chapter 27 b - Epilogue

There is a price to pay for everything.

Youngjae willingly paid with pain by following fate's tracks in exchange for the friendships he had made at Galactica.

The Twins paid with their lives when the forbidden spell they used couldn't consume any life force within the set radius and turned back on the casters and devoured them before extinguishing.

Jungkook paid with his physical body crumbling apart when it couldn't handle him using his powers fully to put up the largest energy shield he had ever made. He had no regrets, because after him, the spell's next target would be his friends and Taehyung, and many other innocents.

"Kook, no, no..." Taehyung fell to the ground along with Jungkook as he tried to catch the pieces breaking apart and floating into the sky.

Jungkook opened his mouth, wanting to tell Taehyung so many things, about getting both sunflowers and lavender in their field since Taehyung couldn't decide, how a bigger cabin is absolutely necessary to store both Taehyung's books and Jungkook's action figurines, for Taehyung not to cry...

But he couldn't because a darkness is dragging him down and soon, he couldn't see.

Present time

Taehyung carefully adds the stone from JayB's pendant onto the body in front of him. Technically it is Yugyeom's necklace from Valhalla, the very one which JayB was wearing so that he was protected from the Twins' poison.

Taehyung nods to Jackson.

Beads of cold sweat formed on Jackson's forehead as he concentrated, summoning the tiniest ribbon of celestial lightning and directing it to the stone.

The purple spark danced around the stone, sizzling the surrounding air as it entered the stone bit by bit, infusing the stone into the body.

Taehyung clasped his hands together, "please please please..."

Everyone breathed quietly, watching with anticipation as the stone took on a purple hue.

"Is it working?" Jimin asked as the stone shone brighter.

"I think so—no..." Taehyung's small smile of relief slipped as the glow died down and the stone turned a dull shade.

"It's okay," Jungkook consoles, but before he could get another word in, Taehyung snapped.

"It's not okay! My boyfriend can now only communicate with me using a computer because he doesn't have a physical body anymore and I thought that this time this could finally work!"

Taehyung burst into tears, the disappointment and frustration hitting him all at once and Jungkook could do nothing but wish he could hold Taehyung now.

"Excuse me, Doctor Kim," Doctor Choi voices meekly, apologetic for interrupting the dramatic moment, "but the body seems ready for inhabitation?"

Everyone snapped their heads in the direction of the screen, just in time to see the health bars complete loading.

"It looks like the stone had been fully utilised and this body can take on pressure from approximately ten thousand times the sun," Doctor Choi informs.

He adds on, "shall we start the merging process?"

One year later

Jungkook was careful with his movements as he placed the crown woven from lavender and sunflowers on Taehyung's head, the doctor sleeping soundly, cocooned amongst the blanket and many pillows.

Then Jungkook laid himself down beside him and not being able to hold himself back, he pecked Taehyung's nose. Jungkook laughs quietly to himself when the doctor scrunched his nose and continued sleeping.

Jungkook looked around the cozy cabin. An in-built bookshelf covering half the walls is spilling with Taehyung's books and the other side of the cabin holds a large display case with all of Jungkook's figurines in them. Light filters in from the window, casting a soft glow.

The sight of Taehyung sleeping makes Jungkook feel relaxed as well and he thought that since they are on vacation, there is no harm sleeping in a bit more.

"Kook..." Taehyung opened an eye and closed it then extended his arms, "cuddle with me..."

Jungkook didn't need to be told twice to scoot over closer and tangle their limbs together. Yeah, he'd sleep a little more.
