Chapter Two
A soft groan escaped your parted lips as your body began to stir into consciousness. Your e/c eyes fluttered open slowly, the sound of rain against the windows almost lulling you back to sleep.
Slowly, you rolled your body over in the bed, coming face-to-face with the cold, empty spot beside of you.
Your arm reached out to touch the pillow that your boyfriend's head once occupied.
You had gotten used to waking up without him. He was always up early for work...but that didn't stop you from missing the days when he would call in sick, just to be able to stay in bed with you all day. He'd hold you tightly and the two of you would watch movies together on your laptop...everything was so perfect.
Was.
With a heavy sigh, you sat up, ruffling your messy hair and glancing around the room that was filled with numerous unopened boxes.
You still had to finish unpacking and you assumed that Jimin was going to be "too busy" to help you. Once again. Which meant that you would be doing all the work by yourself. Great.
You frowned, standing to your feet and stretching your arms over your head.
Today was your first day in a new town. You were going to have a fresh start and you were going to make the best of it. This was perhaps the last chance for you and Jimin to move past what happened and finally be able to love each other again...You were determined to make today a good day.
You made your way to the bathroom that was conjoined to your bedroom.
You fixed your hair and brushed your teeth, washing your face and making sure that your fake smile was still convincing....after all, that's all you were best at...pretending to be happy.
You decided to change your clothes in the bathroom as well, the unnerving feeling of being watched making you shiver and panic.
After you had finished changing, you stepped outside of the bathroom, moving your gaze around the bedroom for a brief moment.
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you took in the sight of your bed.
You had left it unmade and messy, deciding that you would make it later, but to your surprise, the bed had already been made, the duvet pulled over evenly and the pillows stacked neatly on top of it.
But what caught your attention the most, was the small doll that sat directly in the center of the bed.
Your eyes widened slightly at it's appearance.
It looked just like you.
Every detail matched you to perfection, it was even wearing one of your favorite sweaters...
You shuddered as you looked at it. The doll was giving you an eerie feeling. The way it's e/c button eyes stared at you made you feel as if it could actually see you and follow your movements...but that was impossible...right?
You managed to tear your eyes away from the doll, moving your gaze to your nightstand, reaching to find your phone.
You froze in your spot at the absence of your beloved cellular device.
You frowned in confusion.
You hadn't touched your phone all morning and you were pretty sure that the last place you had it was on your nightstand.
You turned your attention back to the bed, only to see the corner of your phone peeking out from beneath the doll.
You sighed, reaching out and grabbing, only to have a small, folded piece of paper come into your view as you pulled it away from the terrifying burlap doll.
With furrowed brows, you reached out, unfolding the paper and moving your eyes over it.
A small note was neatly written, making you raise an eyebrow as you read it.
'A little gift for the love of my life.
-Jimin'
The look that crossed your face was one of utter disbelief. Not only were you shocked by Jimin's sweet words, you were shocked by the "gift" he had decided to get you...
A doll...that looked like you...That wasn't romantic. That was just creepy.
You couldn't believe that Jimin actually did this..Although the letter was written in his handwriting...maybe he just felt bad about the fight yesterday and was trying to make things right between the two of you.
You frowned as you reached out, picking the doll up and inspecting it closer.
You were really beginning to get uncomfortable...whoever made this got every single detail right...the curve of your nose, the thickness of your lips...this person must have stared at your picture for hours trying to get this right.
You guessed that it wasn't that bad...Once you looked at it, it was kinda...cute-
No, who were you kidding? This thing was creepy.
You thought about walking to the bathroom and throwing it into the trash can, but Jimin crossed your mind.
If he had truly given you this as a gift, then throwing it away would be wrong..You were trying to make your relationship work and throwing out his gift wouldn't be the best way to do that.
You reluctantly pulled out a box from underneath your bed, tossing the unnerving doll into it before pushing it back under, making sure the doll's button eyes could not stare at you anymore.
You let out a sigh of relief before walking out of the room, a smile on your face.
Today was going to be a good day. You were going to make it a good day.
You skipped down the stairs, walking into the kitchen, where you knew your boyfriend would be.
Sure enough, Jimin was seated at the dining table. Countless papers were sprawled out in front of him, alongside his laptop which reflected brightly on the lenses of his glasses, which were perched on his nose.
He had managed to get himself dressed this morning, which was a good thing, since he usually stayed in his pajamas. His blond hair was a mess, sticking up in all directions as if he had been running his hand through it.
You took a deep breath.
You were determined to do this.
You were determined to make things better.
For both of you.
You plastered on a smile, walking over to your boyfriend and leaning down, planting an affectionate kiss to his cheek before walking over to the full coffee pot that rested on the kitchen counter.
Jimin's eyes widened slightly at your action, his gaze following you as you moved.
"Are you alright?" He asked monotonously.
You nodded your head, pouring yourself a cup of hot coffee and turning to face him.
"I'm amazing." You stated. "The rain just put me in a good mood, that's all."
He eyed you for a few more moments before returning his attention back to his work.
"Can you go be in a good mood somewhere else?" He asked. "I'm trying to work here."
Are you serious?
You sipped your coffee, trying your best not to curse at him.
"I found the doll you gave me." You stated.
He frowned.
"Doll?" He repeated with a huff.
You nodded.
"Yeah, the one that looks like me."
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
Your brows furrowed in confusion.
If he didn't give you the doll...then who did?
"Why don't we go into town today?" You asked. "I've heard that there's a few nice shops and restaurants. We could go to-"
"No."
You frowned.
"Well then, why don't we go out in the rain? We used to do that all the time-"
"No."
Biting back your anger, you sent him a glare.
"We could watch a movie, then."
A heavy sigh erupted from your boyfriend, his fingers rubbing his nose from underneath his glasses.
"I told you, Y/n. I'm busy with my work." He deadpanned. "Why don't you go talk with the neighbors or something."
"But, I-"
"Y/n."
You froze at the warning tone in his voice, eyes widening slightly as anger and frustration began to overtake you.
"Fine." You huffed out.
You walked out of the kitchen, trying your best not to lose your cool.
Clearly, today was not going to be as good as you had originally anticipated.
Your hands shot out, grabbing your yellow raincoat before you walked out the door, closing it behind you softly.
"Stupid Jimin." You spat quietly. "All you ever do it work."
With a deep sigh, you walked off the porch, moving towards the small apartment that was located underneath the house.
From what you were told, three boys lived there together, each one paying a part of the rent. You didn't know their names, but Mrs. Kim told you that they were around your age...which meant that you may be able to make friends with them...maybe.
You hesitantly knocked on the door, knuckles meeting the green wood swiftly.
A few loud curses could be heard coming from inside, along with a loud crash as the people inside moved around, yelling incoherent words to one another.
Finally, the door was opened.
A young man stood before you, his chest heaving as he leaned against the door, trying his best to look casual as he stared at you.
His, dyed, bright red hair was ruffled and messy, his clothes were wrinkled and disheveled as his frantic hazel eyes searched your face.
"C-Can I help you?" He asked breathlessly.
You furrowed your brows at his odd appearance.
"Are you alright?"
He nodded hastily.
"I-I just drank the last sprite and I'm trying to evade my early death."
Instantly you began regretting your decision to come here.
You began to turn on your heel.
"I should just go-"
"Who's at the door, Jungkook!?"
A second voice filled your ears, causing you to flinch back at the loud sound.
Another man moved to stand behind the other, his hand slapping the back of the other boy's head.
This man seemed to be older than the other. His features were more sharp and mature as he moved his gaze towards you. His hard was a dirty blond color, it wasn't as messy at the red-head's, but it still could stand to be styled and combed.
He sent you a soft smile.
"I'm sorry for my room mate's bad behavior," He started. "My name is Jung Hoseok and this is Jeon Jungkook."
You swallowed, nodding your head.
"My name is Y/n." You stated. "I just moved into the house and I wanted to get to know my neighbors a little better."
Jungkook's brow raised seductively, his body moving towards your own.
"I think you and I can get to know each other very well-"
His words were cut off as Hoseok's elbow jabbed him in the ribs, sending him a look of disapproval.
"Ignore him." He told you. "He tends to think with his dick and not his brain."
You chuckled, shaking your head.
"It's okay." You said.
Hoseok hummed, motioning towards his door.
"Would you like to come in?"
You smiled.
These guys seemed to be pretty cool. They were by far some of the most normal people you had met since being here and you would certainly like to get to know them better.
"I would love to."
A/N,
Alright, it's time to do a "cliche checklist"!
1. Sucky boyfriend. -Check
2. Hot next door neighbor -Check
3. Creepy doll. -Che-Hang on that's not really a cliche...
Well, two outta three ain't bad.
I love you.
-Max
