Chapter Twenty-Four
"Absolutely not."
A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you reached for the kitchen knife, pulling it from the drawer before walking towards the table where your backpack was placed.
"Don't be like this, Taehyung." You breathed. "We both know I can't just leave them there to die."
The chestnut--haired man shook his head.
"We'll find another way to get them out of there." He explained. "You're going back too soon. He's using them to get to you."
"You don't think I know that?" You snapped. "I'm not stupid. I know what going back means for me....I know what's waiting on the other side of that door."
Taehyung frowned, running a hand through his messy locks as he took a step forwards.
"Then why?" He whispered. "Why are you so determined to go back there if you know that you're walking right into a trap?"
Your eyes slowly met his as you placed the knife inside your backpack, your mind already determining the battles you would surely have to face in the other world.
You could see on Taehyung's face that he was worried for you-for your safety and the thought had your heart stuttering for a brief moment. He cared about you...he made that clear to you the night he helped you escape..and you-you cared for him as well.
You wished you were a bad person.
Maybe then you'd be able to forget about this place. Forget about Namjoon and Jimin and leave...never to come back again.
Perhaps you were stupid.
"I can't just leave them with him," You started, "They're in this mess because of me. All of this is because of me...I've been there...I know what that monster can do-what he's capable of and so do you....How can you ask me to leave them, when you know how much danger they're in."
A huff escaped his fully-healed lips, his gaze darting all over the kitchen as you swung your backpack over your shoulder, readying for your adventure to the other side.
"What happens if you're trapped there?" He asked. "For all you know, you're just giving yourself away..He may never let them go."
Your eyes were set.
"I have to try."
"I agree with her."
You both jumped back at the sudden voice that filled the kitchen, eyes darting towards the red-headed man who currently leaned against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest as he stared at you.
Taehyung's eyes widened at his words.
"B-But-"
"She's a grown woman." He said. "She has a right to make her own choices...We shouldn't stop her-We can't stop her."
Taehyung frowned.
"Why are you supporting her?" He asked. "You hate Jimin."
Jungkook chuckled, shrugging his shoulders.
"I won't deny that," He snickered. "But it isn't my decision. It's Y/n's. She cares about him...and I know for a fact...that if it were her stuck in that place....We'd all risk everything to bring her back to safety."
You sent the red-head a smile, nodding your head in his direction.
He returned the motion, a sad smile forming on his lips.
Taehyung's eyes snapped to yours.
"I'm going with you."
You shook your head, moving towards the living room.
"No way." You sighed. "If you come with me, Jimin will just have another thing to hold over my head...He'd use you against me and who's to say that he won't hurt you again?"
"I'm willing to take that risk."
"Well, I'm not."
The chestnut-haired male frowned at your reluctance.
"I can't send you back there alone." He whispered, hands moving to rest on your face. "What if he hurts you again? What if-"
"I need you to trust me." You breathed softly, placing your hand over his. "You have to stay safe...Stay here and wait for me...I'll come back, I promise."
His eyes flickered with an unknown emotion before he was shooting forward, scooping your into his arms and holding onto your figure tightly.
"Please don't go." He whimpered. "Don't leave me...I-I've just found my freedom...I've just found you. I-I need you. I-I...I-"
You smiled sadly, returning his embrace before pulling back slowly.
Taehyung watched as you grabbed his hand, placing it in the center of his chest before covering it with your own.
"I know." You sighed. "I know, Taehyung."
His eyes grew wider for a split second, watching helplessly as you moved backwards, gravitating towards the small door that would surely lead to your demise.
With shaky hands, you grabbed the handle, giving one last glance to the man behind you.
"I'll be back soon."
He frowned, turning his body away from you.
He couldn't watch you leave...He couldn't bring himself to do it and you understood that...if you were in his position...you'd be the same way.
With a deep breath, you pulled open the small door, forcing your body into the confined space.
"Y-Y/n."
You looked back at Taehyung with a quizzing look.
"Ask him to play a game." He said. "He never plays fair...but he loves games and he won't refuse you....It could spare you some time."
You smiled at him, nodding your head before turning your back and crawling back into the tunnel that you had come to despise with your entire being.
You could feel your heart pounding in your chest as you crawled over the velvety material that lined the small tunnel, goosebumps littering your skin as dread began to over take you, causing you to tense slightly.
You knew that this was basically a suicide mission. Going back into this place was completely irrational and stupid...but you couldn't just let the evil Jimin win...You couldn't let him hurt the people you cared about....
You flinched as the small door slammed shut behind you, blocking your exit.
Taehyung's muffled yelling filled your ears as he tried to pry the small door open...
You swallowed hard, turning the face the other side of the tunnel where the small door slowly began to open up...the familiar scent and colors of the other world tempting you to go back to them.
You continued to crawl towards the light, your eyes widening as a familiar face came into your view.
"Y/n?"
Jimin sent you a dazzling smile as he took in your crammed body, his blond hair shining beneath the soft light of the living room.
"Jimin?" You called.
He smiled, chestnut eyes glistening.
"Y/n!" He exclaimed happily. "You came back for us!"
"Jimin!" You yelled happily, forcing yourself to move faster until you were on the other side of the tunnel, arms wrapping around his waist happily. "Thank god you're safe! I thought he'd-"
"Darling," His voice lowered as he returned your embrace, hands petting your hair. "Why would you run away from me?"
Your eyes widened slowly as your gaze moved up his body, watching in horror as the blond slowly faded from his hair, a dark shade of black replacing it. His bright eyes slowly became dark and colorless voids....filled with nothing more than anger and fury.
You gasped, pushing him away roughly.
He smiled at your actions, running a hand through his hair.
"Wh-Where are Jimin and Namjoon?" You asked. "What did you do with them!?"
He raised an eyebrow, hands gripping your face gently as he stroked the apple of your cheek.
"Gosh, I don't know," He lied smugly. "Perhaps they got bored of you and ran way to France...Isn't that where Namjoon promised to take you, baby?"
You jerked away from his touch, eyes narrowing on his figure as you took a step backwards.
"They didn't leave!" You accused. "You stole them! Where are they?"
His smile faltered as his eyes moved to something behind you, fingers snapping as he smiled.
"Now, don't be difficult, babygirl."
A yelp of surprise left your lips as you were hoisted into the air by one of Jimin's "brothers", the other version of Jungkook smiling happily at you as he threw your body down into the same chair you had been trapped in the day before.
You watched with annoyance as the locked your hands, feet and waist into place, preventing you from moving.
A soft hum left Jimin's lips as he slammed the small door shut with his foot, motioning for the other Jungkook to leave the room, which he gladly did.
"Why are you doing this?" You asked angrily. "Don't you have anything better to do than torment me and ruin my life?!"
Jimin straightened his posture.
"He's the one who ruined your life." He gritted. "That boy you call 'boyfriend', the man you once loved...He's the one who made you miserable. I only ever wanted to protect you...to make you happy...But it isn't goo enough for you, is it?"
You scoffed.
"You're insane." You deadpanned. "You think I'll be happy like this? Stuck in a world with someone I could never love-someone I hate!?"
His eyes snapped to yours, anger radiating off of his form in waves.
"THEY DON'T DESERVE YOU!" He roared, slamming his hands on the arms of your chair. "I have risked everything to have you here with me. I've lost so much...just to make you happy...I even lost my own brother-two of my brothers! What have they done for you? One man lied and cheated. He treated you like garbage for years and you put up with it! The other man...well, you don't even remember him, do you? You don't even know how tightly he held you or the wonderful lies he whispered in your ear as you slept."
You glared at him silently.
"But, I remember it," He continued. "I was there through everything and I will continue to be there....because you are mine. I am yours. Those two....they don't matter-they never have...we're the only ones that matter....I'll prove to you that this is where you truly belong...a palace I've designed just for you....but first,"
You swallowed hard as you watched him pull away from you, body gravitating towards the coffee table as his hands picked up a very familiar box.
You shuddered as he opened it, revealing the ring you thought you had left behind.
"First, you have to willingly commit," He smirked. "Marry me."
A loud laugh left your lips as you gawked at him.
"Never." You spat. "Not in a million years. I'd rather die than spend another day with you."
He doesn't seem fazed by your reaction, in fact, he seems to have expected it.
"Fine." He shrugged. "Then, I'll kill your friends."
Your eyes widened slightly, the chair squeaking beneath you as you struggled against it's binds.
Jimin smiled at your obvious hesitancy.
"Ah." He purred. "That's your weak spot, kitten...I know how to get to you...I know what makes you tick...You're far too kind to be in such a terrible world...I'll make you a deal...They can leave...but you must stay and wear the ring."
Your chest heaved as Taehyung's advice rang in your ears, hands trembling slightly.
"How about a game?" You asked.
Jimin's eyebrow shot up, his interest obviously peaked.
"A game?" He repeated.
You nodded your head.
"I know you like games."
He stayed stoic, trying to mask his obvious amusement.
"What kind of game would it be, darling?"
You sucked in a breath.
"A finding things game." You explained.
He took a seat on the couch, crossing his legs as his eyes slowly trailed over every inch of your body.
"And what is it, you'd be finding, baby?"
You narrowed your eyes.
"Jimin and Namjoon. But, you'd have to give me a hint...this place is too big and I'd run out of time."
His brows raised slightly.
"And what if you don't find them?" He asked.
You swallowed.
"I-If I lose...I'll wear the ring willingly and let you love me....I'll stay here with you...forever."
The purr of appreciation that poured from his lips told you that he greatly wanted that to happen.
"And what happens if you win?"
"You let them go." You deadpanned. "You let all of us go."
He sighed heavily, extending his hand out towards you.
You flinched as the chair suddenly went back to normal, freeing you from your bonds.
"Deal." He smiled.
You shook your head.
"Not until you give me a clue."
His smile only widened at your response.
You frowned in confusion as he raised his hand, snapping his fingers.
Loud ringing filled your ears without warning, a sharp pain shooting through your skull as a searing pain invaded your senses, forcing your knees to buckle underneath you.
Numerous flashes of different scenes began to show in front of you as everything crammed into your skull all at once, causing your body to convulse and shake.
The sound of Namjoon's laughter filled your ears as well as your own horrified scream as the sight of a dead man filled your vision.
You had never experienced this kind of pain before in your life, it was enough to make you want to pull your hair out and end yourself.
But as soon as it came...it was gone.
Your breathing was uneven and heavy as the pain suddenly left you, sweat dripping form your forehead and slowly, pieces of the puzzle began to click into place.
"Wh-What was that?" You asked.
Jimin smiled, kneeling to your level and patting your head.
"That was your clue, dear." He hummed. "You wanted a hint...
So I gave you your memories back."
