Chapter 5: Indestructible

Song: Indestructible- SNSD

-Song Ji Hyo-
I peeked into the hallway to make sure no one was there. You'd think people would leave you alone since its the second moth of school already, but no. When the coast was clear, I hurried over to my locker and opened it with a sigh of relief. So far so good.
I took out my binder and something fell to the floor. Hmm... I bent down and picked up a beautiful gold ring.

"Is this real gold?" I muttered to myself and stared at the ring in amazement. It was beautiful.

At that moment a girl shouted. "There! Song Ji Hyo has it!"

I turned around in confusion and saw a group of girls walking towards me. Yoon Eun Hye was leading them.

"So, it was you huh?" Eun Hye asked. "You stole my ring?"

My eyes widened and I quickly shook my head. "No, it was just in my locker... I didn't steal it. Seriously."

Tiffany scoffed. "What? So it just grew legs and climbed into your locker?"

"Pathetic." Ailee said. "Hand it over, thief."

I held it out for Eun Hye and she snatched it out of my hand. "Wait until I tell Jong Kook about this. You know, I still don't know why HaHa hasn't demolished your house yet. Anyway, you're going to regret this Ji Hyo. But since he's not here right now, I guess we could deal with you ourselves, right?"

The girls started to move in. One of them took out a can of ginger ale and opened it. Ugh, are you serious. Before she could pour it on me, someone pulled me out of the crowd. I looked up and saw Gary.

"Oh Ji Hyo! I've been looking for you everywhere. Come on, Teacher Park needs to talk to us about something." Gary smiled at the annoyed looking girls. "Sorry, but I need Ji Hyo right now. But when I'm done, I'll hand her back to you, okay?"

"Whatever. We don't need her anymore." Eun Hye said in English which sounded funny. "Kim Jong Kook will deal with her himself." Eun Hye flipped her hair then walked away. The other girls didn't seem to understand what she said, but followed anyway.

"Ji Hyo, you have to stop purposely trying to get me to save you." Gary said seriously, but with a hint of humor in his voice.

"Thank you so much Gary. That was a good excuse." I said.

"Actually he wants to talk about my grade." Gary sounded nervous. "I have to go! See you at lunch Ji Hyo!" Gary said and went inside Teacher Park's classroom.

As I was walking towards my next class, I saw HaHa at his locker and walked towards him.

"Oh... Ji Hyo." He looked around as if afraid people would see us together.

"What's going on?" I asked. "Not that I'm complaining or anything, but why have you given me extra time?"

HaHa looked extremely nervous for some reason. He dropped the book he was holding and picked it up. "Ji Hyo...actually.."

"HaHa!"

I turned around and saw Jong Kook walking towards us with a smile on his face. Gosh why is he always so happy?

"Ji Hyo, I'm so sorry. Truly I am... please forgive me!" HaHa said quickly, glancing at Jong Kook who was coming closer.

"For what?" I asked, confused. "HaHa, what's going on?"

HaHa closed his locker. "Sorry, I have to go. Bye!!"

He ran away the minute Jong Kook came. Jong Kook watched him leave in confusion. "What's wrong with him?"

I threw Jong Kook a death glare and started to walk away only to be tripped by him.

I stood up from the ground and glared at him. "YAH!"

Jong Kook raised up a hand and smirked. "Sorry."

"You're really never going to grow up are you?" I asked in annoyance. "You think you're going to make friends by acting his way? Kim Jong Kook, you're the worst human being in this planet."

"Yah! At least I have a place in this school." Jong Kook said.

I shook my head and walked away.

"Mom, you said you were going to pick me up so where are you?!" I asked looked around the almost empty parking lot. It was freezing cold outside and I stupidly forgot to bring my coat.

"I'm almost there, just wait." My mom said then hung up.

I stared at my phone and sighed. I wonder if we have any kimchi left over from last night at home. Just thinking about it made me hungry. And right afterwards I should lay down in my bed and watch Korean dramas. Even though I hate the people from our school, I can't help watching their amazing shows. At that moment a car pulled up in front of me and I saw my mom through the window.

I opened the door and sat in the passenger seat. "About time. It was as cold as Antarctica."

My mom handed me some purple gloves from her purse. "Here, put these on. And close the door."

I did what she told me to do. "So where are we going?" I asked when she started driving.

"To a friends house." She answered immediately..

"Why can't we go home? I'm so hungry and tired." I complained.

"Ji Hyo... we can't live in our house anymore." My mom said slowly, not meeting my eyes.

"what?" I asked in shock. This can't be happening. "But why? Because of the stupid toy store?!""

She sighed. "That and mostly... because i didn't have the money to pay off the rent. They used that against me Ji Hyo. Anyway, we're going to be staying at my friends house until we can find a new place to live."

"Mom! You really let them take our house away that easily? You should've gone on strike!" I realized that I was crying, but I didn't bother to wipe the tears away.

"Ji Hyo. Look at them and look at us." She whispered. "They're high class and they can get away with anything while we're the ones who are always suffering. Life isn't that easy Ji Hyo."

I took a shaky breath. "Since we're already in a horrible situation, I should tell you about my life."

As I told my mom about everything that has happened in school. she started to cry as well. I didn't mention any names though.

"So now my life sucks even more." I muttered.

"Ji Hyo, I'm sorry. But... all I can tell you is don't show them your weak side. Stand up for yourself no matter what." She said.

Why do I feel like Gu Hye Sun, Jung So Min and my mom secretly meet up and think up of life mottos to tell me?

"Like you didn't stand up for our house." I questioned.

"There are many other houses as good as ours." My mom told me.

"Yeah, but the memories won't be as good." I stared out the window and sighed. My life sucked, and I intend to make it better for me and my friends. I won't show them my weak side anymore. They can torment me all they want, but soon they're definitely going to regret it.

Especially... Kim Jong Kook.
