chapter 3

Double update because @246_wry was a sweetheart

"IS THAT ALL YOU GOT!?" Jimin yelled.

"ARGHHHHHHH NO I CAN DO ONE MORE!" Taehyung shouted back at the same volume.

Yoongi's eyes snapped open and for a moment he was disoriented. Ah right, they are currently in the gym room in Jungkook's penthouse. Yoongi was laying down on the workout bench. He turned on his side to watch the pair. Which exercise are they at now?

Taehyung's form is all wrong. His legs are too near the floor and his arms are at an odd angle. Okay, still push-ups.

Taehyung slumped ungracefully on the floor. He panted and his voice came out in airy breaths, "oh my god, I don't think I did that many push-ups in my life before."

"We are in the house of the Devil here, and you only did twenty. Jungkook does three hundred a day." Jin said between bites of his jajamyeon while doing a perfect squat.

"I'm not even going to bother stopping Envy." Jennie commented as Namjoon dropped to the floor and tries to do three hundred push-ups as well.

A hundred and eighty degrees from his personal-trainer-from-hell mode, Jimin cheerily said, "I think you did well, Tae! Remember how you could only do three push-ups a week ago?"

Taehyung grimaced. It was three push-ups with bad form and that was all he could do on a good day. His body simply can't build muscles as quickly as other people.

And the twenty today is mostly thanks to Jimin who used his powers to fuel anger into Taehyung to finish the push-ups. Alas, there is a limit to what he can do as Taehyung does not have the muscle strength to do the exercises properly. If he's a Gameboy, he'd be the Gameboy pocket and no one even plays it now.

"You know what, perhaps what Tae is missing out on is the right diet." Seokjin said as he slurped the last bit of the noodles. "I can cook for you meals which help you build muscles quickly."

"Isn't this too much effort?" Jennie asked.

"Not at all if we want to get rid of Taehyung's nerd boy image before he graduates." Jimin replied.

Yoongi remembers. His fellow sins believe turning Taehyung into a hottie would give him the confidence he needs.

Jennie shrugged. She didn't like the idea of gaining confidence from one's looks. But her fellow sins were insistent and Taehyung said he would like to try working out for a better body so who is she to say anything else?

What she is though, is bored. She would like to leave the house for some fresh air.

Jennie said, "I'm free so I'll be Sloth's driver for today. Come on sloth, I'm going to get ice cream and you will not be late for your shift again."

Sloth closed his eyes in response.

"Get up," Jennie said as she lifted a heel to prod Yoongi's calf. "You've got to earn your own keep. I'll let you sleep in the car."

Yoongi jolted awake. The Louboutins which Lust favours are sharp beyond belief. He begrudgingly stood up and followed her out of the door before he changes his mind.

"Have fun, Yoongi hyung and Jennie noona!"

Yoongi gave him a half-hearted wave while Jennie said before shutting the door, "I'll buy a tub of ice cream back for you, sweetie!"

"Oh no, you're not going to eat that." Jin said as he started on the beef rice. "Unless you're going to burn it away."

"How's a hundred sit-ups sound?" Jimin asked.

Taehyung groaned. He will just have one small scoop instead.

In the car, Jennie hummed along to her favourite music channel softly. She has an unexpectedly sweet and soft voice.

She was in a good mood as she was looking forward to trying the new ice cream store alone after dropping Yoongi off at the hospital for his work.

She parked her white Ferrari a few feet away from the entrance, making the heads of a few passers-by turn as it was an uncommon sight. As she stepped out, some strangers even stopped and forgot to breathe for a moment in the presence of such beauty. As if broken out of a trance, they only moved after she entered into the ice cream store.

"Welcome!" An energetic voice with a slight accent greeted Jennie, "please wait a moment and I will assist you at the ice-cream-" Lalisa turned around from wiping down the table and she paused at the sight of Jennie.

She took in the black Louboutins, fitting black dress, silver watch and bracelet, cat-eye sunglasses, engine-red lipstick and lastly, the woman in them who looked like sin, and she swallowed, hoping she wasn't drooling, "-counter."

"Um, h-have you been here before to try our in-house sp-special?" Okay, not too much stuttering, good job, Lalisa congratulated herself. She blinked twice, clearing her head of all thoughts and focused on serving the customer.

"Not yet, what would you recommend?" Jennie replied.

"Our best-sellers are the Specaloos, the Classic Vanilla, the Earl Grey Tea, the Lychee Sorbet and our new flavour," Lalisa consciously slowed down as she has yet to master the new word properly, "the Pistachio."

Huh, this girl recovered pretty fast. Most humans take more than a moment to collect themselves while in the presence of a sin. Call Jennie impressed.

"Hmmm, I will get the Pistachio then."

"Thank you, that will be three dollars and please wait a moment while I scoop your-" there is that slight drop in talking speed again, "- Pistachio ice cream for you."

Jennie looked at her name-tag and concluded the girl is a foreigner.

"Thank you, Lalisa."

Lalisa almost lost her grip on the ice cream cone at the way her name rolled off Jennie's tongue. It was as if a breeze tickled her ear. "You're welcome..." she mumbled.

Jennie made sure to take her treat before she smiled at the mortal. She had watched enough servers drop her cone to learn that much. Lalisa inhaled sharply as she watched those lips tug at the corners.

Lalisa has the urge to speak more with the customer but she has nothing to say. She could only manage a, "t-there's paper cups and water too in the canister by the wall if you need it."

"Thanks," Jennie said as she made her way to a table near the canister.

Lalisa sighed. That's the end of the conversation. She hopes she would be kept busy soon so that she wouldn't keep glancing over at the customer of whom she doesn't even know the name of.

The tinkling of the door chime indicates her prayers were answered.

"Welcome to Pinky's!" Lalisa greeted with a grin.

"Welcome to Pinky's," the customer slurred heavily before snickering. The smile dropped off from Lalisa's face and Jennie subtly looked over. Jennie swears that mop of curly brown hair and freckles were familiar.

"What do you want, Gene?" Lalisa asked. This doofus never forgets to drop by to taunt her once in a while. If he wasn't a paying customer and if she was the boss, she would have slammed the door in his face. But she is just a part-timer so she would have to do what she is paid for.

Gene Park. Jennie remembers now.

"I will get the new flavour, Pistachio."

Lalisa scooped it for him and no, she isn't petty enough to give him a smaller portion even though she really wants to kick him out. She said, "that would be three dollars."

"What, you're not gonna say 'here's your Pistachio ice-cream'?"

Lalisa knows this is just a ploy but she couldn't stop the heat from crawling up her cheeks. She hissed, "no I won't. Now get out or seat yourself at a table."

Hmm the cutie is feisty too. She seems to be managing the situation well enough so Jennie decided to return to her ice-cream.

Too bad Gene was not letting up today.

"Come on, it's not that tough is it? You'd be stealing local jobs but can't say 'Pistachio'?" Gene dragged out the last word on purpose.

Jennie stood up and disposed of the serviette in the bin. She walked over to the counter, her heels forming a rhythmic melody on the marble tiles.

Jennie stopped right in front of Gene who looked her up and down and while he found her one of the hottest people he had ever seen, he also found her utterly familiar. Jennie took off her Fendi shades and Lalisa gulped at her face. Wow and she thought just that body was smoking.

As Gene's face turned a pasty shade of white, Jennie said, "Mr. Park, I expect an essay on the history of American presidential speeches on racism from the nineteen hundreds to today, on my table by Monday nine hundred hours sharp, written in English."

Gene stuttered, "P-professor Kim, I can explain."

"Oh yeah? Sure, I'm waiting." Jennie graciously offered while Gene opened his mouth and closed it again.

Jennie smirked, "not so eloquent now, are we?"

Lalisa tried to muffle her giggle behind her hands but Jennie heard, throwing her an amused smile.

Jennie continued, "now Mr. Park, I have grown a liking to this ice-cream store and I wouldn't want to see you here again. Do you hear me?"

Gene only turned around and exited the store as fast as he could. Lalisa mentally updated the shortest time Gene lingered around in the store to today's timing. She really hopes he wouldn't come again.

"Thank you, you didn't have to do that Miss Kim." Lalisa said. Oh no, did that come off as ungrateful?

"B-but I mean I am very thankful for your kindness!" She clarified anxiously.

Jennie smiled and said, "I'll get going. See you around, cutie."

Cutie? CUTIE? She called me a cutie?? Lalisa mentally squealed. Oh no she didn't even get her first name or number and Jennie was already out of the door.

Jennie hummed as she got into her car and drove past the store, chuckling at the sight of Lalisa having a mental breakdown.

Three hours later, Jennie was back at the store after picking Yoongi up.

"A tub of Pistachio ice-cream please. Can you keep it in an ice box?"

"Yes, of course!" Lalisa was surprised to see Jennie again so soon.

As Lalisa passed her the ice-cream, Jennie places a serviette with her name and number into her hands.

GIRL CRUSHHHHH

This was so fun to write!! And it looks like this story is as much about the seven as it is about Taehyung and Taekook and I like that 😊

Please vote or comment, thank you!

P.s. if you see English names, it means I have no idea what to call the character and it's not based on anyone
