Angel
She's just so beautiful
I say to myself
Almost in complete and utter amazement
As if I had watched an angel fell from the sky
And came to rest right in front of me
Her darkened wings lying softly folded on her shoulders
Her blue eyes and gentle eyebrows focused
Her delicate fingers writing gracefully on the parchment in front of her with a quill
And of course her halo
Shining so brightly that no other light could shame it
Not even the sun could outshine the golden ring around her head
And I too wear a ring upon my head
But it is not a halo
But a crown
A crown of blackened thorns
Growing and grafting, digging their way deeper and determinedly into my skull
I sit pressed against a wall
The point of a gigantic nail against my chest
My lips and body dried and cracked
My mind delirious and shattered
And my heart exploding out of my chest as it pounds away inside
Then I felt it
To my horror I felt it
The cracking
The nail being driven into my chest
With a hammer wielded by me
I watch as I drive the nail, hearing the metal ring
Blood flying from my mouth with anguished cries
Blood seeping from my gaping wound
My breath raspy and wheezing
I grab at the nail trying to pull it free
Trying to free myself
I look to see the angel
Setting her quill down upon her paper
And walking towards me her eyes fixated on my corpse
Her hand outstretched I grasp it with shaky desperation
I open my mouth to speak but can't
I have so much to say but I can't form the words
Almost in silent understanding she grabs the nail with her hands
And jerks it free from my chest, killing me, my blood soaking her
And staining her beautiful halo
I sink to the ground in a crimson bath of my own blood
I look up at her the sun shining past her
Tears form in my eyes but before a single one can drop
I slip into the infinite darkness
My body feeling cold but then I felt it
A warm, wonderous feeling on my forehead
I force my eyes open to the angel, my angel as presses a gentle kiss to my head
Easing my pain as I finally slip away
