Lay All Your Love On Me

A/N: remember like late 2017 when song fics were popular? well right now I'm writing this on an impulse because I was listening to the Mama Mia soundtrack and inspiration struck. Let's uh... see where this thing goes ;)

I wasn't jealous before we met, now every man that I see is a potential threat

Lucas Sinclair liked to think of himself as a simple man. He gave what needed to be given, and when the situation allowed, he took as well. Simple.
Currently, that remained the only thing consuming his racing thoughts. To take what was his.

He sat in Mike's basement, his hands slowly coiling into tight fists at his side. Max and him had long broken up. They mutually decided that they missed being friends, without all the pressure that comes with actually being in a relationship. He had in fact loved her, in his own way, and he still does. He knows she does too. She'd said it to him mockingly before planting a quick kiss on his cheek that day. They still confided in one another, and he helped her get an edge on El, feeling he knew her quite well. Lucas was happy to watch them grow closer and believe he was a part of it.

But now there was a problem. Now his heart ached for another person. And that person was sitting next to Mike, giggling at his stupid jokes.

And I'm possessive, it isn't nice
You've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice

Lucas didn't think to care why all of a sudden it angered him so much to see his two friends talking. They always talked. They're friends for God's sake. And he doesn't own Will. He shouldn't decide who he talks and doesn't talk to. But that doesn't stop his heart from clenching each time he'd lean closer to Mike, or rest his hand on his arm.

But now it isn't true
Now everything is new
And all I've learned, has overturned
I beg of you

It all seemed a bit wrong. He felt his hands slowly unravel. Was he jealous... of Mike? Of all people to be jealous of, he felt this pitiful rage towards Mike Wheeler, the biggest dork he knew. But the more he thought it over, he realized that he was.

Lucas was jealous of Mike.
Jealous that he was so close to Will.
Jealous that Will was so effortlessly comfortable around him.

Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me

He wanted Will to do that to him. He couldn't help having a soft spot for the beautiful brown haired boy with the twinkly hazel eyes. He'd always felt somehow drawn to him, even when they were kids. But of course he didn't understand why at the time he'd feel butterflies in his stomach whenever Will would dedicate a drawing to him, or smile his adorable toothy smile at something he did.

Lucas sighed.
He was probably just overreacting.
Besides, it's not like he ever had a chance with Will anyway.

He got up to grab a Coke and get his mind off of it.
****

It was like shooting a sitting duck
A little small talk, a smile and baby I was stuck

Mike cut their conversation short when El excitedly beckoned him over with the biggest grin Will had ever seen.
Mike apologized, but Will merely brushed it off, completely understanding how hard it was to resist whenever El was enthusiastic about something.

He looked back to where he remembered seeing Lucas last, and noticed his seat was now empty.
Strange.

He'd noticed how Lucas had been awfully quiet that Saturday afternoon. He didn't know him to be quiet. He wasn't nicknamed "Lucas-smooth-talking-Sinclair" for nothing. Will could listen to him talk his way out of anything all day. Even when he'd falter, he always found some way to pick up the pieces. Or effortlessly start up a new conversation with just about anybody and have them laughing in a matter of seconds. Will admired that about him.

I still don't know what you've done to me, a grown up woman should never fall so easily

Will's thoughts drifted to where Lucas could have gone. What he could be thinking.

His breakup with Max was recent, but it wasn't messy. So Will didn't know whether there was even a wound to be mended. Nevertheless, he tried his best not to bring it up in conversation.

He remembered the day Lucas and Max announced their joint decision to the rest of their friends. Will had felt a sense of relief wash over him. Still, he couldn't decipher why.

Relief that he wouldn't have to deal with girlfriend drama from all three of his friends? Or was it relief that he wouldn't have to sit and hear Lucas talk about Max and how great she is. Because to be completely honest, it annoyed him.

It's not that he hated Max, but hearing Lucas speak so highly of her always dampened his mood.
What about him?

I feel a kind of fear
When I don't have you near

Will straightened up a bit.
How long had he been thinking about this?
How long had Lucas been gone?

He took a deep breath.
He was alone.

He hadn't noticed it before but Mike had gone off with an ecstatic El and Dustin and now he was left to his own thoughts.

Unsatisfied, I skip my pride
I beg you dear

Will quickly rose from his seat and began to look for Lucas.

Just as he went to go upstairs, Lucas came down, Coke in hand. He was on his second can, but Will didn't need to know that.

"Lucas," Will breathed, slightly out of breath from his sudden appearance

"That's my name." Lucas replied with a smile and walked by Will further into the basement, grabbing an old comic he'd probably read a few times and sitting down.

Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me

Lucas wasn't an idiot. He knew Will was looking for him. He knew they were finally alone. So he tested the waters. As he went down those stairs he accidentally (intentionally) brushed his hand against Will's. He instantly heard his reaction. Will's quick yet sharp inhale, so soft he almost didn't catch it, and Lucas guessed his cheeks were that rosy color he loved.

Don't go sharing your devotion
Lay all your love on me

Will watched as Lucas sat down, smirking. He couldn't believe he'd just done that.

But two could play at that game.

Will let go of the breath he didn't even know he was holding and walked over to Lucas, plopping down next to him, making sure to sit so close their thighs and hands were touching, and acted as though there was nothing wrong.

He felt Lucas slightly stiffen and smiled to himself, before leaning closer to him.
"Whatcha reading?"

I've had a few little love affairs
They didn't last very long and they've been pretty scarce

Lucas wasn't used to being manipulated back. But he liked this side of Will. So he played along.
"X-Men. It's an old issue, but nothing's wrong with a little nostalgia, right?"

I used to think I was sensible
It makes the truth even more incomprehensible

"Right..." Will replied, not even paying the comic any attention. He instead focused on studying every inch of Lucas' face. He liked being this close to him. He smelled nice. And was soft, even though they were barely in contact of one another. Will wondered how soft his hands were if one were to fully hold them. Or how soft his cheeks were... they looked so smooth. And his lips...

'Cause everything is new
And everything is you
And all I've learned, has overturned
What can I do?

Lucas caught Will trailing off and turned to him, catching Will's eyes quickly pull away from his lips. He pretended to not see it and instead asked,"Well, wanna take a trip down memory lane with me?"

Will blinked,"uh.. sure"

Lucas turned back and grinned. He opened the page, and began to read its contents as Will's eyes flickered across the art on the page. He felt Will rest his head on his shoulder and he paused for a moment. He looked at Will who simply looked right back with a do-no-wrong expression that made Lucas want to forget everything and kiss him right then and there.

But he just smiled down at him and turned back to the comic.

Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me

Will frowned when Lucas turned away. He knew for a fact Lucas had just eyed his lips. He knew Lucas wanted to kiss him as much as he wanted him to. But he was being all passive about it. Why? If you feel something just go for it, right?

Right.

Will grew tired of the comic that he'd already memorized the plot of, and Lucas was shocked to be interrupted by Will's small hand abruptly closing it.

Will kneeled on the couch and sat on his feet, facing Lucas.

"Yes?" Lucas asked, confused.

Will tilted his head and simply admired the boy, soaking up every beautifully crafted feature that made Lucas Sinclair. It seemed too good to be true.

But Will needed to know.

"Do you still have feelings for Max."

Lucas stared back at him. He wasn't expecting that. "What?"

"Do you still like her?" Will repeated.

"I-
N-no. No. I don't. She's just a friend."

Will felt satisfied with that answer.

"Good." He simply stated before grabbing a fistful of Lucas' shirt and yanking him closer.

Lucas felt his heart pound at a speed that didn't seem humanly possible. Will just kissed him. Out of nowhere. And... he liked it.

Don't go wasting your devotion

He pulled back, to Will's dismay. His theories were correct. Lucas' lips were soft and plump and intoxicatingly delicious. He wanted more. He bit his lip and felt his cheeks burn red at the thought.

Lucas merely smirked in response and pushed Will down on the sofa before rejoining their lips once more. Their legs became tangled together, but they didn't care.

A door may have been opened (ignored by the two currently devouring one another) then quickly closed at the sight in front of them.

Not much happened other than many many hot, desperate kisses being swapped, but the two couldn't be happier.

Lay all your love on me
