Chapter Thirteen

Your brows were furrowed as you stared at the man before you, head tilted to the side cutely as your e/c orbs scanned his form up and down, confusion etching your features.

The tall man smiled at you from the couch, his head tilting to mirror your own, eyes never leaving yours as his dimples slowly come into your view.

"So..you're Taehyung's friend?" You asked softly, eyeing him oddly.

He nodded his head, golden eyes shining.

"I am." He popped. "I'm from..out of town."

You hummed, shifting on your feet awkwardly as you glanced around the room you stood in.

"Are you going to be staying here for a while?"

He shrugged his shoulders.

"As long as I have to."

You nodded your head.

When Taehyung had shown up at your home with another male, you had no idea exactly what his plans were..or why he had even brought a total stranger to your home.

He told you that the man's name was Namjoon and that he needed a place to stay for a few days... He asked you if you would be willing to accept him into your home...

You wanted to say no and deny him, but you knew that Taehyung wouldn't be asking you if there wasn't a legitimate reason...You didn't know this man, but you did know Taehyung and you trusted him...if he said that Namjoon was a good person, then you believed him...He assured you that it would only be temporary, something about him being in town for work.

Besides, Jimin was moving his things out soon, it may be nice to have some company around the house when he's gone.

"Where are you from?" You asked.

Namjoon shrugged.

"I was actually born in this house." He stated.

Your eyes widened slightly.

"Really?" You asked. "Your family used to live here? Taehyung told me that the last person to live here was his grandmother when she was a girl."

Namjoon shook his head.

"I was born in the other house." He explained. "I barely made it out of that place. My brother was insistent that I stay."

Your brows crashed together at his words.

"The other house?" You repeated. "You mean one of the apartments?"

Namjoon frowned.

"No." He stated. "The other version of this house...the one you are pulled to every night."

Your eyes widened, mouth opening to question how he knew that.

"I come bearing left overs!"

Your eyes snapped up just in time to watch as Jungkook entered through the front door, Hoseok and Jin following behind him, each of them hold small containers in their hands.

"I'm sorry for him," Jin sighed, motioning towards Jungkook. "I guess he's never learned how to knock on a door."

You swallowed, shaking your head as you put on a smile.

"It's fine." You laughed, looking at the containers in their hands. "You brought me food?"

Jungkook nodded happily, tapping the lid.

"Jin made lasagna for lunch, and there was a lot left over."

You smiled widely, eyes moving to the eldest of the men.

"Thank you."

Jin opened his mouth to speak.

"You're welcome!" Jungkook chimed, earning an eye roll from Hoseok.

"Where do you want us to put this?" Hoseok asked.

You motioned towards the kitchen.

"The fridge is fine." You said.

They nodded, walking into the kitchen and beginning to put the food away.

You glanced at the black-haired man that sat on your couch.

"By the way," You started. "This is Namjoon...He's Taehyung's friend."

Seokjin's head perked up at the name, head tilted.

"We've met." He stated.

You frowned in confusion, glancing between the two men.

"You've already met each other?"

Jungkook nodded his head, walking over to you and throwing his arm over your shoulder.

"We met him last night when he was taking you back here from Yoongi's."

Your eyes widened, gaze snapping over to Namjoon, who stared at you with an expressionless face.

"You were the one that brought me back here?"

He nodded silently.

"Yeah." Hoseok said. "He brought you down around six o'clock this morning while we were all getting ready for work. He said that he knew you..."

You stared at Namjoon in shock, mouth hanging open as you watched him study you, his golden eyes filled with silent knowledge, telling you just how much he seemed to know.

So that's how you got back into the house...But why did he bring you here?

"I'm going to put this lasagna in the oven," Seokjin stated. "It should be warm by dinner. In case you two get hungry."

You nodded your head, turning to face him as he walked towards the door.

Jungkook approached you, his body looming closely to yours as he whispered.

"Has Jimin been bothering you?" He asked. "Is he still refusing to leave?"

You shook your head slowly.

"He's upstairs packing right now." You told him. "He should be out by the end of the day."

Jungkook nodded.

"Just let me know if you need me to come back here." He said, glancing towards the staircase. "I'll make sure he leaves."

You smiled, pecking his cheek and ruffling his red hair.

"Will do, Kookie."

He smiled at you, bumping his nose against yours before pulling back and following Jin out the front door.

Hoseok gave you a small wave before closing the door with a small click.

You turned your attention back to Namjoon, the silence becoming thick and heavy between the two of you.

"Why did you tell them you know me?" You asked. "I just met you today."

Namjoon's face remained stoic.

"I do know you." He stated, standing to his feet. "I've known you for years."

You frowned, stepping backwards as he slowly approached you.

"Am I missing something?" You said. "I have never spoken to you in my life."

The black-haired man nodded.

"I know." He stated. "We have never spoken, but that doesn't mean that I don't know you...I've known you since you came here all those years ago..."

You took another step back.

This man was beginning to sound like a creep.

"Wh-What are you talking about?"

Namjoon continued to advance towards you.

"You helped me get out of that place. You helped me get away from my brother." He said. "And now I am going to do the same for you."

You shivered as your back hit the wall, shoulders tensing.

"You sound insane." You deadpanned.

Namjoon hummed, bringing his hand up to cup your cheek, his eyes scanning your features.

"He hurt you."

Your eyes widened at that, body flinching as Namjoon's thumb brushed over the small cut on your cheek that you had received last night.

You shook your head.

"I scratched myself in my sleep." You tried to explain.

He shook his head, eyes boring into yours.

"They're not dreams." He deadpanned. "My brother is real and he's dangerous...he is the one that did this to you.."

Images of the other version of your ex boyfriend flashed in your mind, causing your heart to drop in your chest, tears beginning to blur your vision as a familiar since of terror washed over you, eyes glancing over the bruises that had appeared on your wrists the night prior.

"How-How do you know-"

"Do not be afraid, Y/n." He said. "I will not let him hurt you....that's why I brought back here last night.."

You swallowed hard.

"I-I don't-"

"Y/n?"

Your body jumped as the sound of Jimin's voice floated to your ears, eyes snapping to the staircase.

Jimin walked down the stairs, his eyebrows furrowed beneath his thick-rimmed glasses as he took in your intimate position with the strange man in front of you.

You cleared, pushing Namjoon away from you.

"This-This is Taehyung's frien-"

"Kim Namjoon." The black-haired man interrupted, extending his hand out to the blond.

Jimin eyed his hand oddly, gaze moving to yours.

"Why is he here?" He asked, pushing past the stranger.

You sighed, running a hand through your hair.

"Taehyung said he needed some place to stay," You said. "So, I said he could sleep here for a while."

Jimin's eyes widened slightly.

"Seriously?" He asked.

You nodded.

Jimin frowned, pushing past Namjoon and walking towards you, motioning for you to follow him into the kitchen.

You followed behind him slowly, mentally preparing yourself for whatever argument you were about to have.

"I already know what you're going to say." You breathed.

Jimin furrowed his brows.

"Then you know how ridiculous this is?" He asked. "You don't know this man. He could be a pervert for all you know."

Your shoulders slumped, head shaking.

"Taehyung said he was a good guy-"

"You've only known Taehyung for a week." Jimin interjected. "You can't just take his word as truth."

"I trust him." You stated defiantly. "And it's my decision."

He sighed heavily, running his hand through his blond locks.

"I know." He stated. "I just want you to be safe. I won't...I won't be here to stop him if he tries anything..."

You nodded in understanding.

"I have the neighbors on speed dial." You explained. "If he tries anything, I'll just ask them to come and kick him out."

Jimin bit his lip, glancing down to stare at the floor.

"Maybe I should just stay a few mor-"

"No." You interrupted.

Jimin's eyes saddened, expression falling.

"Why not?" He asked. "It would only be until he leaves. I just want to make sure your safe...Especially if your nightmares are beginning to come back-"

"Jimin, please." You breathed, glancing up at him.

He frowned, opening his mouth to speak, only to be cut off.

"He should stay."

Your eyes snapped up to Namjoon, watching as he entered the kitchen.

"Were you-"

"I'm not planning to hurt you," Namjoon reasoned, glancing at you. "But, Jimin will help with your nightmares...he's the only thing that can pull you out of the other wo-"

"Okay!" You interrupted, clapping your hand over Namjoon's mouth, eyes widening.

Jimin's eyebrows furrowed at your actions, arms crossing over his chest.

"What is he talking about?" He asked.

You shook your head, feigning innocence.

"I have no idea." You lied. "Taehyung said he has a big imagination."

Jimin's eyes narrowed.

"Right."

You frowned, looking back towards Namjoon.

Either this man was crazy,

Or he was a genius.
