Part 21

"Damnit Uchiha," Hikari muttered as she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror as she set the food on the kitchen island. Sasuke looked at her frown and blush as she looked at her reflection. He knew she was not as angry as she was pretending to be as she smoothed her hair and paid special attention to fixing the collar of her yukata higher than she usually keep it.  Once she was presentable again, she looked over to Sasuke who already had his eyes on her and had a devilish smirk on his face as he bit into a rice ball, without dropping eye contact, which made her blush even more.

"Sasuke, if you continue to undress me with your eyes, I might actually concede and undress myself right here," she said, despite her blush she was dead serious, which made Sasuke choke on his food,

"H-Hikari!" Sasuke said blushing once he gained his breath back,

"You started i-" just then they were interrupted by a yellow flash running straight through their door, for once Hikari could not detect him coming before he entered which made her body straighten from shock. Sasuke, on the other hand, was quick to act as he held Hikari closer to his side as he blew a fire ball, a faint "poof" could be heard from the flames as another yellow flash climbed through the kitchen window,

"Wait Teme, I-" he was met with the same fate as the flames were direct him,

"Sasuke, the kitchen," Hikari said only half pulling Sasuke out of his stupor, deciding that it would be better if the fight were to get outside, as he bid his thumb summoning five snakes, that were just about taller than him, their heads just about the same size as his,

"Let no one who tries to enter live, with minimal damage to my dwelling" Sasuke said, his voice was barely more than a whisper, the snakes barely gave any indication of understanding before darting to attack the next Naruto clone who tries to enter.

Hikari watched as their large scaled bodies twisted and coiled as they slivered towards their target, in an intricate dance all perfectly coordinated. She had known that Sasuke spent a significant amount training under the snake-sannin, Orochimaru and that his summons were all snakes...but she never knew they were that...big. She tried to calm her shaking legs by sitting down and chose to avert her gaze from the large serpants. She tried to ignore the phantom scaled appendages she felt crawling against her skin by clenching her fists and breathing shallowly.

She felt a familiar presence making its way to their apartment, and the hissing amongst the commotion outside made her gain what little composure she could, the fear of the serpents harming her sister overcoming her own fear of the serpents.

"S-Sasuke..." her voice seemed to break him out of his trance, she herself was taken aback by how timid and strained it sounded. His eyes made its way to Hikari's tear filled ones. She was paler than usual and her own persperation made her yukata stick to her body in a way that Sasuke found very distracting, as he turned to her,

"What's wrong?" he asked, very concerned.

"Are you tired again?" he asked touching her face with back of his hand and then her neck to check for a fever,

"My sister, call them off!" Hikari finally, Sasuke looked up and released his snakes. He could hear Naruto huffing outside as he too dispelled his clones. He could also hear a pair of light steps making their way to the front door.

"Onee-chan, I d-didn't s-send it!" Hinata cried, as soon as she entered, her face red probably from over exertion from running and with tears threatening to fall from her eyes. Once her eye landed on her pale sister, who also seemed to be holding back her own tears, she ran to where her sister was sitting and fell to her knees in tears,

"P-Please forgive m-me, whoever authorized this c-cruel joke will be punished," she said, with her head lowered, Hikari's gaze softened as she caressed her twin sister's cheeks wiping away her tears.

"I told you that she would never have sent me that cursed item," she told Sasuke, giving him a pointed look. Naruto finally made his way through the door once he sense the Uchiha's chakra levels stabilize,

"Of course Hina, wouldn't not after everything that's happened," Naruto said, still slightly annoyed that Sasuke attacking him. What annoyed Naruto even more is that he completely understood why the Uchiha was attacking him, this situation clearly had the man riled up and there was no one else in the village that would survive Sasuke's wrath when letting out his pent up anger, he only wished that his best friend would at least wait until they got to a training field, a large one. One where their Hyuga princesses were far out of harm's way. He looked at Sasuke, who had his arms crossed, he could see that his friend was monitoring him from his peripheral as his eyes were trained on Hikari, Naruto sighed and nodded to Sasuke, assuring him that it was okay and that once again he understood the Uchiha in a way that the rest of the world could not. Sasuke's posture relaxed somewhat at Naruto's silent message. They had both come a very long way since the days when they would go about nearly killing each other with little to no understanding of what was meant behind the aim of their fists. Simultaineasly, Sasuke had come a long way from using his fists to communicate, he could not blame him in that moment because of everything that has been happening in his life, Sasuke Uchiha, was facing a situation that he had grown very accustomed to living without, having something precious, something to lose.

"What is in it?" Hikari said, bring Naruto out of his thoughts, Hinata had finally calmed down. Hinata's back stiffened,

"I-I..." she tried,

"I think we should all head out for a walk," Naruto interrupted her, sighing knowing that it would best to be far away from civilians if Sasuke were to find out fresh hell the Hyuga clan had cooked up.
