-Song Ji Hyo-
"Andwae. No. Nope. Aish. Lizzy do you really think I'd wear something like that?" I asked in annoyance.
Lizzy sat down and put the blue heels back in its box. "Yah! I'm trying to help you prepare for your big day, but you're saying no to everything!"
"Seriously, why are you so stubborn Ji Hyo?" Eun Hye asked as she tried on a necklace.
I gave her a look. "Yah. I'm sorry I'm so stressed out. How can you not be?"
Eun Hye shrugged. "What's there to be stressed out about? You're about to be spending the rest of your life with your true love? Right?"
"What if he's not my true love?" I asked quietly.
"Yah! Boragoh? How can you say something like that?" Lizzy slapped my shoulder. "You and Gary have gone through so much together. I'd kill to be in your place. I'm still depressed that Nichkhun left me to focus on his music career."
"You're right." I said. "Gary and I belong together. And I'm sorry Lizzy."
Ailee walked inside the dressing room. "Unnie, have you heard from Joongki? Is he going to make it?"
I sighed and looked at myself in the mirror. "Andwae."
"Chincha? Aish what's wrong with that kid?" Ailee sat down on a couch.
"He said a plane ticket here would be too expensive just for a wedding." I murmured.
"Really? Even so... You're his best friend! If I were him I'd spend a thousand just to see my best friend get married." Ailee said. "If he ever comes back to Korea I'm going to give him a piece of my mind."
"Gumawo Ailee. And we were best friends." I corrected. "I don't think we're that close anymore."
"It's okay you still have us." Lizzy smiled. "If I ever see Joongki again I'm going to give him a piece of my mind."
"I think we all are." I said then groaned when Ailee handed me some white heels. "Can't I just wear sneakers?"
Ailee looked at me in shock. "Borago? Sneakers? At your wedding?!?"
Lizzy shook her head. "You're so lucky you have us here Ji Hyo."
"Arasso! Thank you guys so much for helping me. I would seriously have been so lost." I told Ailee and Lizzy once we were done.
"I'm going to go the bathroom! I'll be back!" Eun Hye waved and ran out the dressing room.
Ailee smiled. "Good thing we were here otherwise you would've walked down that aisle wearing sneakers."
I nodded. "Yup. I probably would've done that. See you around!"
Ailee and Lizzy waved and left the dressing room. Once they were done I looked at myself in the mirror and took a deep breath.
I can't believe I'm actually going to get married with Gary. I have thought about it sometime in the past, but I never imagined that the day would actually occur.
I remember when we first met. How could I forget it.
{flashback}
The students all stared at each other then started throwing the eggs and water balloons at me. I gasped and felt the yolk that was in my hair. They really are monsters. They started laughing and someone handed everyone more eggs.
Right when they threw it, someone ran towards me and hugged me. What the? I tried to struggle free until I realized that this boy was protecting me. I've gotten hit a little bit but the boy was covered in most of the egg yolk this time.
"Two of them! Someone get me the baking powder!" A student shouted and I recognized his voice. It was Lee Min Ho. His girlfriend, Park Shin Hye punched him in the arm.
"No, leave them alone." Shin Hye glanced at me then stared at all the other students. "Everyone! We have better things to do. Let's get to class!"
The students groaned and dispersed leaving me alone with my rescuer...that sounds too much doesn't it? I slowly looked up and noticed that the boy was also staring at me. Egg yolk was dripping down his face which sort of ruined the moment.
I steeped away from him. "Sorry...I mean, Thank you."
The boy nodded. "Don't worry. They've already done that to me. Looks like they came after you once they were finished with me. That means Nichkhun will be next...then Lizzy... then..."
"Did... did Suk Jin tell you this was going to happen too?" I asked awkwardly.
The boy nodded and furrowed his eyebrows. "Is there egg yolk all over my face?"
I stared at him and nodded. "Yes."
He groaned then held out his hand. "That sucks... anyway my name is Gary. Kang Gary."
I shook his hand. "Song JI Hyo."
"Well, I have to go get all this egg yolk off of me.. ugh, my clothes are dirty too. Good thing I decided not to wear my school uniform today. Looks like you did as well." He noted.
I looked down at my black skinny jeans and my blue buttoned up shirt. Then I touched my black hat that had $TRESS written on it.
He grinned. "Nice hat. Anyway, goodbye Ji Hyo! I'll see you around then."
I watched him leave and waved. "Bye Kang Gary."
{end of flashback}
I smiled to myself. I also remember my first meeting with Jong Kook. I actually thought that I'd end up with him after everything that we've been through, but Gary is the one for me. No matter what happened in the past it is and always will be Gary.
{flashback of Ji Hyo and Jong Kook}
I stomped my foot in frustration. "AISH! I didn't want to go to class anyway." I walked in the opposite direction angrily when I bumped into somebody.
"Watch where you're going!" I said angrily, but when I looked up I wished I kept my mouth shut. "Oh, I'm sorry." I immediatly apologized.
Kim Jong Kook sighed. "I hate people that always annoy me. You should stop tryingn to purposely bump into me Ji Hyo otherwise people are going to start getting the wrong idea."
"What?" I asked. "No, it's not like that. It was an accident."
Jong Kook smiled. "You know, why don't you just leave school already Ji Hyo. You or you're other friends aren't wanted here. So why stay? Running Man HIgh is for the talented, smart and wealthy students. Not the poor, weak, stupid, lousy and untalented ones."
Anger boiled inside of me. "We're not poor, nor stupid or any of the other things you told us."
Jong Kook shook his head. "No, you're wrong Ji Hyo. Gary is stupid. Lizzy is untalented. Joongki is lousy. Nichkhun is weak and Song Ji Hyo is all of those including...poor."
{end of flashback}
Jong Kook really changed. He was the biggest jerk, but now he's a better person. A really good person. I smiled again then frowned. Joongki. I hope he's doing well. I also remember when we first met. I actually never thought I'd be best friends with him saying how he teased me. Aish, that kid was so annoying when we were young.
{flashback of Joongki and Ji Hyo}
"Yah! How many times do I have to tell you that that's my swing?" 5 year old Joongki whined.
"There's two!" I complained (also 5 years old). "You can just take the other one."
"I know, but I always sit in that one. The other one is too high up for me." Joongki walked over to the swing and tried to pull me off.
"ANDWAE!" I kicked him and he fell to the ground.
Joongki started crying out of nowhere. Some kids started staring, and I quickly got off the swing and ran towards him.
"Are you okay?" I asked genuinely concerned. "It was an accident!"
Joongki smiled and ran towards the swing. I watched in shock as he sat on it and started laughing.
He was faking! Oh my gosh!
"Haha!" Joongki teased.
I felt myself starting to tear up, and started to head back home. I felt somebody tap on me and I turned around, wiping my tears.
"Don't cry." Joongki looked upset. "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Mianhe."
"Well you hurt them." I muttered. "I want to go home now!"
"Which way are you going?" He asked.
I pointed to the direction I was walking in. "That way."
"Me too!" Joongki said. "Let's go together."
"I don't even know you." I said with a look of disgust on my face. Why is this kid so creepy?
Joongki smiled. "My name is Song Joongki. I'm five years old!"
My eyes widened. "Chincha? My name is Song Ji Hyo! And I'm also five!"
"Really? We have the same surname!" Joongki said. "Maybe we're secretly related."
I laughed. "That would be cool!"
Joongki nodded. "We should be friends!"
I raised an eyebrow. "Are you going to let me sit on the swing next time?"
Joongki hesitated then nodded. "Always."
"Arasso then! We're friends." I smiled. "Kaja!"
Joongki laughed and we started to run home. We found out that we were next door neighbors and we've been best friends ever since.
{end of flash back }
I can't believe that he said he wouldn't be able to make it to my wedding. I don't know if I should be angry or upset.
Pabo, Joongki. You're my best friend. How could you not come?
Without thinking I took out my phone and called Joongki's number. I found myself hoping for him to pick up. We've been friends for too long for him to give up on me like this.
"Hello?"
My eyes widened. "J-Joongki!"
"Hi, how's your day?"
"How's my day?" I asked in shock. "Joongki what's wrong with you, hug? How can you call me your best friend? After--"
"Hey! Sorry, but I'm kinda busy right now! Kinda fooled you over there didn't I? I would answer, but as I'm currently busy I won't be able to get to the phone! So what you can do is leave your message after the beep sound I make and have a wonderful day! Thanks! Ready I'm going to make the sound in three, two one! Beep!"
Wow. It wasn't him, but just his voice message. For a second there I actually thought I was talking to Joongki.
I stifled a cough. "Hi... Joongki. It's me, Ji Hyo, you're best friend. Or did you forget? I'm.. Sorry, but even if you are on the other side of the world you should still come to see your number one friends wedding! We've known each other for so long that it just doesn't feel right to not have you there! I want you here in the same room with me when I get married! I miss you, best friend."
I hung up the call and threw my phone on the couch beside me. I felt myself starting to cry. Aish, why am I getting so emotional? Oh yeah, maybe because my best friend isn't coming to my wedding.
There was a quiet knock at the door. Startled, I turned around and saw Eun Hye.
"Mianhe, I couldn't help but overhear." Eun Hye slowly closed the dressing room door. "Are you okay?"
"Andwae." I admitted.
Eun Hye sighed and sat down beside me. "Ji Hyo, I know you miss Joongki. Heck everyone misses him, including me. But you shouldn't let that get in the way of your love life. You're about to be married to the love of your life."
She put a hand on my shoulder. "If you need a friend I'm here for you."
I looked at her. "Gumawo. Why did we hate each other so much in high school?"
Eun Hye shrugged. "Maybe because you kept trying to steal my boyfriend from me."
I looked at her smiling. "Yah! Honestly Jong Kook was the one coming after me!"
"Haha. There was so much drama back then. It all looks childish now!" Eun Hye laughed. "Didn't Kwang Soo ask you to have a dance battle with him in order to get to class?"
I nodded remembering the memory. "Yes! He forced me to dance to Gee by SNSD!"
{f
{flashback}
"In order to pass, you have to have a dance battle with me." Kwang Soo said.
"What? Why?" I asked.
"Just so you can see how great of a dancer I am." Kwang Soo said. "I'm guessing you already know who SNSD is, right?"
I looked at him blankly. "Who?"
Kwang Soo scoffed. "Unbelievable. SNSD, Girls Generation? Taeyeon, Sunny, Tiffany, Hyoyeon, Jessica, Yuri, Sooyoung, Yoona and Seohyun. They debuted and are top stars now. Of course, they still come to school here. But not as often. Anyway, we'll dance to SNSD'S most popular song. Gee. Let's start!"
"No!"
But too late. The music had already started. Kwang Soo lip sung to the beginning part of the song and started dancing crazily. I watched him with my mouth wide open.
"Beat this!" Kwang Soo said and started shuffling his feet whenever Gee gee gee gee baby baby came on. I just decided to copy his dance moves at the same point, but he was dancing so fast that I couldn't keep up.
I stomped my foot in frustration. "AISH! I didn't want to go to class anyway."
{end of flashback}
Eun Hye nodded. "Yeah, he told us all about it and how you gave up!"
"Wow okay. Dancing just isn't my expertise. I'm more into acting." I admitted.
"To be honest Dancing isn't Kwang Soo's expertise too." Eun Hye whispered and we both laughed. "Don't tell him I told you that."
I laughed. "You think I'm crazy? If I told Kwang Soo that he wasn't a good dancer then he'd probably be depressed for days. He might not even show up to the wedding, and we need that kid."
"True." Eun Hye nodded in agreement. "Arasso, so this conversation doesn't leave this room otherwise we might get thrown off a bridge."
I nodded. "Deal. Thanks Eun Hye. You really helped lift my spirits."
"Hey, that's what's friends are for. Right?" Eun Hye smiled.
"Right." I said with a smile.
"Come on, let's change and head to Seumdwa Coffee Shop. Once I get famous I probably won't even have any time to get coffee by myself anymore." Eun Hye said.
I laughed. "Probably not."
***
-HaHa-
Jong Kook told me to meet him up at Seumdwa coffee shop so that's where I am now. I still can't believe that he and Gary were getting married. Aish, I felt so left out. Ever since Suzy told me she didn't have feelings for me or wasn't planning on being in a relationship I felt really depressed. Now who is there for me to be with? I can't think of anyone that I would want to spend the rest of my life with besides Bae Suzy. Of course she probably has no time for me now even if I did want to see her since she's in the very popular girl group, Miss A. Oh well.
"What?" I asked as I drank my Americano.
"I'm going to ask you something, Arasso? And you have to promise you'll do it."
I raised an eyebrow. "What if you ask me to rob a bank though?"
Jong Kook sighed. "Why would I ask you to do that?"
"Okay good point." I crossed my arms and leaned back in my chair. "What is it?"
"Arasso here it goes." Jong Kook took a deep breath. "We've been friends for so long HaHa. Even if I was a huge jerk most of the time you still stood by me. So I'm going to ask you... Will you be my best man at my wedding?"
My eyes widened. "Are... Are you serious?"
Jong Kook nodded, smiling. "Yes!"
I stood up and hugged him tightly. "Yes! Yes of course! Saranghaeyo Jong Kook!"
Jong Kook laughed and hugged me back. "I love you too!"
I can't believe it! This is probably the best day ever!
Later
-Yoo Jae Suk-
"Hurry up in there will you!" I knocked on the dressing room doors."
"Yah how can you talk to them like that when their wedding is six days away?" Kwang Soo asked in a grumpy tone.
Suk Jin laughed. "Kwang Soo you sound like you want to kill somebody."
"It's just not fair! How is it that all of you are getting married, but I'm still like the Maknae." Kwang Soo sounded like he was going to cry. "Aish I miss Joongki. It wouldn't be so bad if he was here."
"Hey, I'm not married either." HaHa assured. "It's okay we can be a couple together. And Joongki is gone, okay? He's never coming back."
"The Hwang Soo couple!" Jae Suk laughed.
"What?" HaHa asked.
"That's your couple name." Suk Jin answered. "Or how about the lonely couple?"
"ANDWAE I like the Hwang Soo couple better." I smiled.
HaHa threw a pillow at me. "Be quiet will you!"
"GUYS QUIET!" Jong Kook shouted from his fitting room.
Gary also said loudly, "YOU GUYS ARE TOO LOUD! CHEBAL BE QUIET!"
I looked the others in shock. "Yah! Nobody would show up at your wedding if we weren't here!"
"Wow! You do know you're not the only ones coming, right?" Jong Kook said loudly. "Don't think you're special or anything!"
"We know, we know!" Suk Jin said. "So... Are any of you planning on going to Running Man University?"
"Are you crazy?" HaHa scoffed. "I'm done with school. Literally. Now that I'm a graduate I'm going to try bringing my singing career to another level. I also want to try acting. Jae Suk, you think you can get be into a variety department? I think that I'd do better in the humor category than serious."
"Actually SBS is going to start a new variety show called Running Man. Haha Ironic isn't it? Running Man? Running Man High? I think they got the name from the Highschool we went to. But I've been casted for the MC and they're searching for new applicants. You should apply." I told them. "Chankaman, Ji Hyo actually came up with that name when Suk Jin was auditioning for MC position. DAEBAK. That girl is amazing."
"That girl is going to be my wife soon so back off!" Kang Gary warned.
"Ayyy." I said. "I'm already a married man now. And I love my wife! You guys wish you had a women as beautiful as mine!"
At that moment, Jong Kook and Gary both walked out of the fitting room. Gary and Jong Kook were both wearing a white suit with a lilac colored tie.
"Wow, you two look handsome." HaHa commented.
"Really?" Jong Kook looked at himself in the mirror and fixed his hair. "To be honest I wanted the wedding colors to be blue and white, but Ji Hyo and Eun Hye tought otherwise."
"Nah, you don't look good in blue." I teased. "And I think you might need a bigger size. I can see your muscles through the--"
Jong Kook grabbed the collar of my shirt and lifted me off the ground. "What did you say?"
I forgot how strong he was!! "I said you look very handsome!"
Jong kook smiled and put me back on the ground. "Thank you."
The others in the room were frozen with fear in their spots and so was Gary.
"I wonder what our to be wives will look like." Jong Kook told Gary.
"I'm actually kind of nervous." Gary muttered. "What if things don't end well between Ji Hyo and I in the future?"
"Yah, don't say that." HaHa said. "You two are perfect for each other."
"You really think so?"
HaHa nodded. "I know so! And you should too! You can't have any doubts now that you're wedding is in six days!"
"Yeah, it's too late to back out now." Kwang Soo added.
Gary looked at himself in the mirror. "I'm not backing out. I know that Ji Hyo and I are perfect for each other."
"You guys are meant to belong together." I watched Jong Kook as he put his hand on Gary's shoulder. "There were some ups and downs in the past, but look. You guys are still together in the end. And that's how it's always going to be. Look at Eun Hye and I. I didn't even want to marry her! But then I realized that it wasn't Eun Hye's fault that she was the way she acted. It was mine. I was a jerk, and Eun Hye spended so much time with me that my jerkiness rubbed off onto her. She never used to be that coldhearted. But people change, and that's what you have to think about. Everything that happened in the high school is in the past. We all grew up, and we're all different people now. Some people will leave us and some people will decide to stay with us forever. No matter what happens between you and Ji Hyo in the future you have to remember that you two were always there for each other even through the hardest hardships. You have to remember that you've loved her from the beginning and you always will."
Gary looked at Jong Kook and they both hugged each other tightly.
Jong Kook smiled and patted Gary's back. "It's going to be okay. You're not going to regret a thing Gary."
"Wow." HaHa said and I looked at him.
"HaHa, are you crying?" I asked.
HaHa nodded. "Yes. That was the most beautiful and motivational thing I've heard from Jong Kookie."
"Yah, don't call me Kookie." Jong Kook warned.
-Song Joongki-
I just finished listening to Ji Hyo's voice message and sighed. I wish she'd understand. But maybe I'm being a bit rude too. I missed her graduation, and I'm also missing her big day. Even if I do go back it's not like she's going to want to see me. I would want to punch me in the face if I were her.
I sighed and looked at my schedule. I was supposed to meet with a big producer in six days, which was the same day Ji Hyo's wedding was scheduled. This could really help my acting career in America.
I've learned English and it sounds pretty fluent, I'm a great actor, and the fans love me because they say I'm attractive. I sighed again and looked around the studio. I saw one of my managers, Tyler.
"Excuse me manager." I said in English and he walked towards me.
"Yes, what is it Joongki?" He asked.
"Do you think my appointment with Daniel could be rescheduled? My best friends wedding is on the same say, and I can't miss it for anything."
"Does that mean you're going to go back to Korea?" Tyler asked.
I nodded. "Just for a few days... If that's okay with you."
Tyler paused then said. "Okay. But just remember that you won't be able to get anymore vacation days. Okay?"
I nodded and hugged him. "Thank you! My friend will be so happy to see me! Thank you!"
Tyler slowly pushed me away from him. "Okay... Your welcome. Have fun." He looked awkward and walked away.
"Thank you!" I said again.
I smiled. Ji Hyo, here I come.
-Song Ji Hyo-
Day of wedding
I took a deep breath. "Guys, I'm dying." I said. "What if I trip on my heels?"
Ailee smiled. "That's not going to happen."
"You're going to be fine!" Eun Hye assured.
"I don't understand how you can be so calm about everything!" I said. "My fingers are trembling so much!"
"Guys, it's time! The music is playing!" Lizzy said quickly.
I glanced at Eun Hye who gave me a slight nod and we both started walking together. The doors into the wedding hall slowly opened and Lizzy and Ailee walked in front of us first. Then Eun Hye and I slowly followed behind them. I slowly glanced up and saw Gary looking at me with a wide smile on his face.
He looked so handsome... And he's going to be my husband.
Eun Hye and I reached where Jong Kook and Gary were. I stood in front of Gary and Eun Hye stood in front of Jong Kook. I quickly scanned the crowd, and noticed many familiar faces. There was Kim Woo Bin, Seungri, Daeseung, Suzy, Gu Hye Sun, and even...
"Chanyeol!" I suddenly said. Oh my god!
Everyone looked at me, and it went quiet.
I looked at the ground. "Mianhe."
The wedding rituals continued. I mentally slapped myself. Pabo! You stupid fool!
I realized one thing though. Joongki never showed up.
"Ji Hyo." Gary whispered.
I looked up at him. He winked and I felt myself blush. Dang you Gary!
"Kim Jong Kook, do you promise to love and care for Eun Hye until the end of times?"
"I do." Jong Kook answered.
"And Yoon Eun Hye..."
Oh my god! It's about to happen!
"Kang Gary, do you promise to love and care for Song Ji Hyo until the end of times?"
"I do." Gary smiled.
" And Song Ji Hyo. Do you also promise to love and care for Kang Gary until the end of times?"
I looked up at Gary. What am I thinking? I belong with this person even if he can be a fool sometimes. I nodded. "I do."
"You may now kiss your brides!"
Gary and I kissed and so did Jong Kook and Eun Hye. Everybody clapped. I smiled and threw my wedding bouquet.
"HaHa!" I smiled when he caught it.
"Ha! Suckers!" HaHa told all the girls who drowned when Kwang Soo got Eun Hye's.
It was now time to party! I looked around then saw somebody that I couldn't believe I missed. Joongki, my best friend, was sitting by himself in the last row.
"Gary." I looked at Gary who also noticed Joongki. He nodded.
I fast-walked towards Joongki and he stood up when he saw me coming towards him. I hugged him as tight as I possibly could.
"Pabo! What's wrong with you?!" I cried.
Joongki laughed. "Miss me!"
"Of course I miss you! I really hate you though you know!" I said, still hugging him.
"I know and I'm so sorry. Sorry for everything." Joongki said.
"Ji Hyo!"
I turned around and saw my mom. I let go of Joongki and hugged her. "Mom!"
"'My little girl is all grown up!" She was crying.
I wiped away her tears, and felt myself starting to cry too. "Mom, don't make me cry on my wedding day. And look who's back."
My mom nodded and looked at Joongki. "Yes, I see. About time you came back. How dare you leave my daughter alone like that! Do you know how heartbroken she was!"
Joongki frowned. "I know and I strongly apologize. I'll never do that again."
"You're forgiven Joongki." I said and noticed Kwang Soo watching Joongki. "I think there's someone else more excited to meet you though."
Joongki also noticed Kwang Soo and grinned. "Be right back."
I watched as he ran towards Kwang Soo then I saw Gary standing by himself.
"'Mom...I'm going to go to Gary, okay?" I said.
She nodded. "Arasso. Go."
I smiled and ran towards him. I hugged him tightly and kissed him again.
"This is the best day of my life oppa." I smiled.
Gary laughed and also kissed me.
"Yah get a room will you!" HaHa shouted.
"I love you so much!" I said. "You honestly have no idea how happy i am right now Gary."
"Me too." Gary smiled. "My whole life is complete now that you're with new. I'll never leave your side no matter what happens, arasso?"
"Neither will i." I said with a smile.
We walked over to Jong Kook and Eun Hye who were talking to Chanyeol.
"Sorry for shouting your name earlier." I apologized. "I feel so embarrassed."
Chanyeol laughed. "Don't be! You actually made my day when you did that. I'm going to go chill with Seungri. Come dance with me later!"
"Don't forget she's my wife now!" Gary said.
"Arasso, Arasso!" Chanyeol smiled and walked away.
Now it was just Gary, Jong Kook, Eun Hye and I. The four who hated one another now
Became best friends and are married to the loves of their lives.
I looked at Jong Kook who smiled. We went through a lot together, but even so we still remained best friends. I looked at Eun Hye and thought about how much I hated her in the beginning. Now she's one of the closest people I can rely on.
Then I liked over to Gary and hugged him. Who would've known that this day would come? Kang Gary will always be mine. Always.
Running Man High. It's not a death wish. It's a dream come true.
