Nate Attano pov.
I don't think I'll ever get use to my current situation. It wasn't even months ago that I cleared my name. Staying in one place and not having to worry about authorities hunting me down. Let me explain w hats going on. I was framed for murdering someone important. Like really important. I was set up by my ex sister in law for murdering my wife the Empress of the Kaldwin clan. Yeah..... I cleared my name by killing my sister in law. That left a bit of a mixed reputation about me though since I technically didn't kill anyone but I put a lot of people like hired mercenaries, guards, and soldiers either into hospitals or psychiatric wards. That was about 6 years ago since I was running for the first 3. But the biggest thing that I still can't get use to is the fact I have to find a good place for my daughter and I to settle down. Oh by the way meet Alice Kaldwin. She's 9 and the most important thing in my life.
It was definitely something to get use to since I had to find a good neighbor, good schooling, decent well everything. Right now I was holding a sleeping Alice as I was lightly knocking on an old friends house. It was around 9 at night. We were in Vale seeing about some housing, but haven't bought anything yet. "One second please!" I heard a light feminine voice call. Then I heard the sound of locks and before I knew it the door was opened to show a woman with black hair and hazel green eyes.
"Hey Hudson." I say softly as she gives a smile.
"Well long time no see." Hudson said before seeing my Daughter Alice sleeping in my arms. "What's up Attano?"
"We need a place to stay for a few days. I would have called ahead but I didn't realize that house hunting would be this difficult." I admitted as Alice muttered something about wanting to ride a unicorn. Hudson ushered us in as I saw a lovely little home.
"Set her on the couch. I'll get a spare blanket." As I set Alice down I smiled at how adorable she was when Hudson came back. She laid the blanket over her before having me follow her to the kitchen where I saw a fresh pot if coffee brewing as 2 mugs were set out.
"Thanks Hudson." I say with a smile as I grab one while she chuckled.
"Its been what? 4 years since I last saw you?" Hudson asked with a smile as I sip the bean nectar.
"6 to be exact. You saw me the day before I cleared my name. Thanks again for letting us stay. I wish I would have seen you under different circumstances. I mean all my stuff has been taken from me so I kinda had to restart over. Thankfully I had some lien stashed away before I got framed." I sigh as I remember how hard the last 6 years have been. I look down into the swirling coffee as I think about how luck Alice and I have been. I'm usual not picky about where I live but I want Alice to grow up in a safe place. I then felt a pair of arms around my waist.
"Hey it's going to get better." Hudson stirred me from my thoughts as I saw her hugging me. She looked up at me which wasn't much height different between us since she was about an inch and a half shorter than me. I'm 5 ft 9 in tall. I hugged her back. "You know my offer still stands." She gave a smirk when we separated.
"Maybe another time. Just not right now. I have to go talk to someone who said they'd help me with my situation." I say chuckling while Hudson still smirks.
"Very well just let me know what you are doing tomorrow. The guest room is in bed shape at the moment so my bed will have to do. And before you protest I have to leave for work in a few since I patrol at night on the weekends. I'll grab Alice and put her in the bed next to you okay? Also it's quite obvious how exhausted you are." Hudson declared as I sighed giving in. I set the coffee down and walked into the living room picking up Alice before following Hudson to her room. Next thing I knew I was laying in the bed falling asleep. So this is what a normal life is like.
