C R I M I N A L XIII. Playground

"Aim, for the ssoft partsss, (Name). The eyess, or sstomach."

Your fists clenched, your teeth gritted together and your eyes were tightly shut.

Shut up shut up shut up shut up!

That chaotic essence within you seemed to be more lively ever since your fight with the Silver Lobo. They wouldn't stay quiet.

You woke to the heavy smell of antiseptic, cleanliness, potions and other medicines. The general hospital scent that you loathed, all because it brought back those dreadful memories...

Your eyes groggily caught sight of a pair of low hanging curly red pigtails.

The girl hummed quietly to herself as she made work with some sort of concoction on the counter, not aware that you had awoken.

That was dangerous. She left herself out in the open and so defenceless.

You sighed through your nose and sat up with a lot of effort, pain rocketing through your side and shoulder and other various places on your body.

"Ah, thank goodness you're awake! I thought it would be at least a few more days that you would be out." She chimed, turning to glance at you. "How are you feeling?"

"Like shit." You put it bluntly, causing the girl's smile to fall slightly immediately showing you she didn't take too kindly to foul language. Obviously you weren't going to let on about the previous battle that had occurred inside your head while you had been unconscious. Not that this seemingly sweet girl would believe it, and would probably freak and call security.

"My name's Vanille. I've been assigned to care for you and make sure you were well enough to go back to your cell once you woke up. Nice to meet you!" She grinned.

This girl was way too kind and happy to be working in a prison. Especially the one you were currently in.

"(Y/n). And I feel fine, I can leave."

"Ah ah ah! I'm not finished redressing your wounds. Give me a sec." You sighed and allowed the sweet girl to undo your bandages and clean the fresh scabs and clotted blood.

"Um, if you don't mind me asking you, do you by any chance share a cell with a woman named Fang?" Vanille asked timidly, shifting back and forth on her feet once she had finished.

"Yeah, how'd you know?" You questioned.

"Your number is 472. The Moogle told me your details. Your cell should be 47 in Wing A, and Fang should be in that same cell." You glanced at the moogle hovering around the shelves and cupboards sorting things in place and taking out of date items away. Did they use the moogles for storing information on the inmates? If so, that information was very valuable to you, something that Vanille shouldn't have let you in on.  However threatening moogles to give you info didn't seem like something you would take much pleasure in.

"Why?" You asked, curious as to why she was asking after Fang. She stiffened, wandering whether or not to reply.

"Um, n-no reason." Vanille stuttered.

"You're worried about her, aren't you?" You figured it out for yourself. Her eyes widened at your remark. You offered her a small smile. "She's doing fine. No need to worry."

She sighed slightly in relief, and turned to finish making a potion on the worktop.

"...what happened? Did you see what happened when I blacked out?" You managed to ask, head still pounding from your previous fight. Your gaze rose up to stare at Vanille's back.

She didn't turn from her work at the counter as she replied,

"Well I wasn't there to see the fight, but I turned up just in time to see the normal huge crowd there cheering. It seems you've made a name for yourself." Vanille stopped in what she was doing and turned to look at you. "Why did you choose to fight anyway? When you were rushed in here you had lost so much blood. You looked on the brink of death!" She lightly scolded.

You suppressed the urge to snort at the last part. You highly doubted that.

They would never let you die. Even if you wanted to.

"Well thankfully you won against that Silver Lobo, I have no idea how exactly but you did. Luckily Reno managed to pull you out of the pit before you bled to death. You should thank him, I mean, he did carry you all the way here. I know its not a nice thought but any other guard would probably have let you die."

Your brow furrowed.

Reno had been the one to pull you out? That was unexpected. Were you supposed to find and thank him now?

Amidst your thoughtfulness you failed to notice the new presence at the door.

Seifer let himself in without a single knock for ask for permission and crouched down in front of your knees, meeting you at eye level. You lent back with a deep frown on your face with guarded eyes and a raised brow.

You also noted how Vanille looked a little nervous due to his abrupt appearance and unwanted entrance.

"What are you doing?" You hissed, clearly uncomfortable with the way he was eyeing you like a piece of meat.

"U-um Seifer, this is a private room for wounded and sick people only. If you would please leave for now..." She trailed off, not wanted to get on his bad side, her timidness making an appearance.

He sent her a mischievous grin and said,

"Oh relax miss Nurse. She and I are friends. Isn't that right, (Y/n)?"

You glowered at him.

"Friends? I think you need to look up the definition of that word. And how do you know my name?" You accused, getting a little ticked off with Seifer's behaviour.

"I think it would be in your best interest to go along and comply with me (Y/n)." He provoked quietly. "After all, you wouldn't want me to spill anything that has happened recently, would you?"

Evil. Manipulative. Twat.

Your glare couldn't be more deathly at this point and even Seifer could feel that he was treading on egg shells. But what could you possibly do to him? He held highly secret information that you would do anything to keep secret.

"What do you want." You hissed pushing him back. He grinned.

"That's more like it, (Name)." The blonde paused and looked up at Vanille who had remained quiet and had been pressing herself father into the corner. She was scared of him. Was she scared of all the inmates here?

Reading the look on Seifer's face a look of panic crossed her features.

"I-I can't allow you to stay in here alone with m-my patient! It's against the rules." She stammered.

"Listen here Missy, I need to speak with little (Y/n) alone. Leave-"

"Its ok, Vanille. I'll be fine. You've done a good job fixing me up." You butted in, offering her a weak but grateful smile.

She seemed apprehensive not moving for a second before nodding her head slowly and stepping out of the infirmary cautiously, side stepping Seifer like he was an animal ready to pounce.

Seifer turned back to you with a conniving smile. "So I saw your fight, and I would like to say it was impressive." He confessed. You rose a brow at him.

"That wasn't by choice." You mumbled angrily watching him closely with caution. You could only hope he wouldn't bring up the incident that happened with Yuj. If anyone else caught onto that, especially someone with power in the prison, you would be in real shit.

"Join my gang."

...

What?

"Join your gang?" You repeated slowly.

"Ah, you haven't been told, hm?"

You shot him a pointed look which he returned with a pointed smirk.

"If you want to survive your time here, or even have a semi pleasant one, you need to join a gang. For protection mainly, and connections."

"And you obviously have an ulterior motive for having me join." You said.

"(Y/n), (Y/n), (Y/n)," He sang bringing his large hands to your knees and leaning forward on them, your frame tensing having a strong urge to send your clenched fist into his cocky face. "I am a kind, trustworthy, generous man, and I see so much potential in you." His thumb running circles just above your knee.

Your upper lip curled in disgust at his action. If he went any further, you were thinking of ways to break both of his hands.

"Yeah, delightful." You sneered.

"Think about it, you'd have protection and all the other pros of being in my gang, no one will come near you. Plus you would be a good asset to my team." He explained leaning back out of your personal space finally.

"Seriously, what do you want from me?"

"I'll tell you once you join. I'll give you a night to think about it." He stood to his full height and took his leave but not before pausing. "I hope for a good answer tomorrow, (Y/n)."

"Nice work rookie." You heard Fang's distinct strong voice. "If you were trying to get yourself killed." Once you arrived back at your cell after Vanille finalised your examination and bid you ok to leave, you looked up to see the fierce brunette leaning against the entryway to the cell with a scowl on her tanned face. For a moment there you thought she was actually complimenting you, until she added on that last part. A ghost of a smile lifted your lips for a moment, amused with Fang's attitude until it disappeared again.

"Well, I myself am not trying to get killed, but one certain blonde girl wants me dead it would seem." You said with a sigh, as if it was a regular occurrence.

Fang walked in and sat down against your bed frame, an action that slightly surprised you, as if she was saying that she was finally comfortable with your presence.

"That girl, Lumina..." She started.

"You know her?" You quizzed folding your arms behind your head and lying back.

"I guess you could say that. She would be yet another one I would advise you to keep clear of but as you know, I guess I was a little too late to warn you about her." A small smirk wormed its way onto Fang's lips. She then frowned.

"There's something about her though. I have no idea which Wing she's meant to be in, I know next to nothing about her, only that her name's Lumina and she was here before I arrived. Even Axel, the asshole info collector himself doesn't know too much about her."

"You went to Axel for info on her?" You scoffed. "You said you hated him."

"I do!" She scowled back at you, something burning in her eyes at the mention of the name. "But there was an incident with Lumina and I had to get back at her. But no one I asked seemed to know anything about her!"

Lumina seemed to know something that Axel possibly did not, and that thought tugged and tugged at your brain like a wild dog on a leash.

"Oh my~ So you haven't heard of the special containment level I take it? Wow, you really are so ignorant of this place!"

What was the 'Special Containment Level?' Or perhaps she was merely playing with you, she seemed like the type to mess with anyone and everyone in this shithole.

Yes yes, there has been a lot of Seifer action recently. DO NOT WORRY YOURSELVES! Your BOC will each have their dedicated chapters, please just be patient with me -Rikki
