being unsealed. She was upset that he in anger would dare to tarnish it. He wished that he took the fight outside instead of attacking from inside the apartment.

However she was wrong. He had not forgotten the meaning of home.

Heaving rain started pouring over the training ground, Hikari stretched out an arm, they all saw a disruption in the rain fall from where her hand was extended,

"Water style: Rain battle jitsu," she said as a courtesy, never really having understood the need to announce moves in battle, knowing full well that in real life, no one announced their moves. Hinata was ecstatic seeing her sister's chosen move. She had tried many time to imitate it growing up, before she discovered that they -ironically- had different affinities. All because she was not allowed to watch her sister train does not mean that she listened and never watched her. And all because Hinata was not allowed to watch does not mean that Hikari would alert anyone when she picked up on her twins presence, when she was 'secretly' watching her train. They were sisters no one had the authority to separate what them in any form or way. Not even the heavens could separate them, their conception could not separate them, their births could not separate them, they entered this plain of existence together.

The rain seemed to drip down an invisible object held in Hikari's hand, its length was about the same as her arm. She moved it and sliced through the air in front of her, the sheer force caused a strong gust of wind whip Sasuke's wet hair against his face. Whenever the two of them were training, it was primarily strength training, and chakra control, he did not know that she could do complex jitsu's like this. He had seen her fight when they were younger and he was too young to understand exactly how powerful she was. He might actually have to dodge her attacks...

He saw her make a step towards him and then disappeared into this air. His eyes widened, another jitsu? No, he could hear her steps, but from where? The rain drowned out her near silent steps. How could she be this fast? Sasuke activated his sharingan, just in time to see her appear in front of him. She sliced in line with his chest, Sasuke ducked just in time to have the hair that usually hung in front of his fact slightly trimmed. Sasuke huffed hooked his ankle around hers, unsuccessfully. She was fast, she had always been fast, he knew that, given that they could never play tag when they were younger, the only one able to keep up at  her level was itachi - it was always fun to watch Itachi try to catch her in his ANBU uniform as if she was a ninja from the bingo book.

She sliced a few more times, successfully evading him every time he tried to grab one of her limbs. He would have to resort to less traditional ways, there was no telling how long this was going to go on and He could tell there was a lot more to Naruto and Hinata's visit. The blonde had been antsy and avoiding his gaze their entire walk here. They were always able to communicate with less words if they made eye-contact, it was clear that his friend was hiding something. Something important and he needs to find out soon, so that he can strategize accordingly.

He had to act quickly. His eyes quickly darted to the pair sitting watching their battle intently, any other day he would want to show off and make them marvel at his power, but he needed this to end. Hikari did not look the slightest bit tired and he had been evading her attacks for almost an hour at that point. He knew that his next move was probably going to cause Madara turn in his grave, but he had to do what he had to do.

He took out three kunai, Hikari's eyes widened, he had never held a weapon towards her. He had told her that Uchiha men would not attack a woman unless in real battle. She braced herself as a kunai zipped towards her feet at an unrealistic speed, if it were anyone else they would have been injured. Hikari could dodge it, with not as much ease as she would have liked, before she could fully recover another one sped towards her face and just passed her eyes as she narrowly dodged it. Her gaze followed the kunai, which was her mistake, because as she turned back to a shirtless Sasuke, she watched him throw the last one, having not fully regained her footing, she -... a shirtless Sasuke. Her eyes, that should have been only on the kunai speedily making its way to her, were pulled by some unearthly gravitation force back to his chiseled form. Having not seen it as much as a person who sleeps in his bed every night would like to. He had toned up a lot since she had first seen him shirtless. Before she could even process what was going on, Sasuke's form 'poofed' into a kunai which fell to the ground and the kunai that was less that a foot away from her transformed into a very shirtless and very damp Sasuke.

He acted quickly, tackling her and pinning her to the ground under him. Hikari gasped, trying to push back the blush on her face and glared at him.

As if I needed anymore reasons to be attracted to you. They both thought at the same time.

"Hikari, someone who has been through what I have been through has lived the life I have lived, because I can't forget what home was," he whispered, he watched her glare melt slowly,

"Then why would you destroy our home, Sasuke?" she asked,

"Hikari, I destroyed a kitchen, out of anger because someone had the gall to insult the only person that could make that apartment feel like a home," he explained, watching understanding envelope her gaze,

"I would destroy mansions, castles and nations, if it meant protecting you, Hikari. Home is not a place to me anymore. I have been almost everywhere this land in search of such a place and never found it. I have never felt it. Not until you came back to me, Hikari. You are my home," he confessed, he watched as Hikari's eyes filled with that same flame of admiration, words that have not uttered to one another yet, but both were well aware that that they both shared that same feeling with each other. They would when the time was right.

A smirk crossed her face as her eyes traveled down his body that was still above hers,

"Tell me something Sasuke, if I had not reacted or you did not switch back in time and the kunai had pierced my skin, if you were to turn back, would you - too -be penetrating me? " She asked smirking as she felt his form stiffen at the implication,

"HIKARI-" Sasuke chided, fully red and tried moving away from her, not letting her know how much his body liked her very scandalous words, she acted quickly raising her legs to kick down his knees making lower body nearly fall on her, but Sasuke was a trained ninja, and ex S-Rank criminal, he had enough core strength to catch himself and hold himself up in a 'plank' from while being this flustered,

She giggled at his behaviour and leaned up, tilting her head so that her lips could meet his,

"N-No, we have an audience," Sasuke said, blushing as he pulled away, causing the rain to stop and Hikari to laugh,

"Sure, now the two of you remember that we are here!" Naruto commented rolling his eyes, the three laughed and Sasuke and Hikari separated and walked to the tree where Hinata and Naruto sat. Naruto removed his hand from a blushing Hinata's eyes.

"Really Onee-sama?" she asked sounding almost exasperated, which cause the older twin to smile,

"Damn Hika, you are a lot more strong than you look, we should totally train together sometime-" Naruto complimented her as he wat the sky start clearing up, but then noticed a furious pair of sharingan on him " - all of us together!" he quickly added, trying calm down his territorial friend.

" I am sure that could be arranged, Naruto-kun, I believe that we could all benefit from that training session."  Hikari said, taking a seat next to her sister.

"Now please tell me what this was all about?" she said and noticed how the blonde and her sister tensed a little, her eyes quickly caught Sasuke, both silently telling each other to brace themselves,

"W-Well, as you know I did not approve a scroll being sent to you...that w-was the elders and father who sent a runner before informing me of what this was all about..." Hinata said, playing with her fingers again, as she used to.

"And I b-by n-no means agree w-with a-a-any of them," she continued, Hikari watched her sister with a frown. It had been months since the girl had stuttered this way. The two of them being back together had had a large impact on the younger Hyuga twin's demeanor, she had become a confident clan leader and her former timid self was almost fully forgotten.  Whatever this was, it was clearly bad because it had her sister's nerves on edge.

"Out with it, dear sister," Hikari urged, putting a hand on her sister's, Hinata nearly flinched at the touch, she looked up to meet Hikari's gaze with unshed tears in her eyes. The sight had caused a sudden chill in the breeze as what was left of the clouds created a melody of thunder in the sky. The older twin's back straightened, she was still unsure of what it was, but it clearly unsettle her sister which made her struggle to maintain the storm of emotions raging in her chest. She did not dare look at Sasuke who would know how she felt immediately after finally having calmed down,

"I-I... W-Well...They..." Hinata tried, but her words seemed to be caught in her throat, Naruto gently put his hand on Hinata's shoulder and nodded, letting her know that he assist her with this,

"Well, Hikari, since you are not the clan head and the next heir will not come from your line... It makes you a member of the branch family... and-" before he could finish his sentence, Hikari's widened and grabbed her sister, dashing to the other side of the training ground before Naruto could break the news to Sasuke,

"- they want to put a seal on her,"

That evening Kakashi and many of his ANBU had to pull apart his former students after the news got out that Susanoo and the 9 tails were fighting on one of the training grounds. Massive explosions of chakra were being release causing the village trembles from its waves alone. They had fully destroyed the training grounds they were on (despite it being the biggest one, almost 10 times bigger than regular ones) and all the closest surrounding ones. The sight of the large ghostly warrior and flaming fox glowing in the dark stormy sky etched into the brains of all who saw it.

Naruto and Sasuke. Many found it easy to forget what they were when they watched how domesticated and playful in the everyday lives.

Forgetting that they both individual had the kind of power to flatten nations if they chose to do so.

They were living legends.

Latent powers.

Sleeping giants waiting for a war.

Only then did those who were ninjas understand the gap. Only then did a group of Pearlescent eyes understand what exactly they were up against.
