Chapter III: Treasure

Every relationship was a disaster.

It was out of control. Of all the meaningless relationships I had, the unruly thoughts of how to love and the idea that I needed to give back, Leo wasn't the one to tell me, he made me feel things I never felt before.

Ever since dad taught me endlessly to be rough with life, as per his famous words 'When life gets hard, strangle it harder.' — it made me angrier as a person, more volatile and was never a loving creature. Even Leo had to struggle to get an emotion out of me.

The handsome guy in front of me explained our new, well-made plan for the next adventure: the Baris Treasure, and the ones who knew about it was Jaden's clan. Dad had it mapped out for us, his willingness to find everything that had a relation to the treasure was admirable, he worked with all of his soul to catch the clan that hid the treasure. The Baris family were hidden in Brazil, and I needed a vacation from the disgusting school dad made us go to.

Leo's eyes looked at me expectedly. "Well?"

"Well what?"

He groaned as he laid back on the restaurant's chair.

"Our flight is at six in the morning and we would be off for a week to find information on the treasure. Your dad is coming later on with a group of shooters to bust out the Baris legends in Brazil." He clarified as his eyes calculated mine to see if I understood.

"I already know about this. Dad repeated it a hundred times." I carelessly murmered before I dug my teeth on the delicious smoked steak burger. The fiery paprika made my tongue dance as I closed my eyes and opened them after I swallowed it down with my fruity punch.

Leo aggressively took two of his curly fries and shoved them into his mouth as we carried on with dinner.

"Five more minutes." I mumbled into my silk pillow, but my happiness was short lived as Leo held both of my legs and slid me down the bed like a quilt.

"I got your bag ready, Athens, let's go or we'll miss your flight," he lifted me by my armpits as he added, "and you'll miss your chance to kick some adult asses."

He got me awake as I flew to the bathroom, Leo's booming laughter was heard as soon as I closed my bathroom door to get myself up and ready.

I hated when he was right. The junkie adrenaline was the only thing that could get me hyped. Purely flesh and bones decorated with blood. A lustful drawing in my mind made me grin in front of my mirror.

My mind wandered off to the Baris legends, they were hard to crack because of their fancy security and their manipulative structure. Dad once had a fight with them and they were not on good terms, but that made dad stronger because he knew their strategies. They had been waiting for a couple of months to retaliate and that made it even more exciting.

After I strapped on my silver belt that had my initials in the middle and my black boots, I checked myself in front of my mirror, I had a bit of black bags under my eyes but nothing a concealer couldn't fix and my hair was neat in a ponytail. I was ready to go.

Leo whistled as soon as I got out and I gave him a runway show as I strutted in my sparkly black crop top and my leather pants. He was looking good himself with leather jacket and black denim jeans with his Calvins on.

"You stun me every time, beleza." His breaths on my neck as he held me by my waist.

"Practicing on your Spanish already?" I taunted but shut up as soon as his lips feathered mine.

"Only for you, esplêndido." He whispered, and that turned me on as we deepened the kiss.

A knock on my door made us seperate, it was my mom and she wanted to check what I wore as usual, she came in with a red overall and sophisticated black heels with her usual sleek bun. My mom made anything look stunning.

I wished she could say the same to me.

"What are you wearing? We aren't going to a cemetery," she gave an offended once-over as she commented, "it's Brazil, for god's sake."

I placed my hands on my hips, "mom, it's only for the private jet."

"Couldn't you wear something more comfortable for our plane?"

"No mom, let's get going."

Leo and I held hands as we got in our car with mom and dad in front of us. Zander checked in on everything and we were off to go.

Dad placed a comforting hand on my knee to assure me, he could tell the cogs in my head moved at a faster rate and I hugged his hand with mine.

"Athens, we have the upper hand, don't let them scare you."

"I was never scared of them, but they might change their strategy since they got aware of us coming to them." I voiced my worry and he chuckled.

"I know them for more than ten years. They always stuck to the same strategy, but the most important thing is to check our surroundings because they place tiny triangles security cameras around us to record and spy. I already set agents before us to check our residence areas for any threat."

"That, and we have a meeting with the Oliveira family at their palace for more information." Leo finished off, and dad looked proudly over to him and he nodded his head to my dad. They were a great team together.

We finally arrived to our private plane, Zander and I did our handshake and the usual 'go get 'em tiger' before we settled in the plane that had arrays of comfortable plush seats and a wide space that had tables filled with assortments of food: croissants, salads, sandwiches and cakes. Dad liked his stomach as he grabbed a plate.

Our journey was only the beginning as my eyes gazed at the puffy clouds.
