CHAPTER 43
My question is very simple.
So many reads
But why such few votes and comments?
Any specific reason?
The golden sun dipped below the horizon as the Rivera brothers leaned against the railing of their private cruise ship, the sea stretching endlessly around them.
Alexander swirled his whiskey, the ice clinking softly, while Elijah reclined lazily on a chaise lounge, his ever-present smirk lighting up his face. Lucian stood with his arms crossed, scanning the waters as though the ocean might rise up to challenge him.
"I've been thinking," Elijah started, his grin widening mischievously. "Wouldn't it be amazing if we just pushed them off into the sea right now? Let the sharks feast a little. Then we'd be free to marry our little dove without any baggage."
Lucian rolled his eyes. "And what exactly do you plan on telling the world? That all our wives just happened to fall victim to some freak shark attack? You think the media's going to buy that?"
Elijah chuckled. "Why not? Accidents happen. Tragic, unfortunate... delicious accidents."
Alexander, who had been silent, set his drink down on the teak railing. "If we're going to dispose of them," he said smoothly, "we'll do it in a way that raises no suspicions. Not even a whisper. In fact," he continued, a devilish glint in his eye, "the world will pity us so much that they'll celebrate when we 'move on' with August. That's how you handle loose ends."
Lucian's lips twisted into a smirk. "Ah, so you're suggesting we turn them into martyrs? The grieving husbands who tragically lost their wives... only to find solace in the arms of the same woman?"
Alexander's smirk matched his brother's. "Precisely."
Elijah clapped his hands, laughing. "I like it. Poor little dove won't even know what happened for the world roots for us."
The brothers shared a dark laugh, their plans laced with cruelty and obsession.

Meanwhile, back at the villa, the sisters sat under the twilight glow, discussing their lives—or pretending to. Each carried a mask of contentment, speaking highly of their "amazing" nights with their husbands.
Sophia tilted her head, her smile brittle. "Shylah, how's Elijah treating you? It must be... exciting, right?"
Shylah stiffened, her fingers gripping her teacup tightly. "Oh, yes," she replied, her voice forced. "It's been... unforgettable."
Scarlet chimed in, her laugh hollow. "Same here. Lucian has been... attentive."
But inwardly, the sisters were all battling the same thoughts. Something was wrong. They couldn't remember anything about their nights, as if their minds were wiped clean. The realization was chilling, yet none of them dared admit it.
Sophia's thoughts swirled. Is Alex drugging me? Is that why I can't remember a thing? She forced a smile and excused herself, determination burning in her chest.
Sophia searched their room meticulously, but the Alexander had left no evidence of his deceit.
Sophia clenched her fists.
"Is he truly drugging me or am I just imagining. Could it be my health? No, No. This has never happened to me before. I am sure Alex just wants to avoid me that's why he is doing this but tonight I will have him no matter what."
Sophia smirked.

At dinner, Sophia spoke, destroying the silence "I think," she began, glancing at her sisters, "we should have a girls' night tonight. Just us. It's been a while since we've spent time together."
Shylah and Scarlet exchanged glances, not understanding her sudden plan but They nodded quickly, forcing smiles. They also needed one night to understand what was happening with them.
Elijah raised an eyebrow, his smirk playful but suspicious. "A girls' night? Without us? How will you survive?"
He wasn't concerned about Shylah getting away. He just wanted to make sure they consume the drug tonight too.
Sophia's lips curled into a practiced smile. "Don't worry. We'll manage."
Lucian snorted but said nothing, while Alexander studied her carefully, his sharp gaze unnerving.
The brothers eventually relented, and the sisters took their plates to a shared room. Once there, Sophia disposed of the food without touching a bite, ensuring no traces were left behind.
The sisters looked at their eldest sister in confusion.
Sophia paced, her thoughts running wild, while Scarlet and Shylah sat in strained silence, stealing glances at one another.
"Soph? What's going on ?" Scarlett asked.
Finally, Sophia broke the quiet. "I need to know," she said, her voice sharp with determination. "Tell me honestly. Do either of you remember anything from the nights you've spent with them?"
Scarlet and Shylah gulped, and reluctantly they shook their head. "No... Nothing. It's all a blur. I wake up every morning feeling like something's missing."
Shylah hesitated, her voice trembling. "I don't remember either. I thought it was just me."
Sophia stopped pacing and turned to face them, her eyes narrowing. "I think we're being drugged. Every night."
Scarlet gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. "Drugged? But why? Why would they do this to us?"
Shylah's lips trembled as she spoke. "Because they don't want to... sleep with us. Elijah never touched me after the wedding night." Her voice cracked, and tears welled in her eyes.
Sophia's jaw tightened, anger flaring. "How could they?"
Scarlet's gaze hardened. "We can't let this go on. We need to find out what they're doing to us—and why and if the drug is actually in this food or not."
Shylah nodded hesitantly, her fingers clutching the edge of her dress. "But how?"
Sophia exhaled deeply, her determination sharpening. "One of us will have to have this food to know if it's actually drugged or not"
The sisters glanced at eachother and finally it was decided that Shylah would finish the food.
The sisters waited
Hoping
Praying
Begging the gods above to be proven wrong but when Shylah grabbed her head and started to fell dizzy their hearts shattered.
"Shylah?" Sophia and Scarlett shook her but she didn't woke up.
"What now?" Scarlet asked Sophia.
"Dispose off the food from your plate first and wait for them to come here . We pretend. We let them think that . And tonight, we figure out what they're up to."
Scarlett worked quickly and silently, disposing of the food in the bathroom and flushing any evidence away. They returned to their seats, arranging themselves as though they'd eaten and were now under the supposed effects of the drug.
As they lay back, feigning unconsciousness, Sophia whispered, "No matter what happens, don't react. We need to hear why are they drugging us."
The sisters stilled, their breaths even, as they waited.
Soon, the door creaked open an hour later. Heavy footsteps approached, and the familiar voices of the brothers filled the room.
"Look at them," Elijah sneered, his tone laced with cruelty. "So obedient when they're like this. Quiet, just how I like it."
Lucian chuckled darkly. "The only time they're tolerable, really. Awake, they're just problems waiting to happen."
Lucian leaned down, brushing a strand of Scarlet's hair off her face. "This one especially," he hissed. His tone turned cold as he slapped her sharply across the face. The sound echoed through the room.
Scarlet's cheek burned, but she remained still, her breathing steady. Inside, she was trembling with rage and fear.
Elijah laughed bitterly. "Bitch," he spat. "So many days without my little dove, and I'm stuck dealing with this mess. When will this end?"
Lucian folded his arms, his smirk fading. "You're not going anywhere, Elijah. There's work to do, and you'll handle your share. No skipping out just to chase your obsession."
Elijah scoffed, rising to his full height. "Work's done. I've finished my part. It's you two dragging your feet."
Lucian's eyes narrowed. "Fucker. You can't just—"
Alexander, who had been standing silently near the door, finally spoke. "Enough," he said, his voice calm but commanding. "Eli you can go to Rose but keep yourself in control. Lucian you will stay with me in my study. We have priorities."
Lucian growled but didn't argue further. Instead, he turned back to the door, his gaze cold. "Fine" he muttered before storming out.
Elijah glanced at Alexander, his tone clipped. "What about them?" He gestured toward the sisters.
"Leave them," Alexander said, his expression unreadable. "Let them be. They would only remember their so called night out and then being passed out"
The brothers exited the room, the door slamming shut behind them.
Uh oh .... The sisters now know their secret 😏
What do you think gonna happen next? 🫢
