Suns Out, World Burns (@FadingGenes)
Suns Out, World Burns
I saw a man walking
behind his dog this afternoon
I walked past a cemetery
with willows evergreen -
It was strange to see the man's faith
And life growing out of wastage -
I saw the sun bright, and clear skies
Yet the air was colder than ice -
The lack of warmth unnerved me
Is the sun finally giving in too?
It's a strange melancholy.
Suddenly the home is not homely
It's as foreign as can be -
Now cold seems comfort
If the heart thaws, it'll hurt.
I'll watch the world burn
and scratch my eyelids
with all its furious patterns.
