Months into Alex's tenure as Chiron's right hand man, he kept busy balancing new recruits like the Roman demigod Jason Grace, the growing concerns over the Prophecy of Seven, and more than anything else, the escalating fear over Percy Jackson's disappearance. Being busy distracted him from pining for Ophelia. She'd not been seen in months.

For the past few months, he had tried to justify his nightmares with stress. But the recurring celestial bronze and platinum bow he'd never seen with waking eyes pointed towards something a bit more prophetic. And the distinctly Underworld dread supported this too.

Alex was almost excited when one night, the reappearance of a familiar and yet altogether different Queen of the Underworld interrupted the horrible dreams. He owed her everything.

Unfortunately for Alex, she knows this. And Proserpina doesn't drop by for social calls.

Brief warnings: as with the previous fic, this story deals with the "child soldier" aspect of the Percy Jackson book in a more serious manner than the Riordan series. The main character, Alex, is well on his way to turning 20 and as such, the tone is slightly more mature (though still suitable for a teenage audience). In addition, this fic features more psychological horror than the first story including but not limited to night terrors and occasional hallucinations.

Don't worry, dearest reader, this fic (and series) has not been abandoned! I will absolutely be finishing it and in fact have a pretty detailed outline for the rest of this and some of the final story in the trilogy. However, 2024 and beginning of 2025 are primarily devoted to finishing up my Tolkien fanfics so updates here will be sparse to nonexistent until then.
