Wake up
Planet Voss never stopped being pretty to look at.
Though, when all you had ever associated with the place was fear and death, it did taint the image quite a bit.
Noob didn't really want to leave yet.
But when they woke up, they got up too. It was light out already, with-
Sun!
They squinted, it was somewhat of a flashbang. Their eyes hurt for a while, but eventually, they adjusted to the light. They were probably photophobic, they realised. What time was it?
Speaking of time, the timer reappeared. Three minutes, fifty four seconds.
That was around the time a regular round would start.
Huh. They were all right! This was just a very, very long round. And it would end soon, and they would be back at the cabin, and it would probably be time for sleep. Real rest!
A hopeful feeling rose in their chest.
THIS is what they were staying alive for. THIS is why they put so much work into all the documenting they did!
They ran around the place again. They couldn't find anyone's corpses, and the smell was gone.
Oh, okay! Normal round logic was back! Their bodies must've just disappeared, in the same odd way they usually would. They'd seen it happen before.
[If Noob is the last survivor alive, but C00lkidd also died, who's the killer?]
Then there was a gap in their memory. Something happened. They probably forgot walking there, but now they were with c00lkidd, and everyone else! And in that first room they met in, too.
Then the ground melted beneath them. Well, it didn't melt, it stretched. Stretched upwards, like weird fuzzy clay, and when they were brought back down again, their vision blacked out for a moment, before being snapped back to the grass.
Taph!
Why are you looking at me like that?
See, we're back to regular rounds again!
Taph?
Noob rested their hand on his shoulder. He fell downwards, but he disappeared before he hit the other hand Noob outstretched to catch him.
Just disappeared, into thin air.
They could still feel him on their hands, even though they weren't there anymore.
Aww...
They turned around, and were back in the rooms. Shedletsky lifted and spun his sword like Dusekkar would with his staff, and pointed it at Two Time.
Oh, we're back here again!
They sounded like they were underwater, their voices... Simply voices.
Noob knew they were saying something, but couldn't understand what they were saying. Shedletsky struck, but when it hit Two Time-
That's not Two Time. They turned into Shedletsky at the last second, and Shedletsky became Two Time. And when Two Time let go of the sword, they disappeared.
The whole time, the wound was... Obscured. Not exactly blacked out, but you couldn't focus on it if you tried. And again, Shedletsky disappeared before he hit the ground.
Noob walked over to that spot, and crouched down slightly, before putting their hand on the spot, and-
They fell right through, to the other side, and landed on a plain that was completely white. They couldn't find the spot where the world flipped upside down. Oh well.
Then they saw a ghostburger on a plate on the floor. Or at least, it was probably a ghostburger...? Either way, they could definitely go for any kind of burger right now!
So they sat down and picked it up, before biting into it.
They froze.
Your body is not yours. Your bend to the will, demands and desires of your unfortunate vessel.
That burger wasn't a burger. When they bit into it, it was like there was a sheet of metal hidden within, that promptly electrocuted them and spread across their insides. When they were allowed back into their body, they looked up, and the ground shifted into the sky, which then turned out to be the floor. They were lying down, looking at the sky.
Oh, okay! Back to stargazing, then. Noob always found the stars pretty. But the sky clouded over, and so they got up, where they were immediately struck by the visage of a very legless Two Time, whose wings tore through their back. They were on the floor.
The taste of the bloody, slimy flesh and skin was forced into Noob's mouth, and they couldn't get rid of it. They were simply stuck there, for what felt like forever, until they ate it all up. It wasn't until they were done licking and slurping at the wounds of the amputated limb that they were let go, and when they were, they had a headache, as if something inside of their head had been removed and they couldn't remember what it was.
The second gap came. They were walking on a bridge, and near them, a race was being hosted. They didn't care much for it, but they did watch, for a little bit.
They couldn't figure out what everyone looked like. But they could just imagine their appearance for them. They watched as the host fired their gun, starting the race.
Where had they heard that gunshot before...? Mm... It wasn't coming to them yet.
And then they remembered, and suddenly, they weren't standing on a bridge anymore, they were sitting on the arch.
Oh, the view! So pretty!
They kicked their legs back and forth over the edge. There was a nice breeze all the way up there, too.
They blinked, but when they opened their eyes, suddenly it was nighttime, and 007n7 and Guest 1337's bodies littered the floor beneath the arch. That won't do! How did that happen...?
Either way, they got up from the arch.
Yes, got UP.
They stood up, as if it were a chair, and stood on thin air, before walking all the way down, as if it were some kind of invisible staircase. And when they got to the last step, they fell through the floor again.
Another gunshot rang out.
They were somewhere that was completely black, with no lighting whatsoever. They kept walking into boxes and walls.
Eventually, they found themselves in a hallway, with a door that was outlined by bright, white light. Outside! They opened the door.
And it led underwater.
Maybe they drowned, or something, because that's all they remembered before they woke up in some kind of office, on a bench.
"-Oh, they're awake!"
...
Guest... 666?
What were they doing here?-
Noob opened their mouth to speak, but no words came out.
"Don't say anything. I know what you're thinking - but I gotta show you something! I have to show you the REAL world. We can get you out of here."
"I- r-really...?"
"Yes! We have a, a breakthrough of sorts. It's hard to explain, but it'll make sense soon!... I promise."
"What about everyone else? Can we get them out too?"
"Are you sure they deserve it?"
...What?
Of course! No one deserved to suffer that hell, and especially not them.
"Yeah."
"Have they suffered enough?"
"Huh?"
"How much do they have to suffer for them to deserve to be let go?"
"All of these killing games, I guess...?"
"Is that really what you think?"
"Yeah."
"But they're all in good condition, are they not?"
"No..."
"I mean, physically. They're all so lucky as to be granted their whole body's use in the killing games."
"That's a standard, not luck...?"
"Then, what about people without that?"
"I don't understand..."
"What about people... Without arms? Without legs?"
"What about someone without a face?"
Then a picture of someone with no face and their face, only irises and mouth, with no head or body flashed right after each other, and Noob immediately woke up.
Day 18 on planet Voss.
Wh... What... That... Was just a dream. Of course it was. Of course... Because nothing good ever happens here, unless you purposefully force it. Awesome! Amazing! Great! Wonderful!
It was dark outside, and then they remembered everything they couldn't in the dream.
All the ugly reasons behind the consecutive deaths of eight people. They didn't even need a killer to all die. All those pictures and feelings and sounds they couldn't get out of their head, that repeated so endlessly they even wrote it all down and read over it day after day, with regular updates.
And what they thought about last night, right before they were taken by unconsciousness.
Ah, right, now it was time for the actual reasoning.
They thought it over in their head. The events were so recent, but they were already treating it as an event far in the past. They wanted it to have been a longer time ago, because maybe then they wouldn't have to be thinking about it.
But Two Time was right. Elliot was right and Chance was right when they all said that there simply wasn't a point to being here. They showed it with how they went.
There, genuinely, was no reason at all why anyone would ever want to stay in such a miserable place.
Maybe it was the whole dying part that discouraged them. Either it was a bullet through them, which was painful, but somewhat quick, or it was snap your neck simulator jumping off the arch, which came with the cold fear coursing through your body the longer you waited to hit the ground. Neither options were especially nice, but they were necessary in this situation.
Noob didn't want to die. But if dying led to a better living, and there was no life in their current one, then hell, it was never their choice anyway.
But they were frozen in place. They just couldn't get any of those pictures out of their head.
So they simply lied there for a couple hours, until they had finally calmed down a little bit.
This was it, embarrassingly so.
And taking their final walk around planet Voss, refreshing their memory on what they would likely soon forget, they climbed up to the arch, and walked all the way up to the top.
It was so disheartening to think that this was the result of all their combined efforts. But it takes a real masochist to lengthen the already unbearable torment, so they decided they'd rather be a coward than someone needlessly suffering.
And they weren't going back on the promise they made to themselves.
So they looked down at everything around them, took a breath, and jumped.
