C R I M I N A L IV. Prison Bitch
IV
As you entered the cell, you shivered. It was cold and there was no insulation in the cell whatsoever.
It seemed that your cell mate had taken the bottom buck, so to play it safe you threw your bag on the top bed. Your prison jumpsuit (picture up top) was in that rucksack but for the time being you didn't feel like changing into it.
You had no idea what to do to pass the time. Sit here until your cell mate came back? Look around perhaps? What would you do if she came back though? 'Oh hey! My names (Name) and we're gonna be best buddies for 10 maybe more years!' That seemed like a great plan. The latter seemed like the better plan, however before you went anywhere, something on the wall caught your eye.
Beautiful celtic styled pictures of monsters and plants had been etched into the cold stone wall. Without thinking, you ran your hand along the rough lines, gently tracing out the pictures, it was almost like they were telling a story.
You pulled away from the wall and exited the cell, and turned the first coner to the left of the hallway, only to bump roughly into someone.
This 'someone' turned out to be a brown haired female, in the original prison orange jumpsuit. She looked back at you with an unimpressed expression and a raised brow.
"You should watch where you're going yeah? You're lucky it was me you bumped into newbie. Anyone else and you probably would have ended up in a crap situation." She warned in a thick austrailian accent.
"So? Who are you? Judging by the fact that you haven't changed into your prison clothing I'm guessing you're new here." She said. "Word of advice too, I would change soon unless you want to draw attention to yourself. One of the worst things here is the attention." She finished brushing past you like you were no more than a mere fly.
You mentally sighed.
"Wait!"
The brunette halted in her tracks and looked over her shoulder at you, waiting for you to continue.
"By any chance, are you in cell 47?" You questioned her. Her eyes narrowed at you, suspiciously.
"An' how the hell do you know that?" She asked turning around to face you fully with a hand on her hip. So this was the 'Fang' girl Reno had told you about?
Dude, chill out. You thought. She looked about ready to fight you.
"We're in the same cell." You replied blankly. A second of silence passed before she groaned in frustration.
"You serious? I was hoping that I'd have that cell to myself for the next five years! Now I've got to look after some rookie! Could my day get any better?" Fang growled.
If only you knew what I was capable you thought, unamused.
Once Fang had collected herself together, she strode over to you and stuck out her hand.
"The name's Fang. If you cause any trouble for me I swear I'll make you wish you hadn't. Who knows, we might get along. A quick word of warning though," She said as she grabbed your hand and shook it in a firm grip. "You do not want to make an enemy out of me." She added in a lower tone.
"...(Name)." You introduced yourself simply, shaking her hand back.
"Well, since it's our lunch time I may as well take you with me, show you the ropes. But that doesn't mean in any way you can cling to me for the rest of your time here, however...you don't seem like the type too." Fang muttered the last part.
"I don't plan too." You confirmed.
"Good. Now get ya ass in gear and lets go, but first you'll want to change into your prison clothing."
Once you had donned the ugly orange jumpsuit, Fang took you to the mess hall to grab lunch that looked like shit and tasted like it. You sat with her at a vacant table, far enough away from anyone else. Thats when Fang started to fill you in on the other prisoners.
"See that guy over there?" She motioned with her eyes. You stole a glance in the direction she looked at and nodded.
"That's Seifer Almasy. He's in for blowing up a PSICOM station on Cocoon, murder and I think rape too. Not sure how many he's killed though. The other two are Rai and Fuu. Keep away from them as well, they're in league with Seifer." Fang explained. You looked back over at the three to see something you didn't want too.
Seifer was staring at you.
Shit. Why the hell is he looking at me?
You quickly averted your gaze to make it seem like your eyes had simply passed over him. Your eyes then landed on another blonde, who was at a table with two other males.
Fang followed your gaze and sighed.
"That's Snow. He used to be the kind of guy who would be 'the hero'. Last thing I ever expected was to see him end up here."
"You seem to know him well." You commented taking a bite of your 'oh so delicious slop.'
Fang frowned and started to poke and prod at her food.
"I thought I did... Not anymore though. It's like he's an entirely different person now. He's so shut off from people now, also used to be an idiot." She smirked at the memories. "I wouldn't worry about him too much, although he's capable of taking down a behemoth on his own, Snow's not the type to hurt people without reason."
"Thought you said you didn't know him anymore." You countered with a raised brow.
"True. But I know that for a fact. Feel free to prove me wrong." She gestured towards Snow.
"And the other two?" You asked, ignoring her gesture.
"Cloud and Noel. Can't say I know much about them though." Fang sighed pushing her finished meal away from her.
"Next is the silvernette trio. They're cocky and manipulative bastards." She spat, making you turn to meet a pair of cat like eyes.
That guy again.
It was the same one with the below shoulder length hair that you had seen earlier. Of course he would recognise you and meet your glance!
"There's Kadaj, with the shoulder length hair, Loz with the shortest hair and the other is Yazoo." She informed you.
"And what're they in for?"
Fang gave you a look that told you that you did not want to know, so you didn't pry any further.
"Anyway, you get the jist of it all, otherwise if you ignore everything I've just told you then you'll end up like lil Cater over there." She said, pointing at a girl with short, flared auburn hair and steel-blue eyes. She sat alone with a watchful eye, fidgeting every few moments, like she was scared of something.
"Trust me when I say this." Fang started looking you dead in the eye with a serious expression. "Females here have it harder. We're constantly victimised by the men and I don't need to tell you why. If you don't keep as low profile as you possibly can, you'll end up their prison bitch, just like Cater and a few others I know." Fang explained.
It didn't surprise you much, but it did make you much more cautious. You also couldn't help but feel a slight pity for the girl in the corner. In fact you were curious as to why she was even here. In no why did she seem like a convict or someone who would break the law, but looks could be deceiving. You knew that all too well.
Fang stood from her seat took her tray and unceremoniously chucked it into the tray bin on her way out. She stopped when she noticed you weren't following and turned.
"You coming or you just gonna sit there all day eh?"
At that you mimicked her actions and followed her.
However once you threw away your tray, one of the silvenettes from earlier, beckoned you over with his index finger. Not wanting to make the effort to walk over, you flipped him the bird and walked off after Fang, not realising the grave mistake you made.
"I thought you didn't want me tagging along." You mused walking alongside the brunette. She rolled her eyes.
"Don't make me change my mind. I'm just gonna show you around a little so you don't need me to take you everywhere you go." Fang said.
You had an inkling of a feeling that that wasn't the case. In fact you thought that she had a soft spot somewhere.
I love writing Fang/Vanille scenes! As I play the scene I've written in my head I imagine their accents and I just adore it! I love the Australian accent! Oh and I haven't checked my writing in this chapter so please tell me if there are any mishaps or mistakes that don't seem right -Rikki
