II

Since Thonro joined me I have grown stronger. Her brood increased and with that many of my worshipers and with that, my strength had grown. I am soon to become a god, but I do not care about that. Despite our whole species striving for that, I strive for this simple and relaxing life. To serve the forest and my followers had been given instructions. They are not to hurt any animal, any creature that belongs to this forest, they are to constantly scout out the area to check if there will be any danger. Any unwanted visitors that need to be chased away. We decorate ourselves with flowers and plants, our temples and building are made to integrate into the nature around us, not defy it. Her brood does not grow from needles killing, it grows from me, I grant them strength. They kill the invaders, the ones that threaten the peace of this abode. I was built a throne upon which I sit, issue command. But there is still a place that I often retreat to when I need time for myself, a boulder that sits on top of a cliffside looking down and out into the forest that I guard. It is a place of the purest peace, the wind that blows away your worries, where one can meditate undisturbed for hours.

But as of late, there had been a voice gnawing away at my mind. But not of my worm but of something else, someone else. I whispers incomprehensible words, beckoning out to me. I have been ignoring it for a long time but it had grown louder as the time passed. It grew until I can't take it anymore. I need to silence it, find out what it wants from me as no one else seems to have had the same problem. At times the young ones saw me yelling out into a wall, they might start think ill of me. I order Thonro to be in charge whilst I am out and about. I had not given them an explanation on what I was going out for, but they had not questioned me about it. At first I walk around aimlessly, being led by an unknown force to groups of the other enemy factions, but at times I follow a path that my mind makes out despite not me knowing where it leads out to. I venture out into the snow covered mountains, being led by a white raven. At first I thought it was a friend that had accompanied me but it then started to gawk at me whenever it would stand on a surface, be it a branch, a rock, it would then fly out but never went out too far and made sure I was following it. I traveled through thick snow because of it, being lead to who knows where, but I am determined to follow it. It seems to know where I need to go, I do not know how, but it seems it does. It finally lead me to a cave entrance where it flew inside and I followed after it once more. I don't know where it leads me, but we travel deep into the cave. On the surface, it seems to be like any other cave, rock all around, small passageways. That is, until we reach a large open area with flora growing despite there not being any sunlight. At the middle of it stands a white rock formation, sparks of electricity coming from it. The raven perches on top of it, cleaning away it's self before disappearing, leaving behind only a single feather.

I head over and pick up the small white feather, a bird does not simply disappear. I look at the rock that lays before me, it looks familiar. Like I have seen it somewhere before. And once the memory comes I realize, it looks exactly like the Traveler's color and surface. My instinct tells me to destroy it, but my mind can't help but feel curious as to what is it doing here. And how did it end up here? If it were a plateau on the surface then I could maybe fathom on how it ended up there, but we are not on the surface, we are deep underground. The theory of it being from the Traveler does explain the flora that had grown around it despite being so deep underground. I hold onto my cleaver, wondering if I should destroy it. Everything in my body tells me to do it, but my mind, it doesn't want to. That bird, why would it lead me here if not for a reason. And so, with a lot of hesitancy I place my hand onto the surface of the rock and the sounds of water droplets hitting the stone floor are replaced with a unknown source of wind, the area around me lights up and I find myself in a wide open field. Red grass gently waves with each gust of wind that grazes it. The field stretches out towards infinity and even more confusion sets in. How did I end up here? Where am I exactly? I look around until I see something in the distance and so, I slowly make my way towards it. I travel for a long time through this vast emptiness, coming ever so closer to the object that I saw in the distance. Getting closer I am able to make out a silhouette of a strange tree, but around it seems to be more structures. I had vastly underestimated the distance and the size of what I saw. It look small from the distance but it is in fact massive, but was so far away that it made it out to look way smaller than it actually is.

The tree is surrounded by statues of things, animals and shapes. The tree radiates Light, something that I should be disgusted by, but I am not. I am consumed by a pleasant feeling of comfort and warmth. Walking up to the tree I finally touch it but feel nothing special, nothing changed. A voice behind me startles me, I go for my sword, but it is not there. It was a couple moments ago, but now it is simply gone. The figure is covered over by a white veil, it does nothing but stand there.

Kozor: Who are you?

Figure: For who I am is not important. I am glad that you beckoned out to my call and followed it.

Kozor: Was that voice you?

Figure: Correct. It was I who called you here.

Kozor: What is this place? How did I end up here? I was in a cave not too long ago and then I touched the piece of the Traveler and ended up here.

Figure: You were not physically moved here, this is all in your mind. But you are in my garden and you touching the shard allowed me to connect with you.

Kozor: Why did you summon me here? There must be a reason for my presence here.

Figure: But of course there is. I wished to speak with you child. I have already called upon another one of your kind.

Kozor: Who? What?

Figure: They were just like you, different. A different thought from you kin, escaped for a better purpose. They still live, they join me in another garden.

Kozor: So what do you wish for me to do?

Figure: Become my child once more, you are not tainted, you are pure, you are just like him, worthy of a another chance.

Kozor: You want me to become your minion is that it? I do not wish for a ruler over me, I wish to stay in charge of my own existence.

Figure: Of course child, I would not bother you, you would have all the freedom. I only wish for you to carry my power, my gift to aid you in your goals.

Kozor: What power would I be granted and how?

In it's hand, a Ghost forms, a being I have killed many times. This one adorned with flowers, moss and complex patterns, it's eye glows in a beautiful blue color, like that of a clear mountain lake.

Figure: Would you be willing to accept it? You would wield the powers that many you have fought wielded but you they would be yours.

Kozor: Why are you doing this?

Figure: Because, even though you have been forced to the Darkness you defy it, you are like he was, not consumed by it. With this, you would join us, join him. Will you accept my gift?

Kozor: If I don't?

Figure: If you don't I would not be mad, nor disappointed. I would accept it as it is. I just wish for what is best for you.

I take a moment to think it over. There don't seem to be any strings attached, no deception, genuine words are being spoken. It would feel wrong, I have tried to eradicate this  power for so long and now I would have the ability to wield it, if I choose to.

Kozor: Are you the Traveler?

Figure: No. I am not, but we are connected.

I extend out my hand and take hold of the Ghost. As I grab it, it erupts in a blinding light, I feel the power spreading through me, I watch as white wines climb up my arm and slowly consume me. Everything fades to black, but not for too long as I find myself once more, standing in the cave, my hand stretched out, the shard which is supposed to be there is no longer there. The plants that were are nowhere to be seen and in front of my floats the ghost I saw.

Kozor: Do you speak?

Ghost: I do, oh wielder of mine.

Kozor: Do you bear a name?

Hedret: Hedret is my name. And I already know your name, oh wielder of mine, Kozor.

Kozor: So this is it, hahaha.

I watch as a spark forms in my hand and I fire a bolt of lighting into the rock surface. It feels strange, even though I had never wielded this power it comes on as natural to wield. Like I had been wielding it since my making. My hand then erupts in fire, but not Soulfire but real fire.

Hedret: How does it feel?

Kozor: Strange, but welcoming. I will find use of this power. Now let us head back to my home, there is a lot to process.

We walk out of the cave, talking to each other as we head back. Getting to know each other more, I try to ask him about the figure I had spoken to but he tells me that he can't say anything about it. At first I tried to threaten him into telling me like I had done with so many foes but eventually gave up after having realized that this is not me and that Hedret is not my companion. He serves me and I serve him. We finally make it to our base and at first the brood was shocked. I had not noticed, but my armor, which was dark had now turned white, like the snow that sits on top of the mountains illuminated by the sun. The color is similar to what Thonro has but. At the same time, I had learned that I was away for two whole weeks, I had not realized that also. It felt, for me much shorter, at best a day. That would explain their worry for me. I had explained everything to them, not everything, but all the things they need to know. That I had acquired the power of the Light, like Thonro had. Her Ghost though different than mine, they still communicated with each other. This is a completely new revelation and I am excited to what the future hold for me and my people. But at the same time, I have so many questions that need to be answered. But also I wonder who the other one is. The figure said that there had been another one that had been granted power by it and I do hope of meeting him some day. But now, I must concentrate on what, ultimately is my goal, a better future. A different path for my people, a proof that Sword Logic is not everything that we can strive for, that there is another path, a more worthy path.
