Chapter Seventeen

You were quiet and still as you watched the bandage wrap around your injured wrist, eyes glazed over with countless emotions as you sniffed back your tears, body still shaking from the event that occurred a short time ago.

Taehyung wrapped your wound with gentle hands, his eyes neutral as they scanned over the purple mark that formed over the snapped joint.

You were stupid to return here.

After the way you left and didn't come back for days, you should have known that Jimin would do something like this...you should have known that you would be punished for your cruel actions...

Taehyung sighed heavily.

He wished you didn't return....maybe then he wouldn't be forced to watch as you trembled beneath his touch, flinching anytime his skin brushed yours.

Jimin had really taken it far this time.

"Keep the cast dry." He spoke softly, placing a piece of medical tape onto the bandages.

You only nodded, pulling your hand away from him, eyes never raising to meet his.

Taehyung's eyes softened slightly at your movements.

"You shouldn't make him angry like that." He stated softly. "He isn't himself when he's angry."

Your eyes raised to meet his, a hidden fury sparking behind your e/c orbs.

"So you think it's my fault?" You snapped.

The blond man nodded his head.

"Of course it's your fault." He said. "You were the one who made him angry. You should have come back sooner."

"I don't want to be here!" You defended. "I don't want to be anywhere near him or any of you for that matter!"

"Be quiet." Taehyung scolded. "He'll hear you."

You shook your head, huffing angrily.

"I don't care." You deadpanned. "I'd rather be dead than spend another second in the place with him-"

"You should be grateful." He interrupted. "He saved you from that place. He's only doing this because he loves you."

Your eyes widened at his words, awe spreading over your features.

"Love?" You repeated. "You think that slamming me against the wall and breaking my wrist is love!?"

Taehyung straightened his posture, not entirely sure how he should answer you.

"He was only punishing you for your reckless actions."

"What's wrong with you?" You snapped coldly. "How can you not see that he's a monster?!"

Taehyung's face hardened.

"He is my brother and your boyfriend." He spat. "You should show him some respect."

"He should show me respect!" You countered. "If he loves me like you claim he does, then he would be kind to me and understanding! He wouldn't get angry over the smallest things and he wouldn't threaten me to return his affection! You're blind if you can't see how evil he is-"

Taehyung grabbed your good wrist, pulling your face inches away from his own, his nostrils flaring in anger as your chest heaved, e/c eyes set in determination.

"Listen to me," He breathed, glancing around the room. "You must be careful of what you say."

Your brows furrowed at his suddenly gentle tone, head tilting as he continued.

"My brother has ears everywhere." He continued. "I cannot guarantee your safety if he catches you saying something like that. Be cautious, Y/n."

You frowned in confusion.

"You-You're scared of him." You whispered.

Taehyung's expression remained neutral.

"I saw what he did to you." He stated. "I heard you tell him you hate him...Dumb move on your part."

You sighed.

"I'm scared for you." He said. "Jimin has always been the most powerful...I fear what he will do if you dare tell him that again."

Your eyes shot up to his.

"Can you help me get home?"

His brows instantly furrowed at that, head shaking.

"This is not my business." He deadpanned. "I will not help my brother hurt you, but I will also not help you to escape. I am only warning you...nothing more."

You bit your lip, hands gently gripping his.

"He hurt you, didn't he?"

Taehyung's eyes widened at your words, his hands moving to tug the sleeve of his shirt down as he pushed your hands away from him, brows crashing together.

"That's none of your concern." He scolded.

Your eyes softened on him as you watched him stand.

"He did." You muttered. "And he still hurts you."

"Enough!" Taehyung growled.

You stood to your feet, grabbing his hand and rolling up the sleeve of his white, button down shirt.

Your eyes widened as numerous scars came into your vision, long narrow scars that appear to have been stitched up with great skill.

Taehyung didn't move to stop you, his eyes narrowed as he watched your reaction.

"Hideous." He gritted, pulling his arm from your grip. "Aren't they?"

You could feel your heart pulling towards him.

"I'm sorry." You breathed.

His eyes shot up at that, gaze snapping to meet yours.

"Why should you apologize?" He spat. "You aren't responsible, I did this to myself. I disobeyed him and he kept cutting me up and putting me back together...I don't need or want pity from someone whom he has only ever loved and cared for-"

"I don't pity you." You interrupted. "I sympathize."

He scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"What's the difference?"

"Experience." You stated.

The blond remained silent as he watched you move closer to him, eyes scanning over his face.

Taehyung felt a since of peace wash over him as you raised your hand to cup his face, thumb brushing against the apple of his cheek gently.

"I think," You sighed. "We're both prisoners in this place."

The blond man swallowed hard, squeezing his eyes shut as he pulled away from your touch, instantly missing the warmth you brought as he stepped back.

"Be careful from now on." He said. "He may not be so kind next time."

With those last words, Taehyung turned on his heel, pulling his sleeve down once again.

A single hot tear fell down his face, hand wiping it instantly.

He couldn't get involved.

He promised himself that he wouldn't get involved.

It would only hurt everyone..

Including you.

_____________________________________________________________________

Jimin's eyes were narrowed as he stared at the man in front of him, jaw tightening as he clenched his fist, mind struggling to process the information he had just been fed.

He didn't think he could believe it.

Another world?

Another reality outside your own? It was a foolish notion- a fleeting thought of a simple-minded child.

When he had come back to the house that night, he had been met with a frantic, crazy-eyed Namjoon. The raven-haired man grabbed him by his shoulders and shook him, screaming something about him being too late.

When he asked what was going on, Namjoon had claimed that you had been taken.

This caused Jimin to begin worrying.

He wanted to call the police, but Namjoon stopped him, telling him that there was no point...he already knew where you were....But when Jimin asked, Namjoon was hesitant to tell him.

It wasn't until Jimin threatened to have him arrested did he finally start speaking.

He had spoken about this "other world" where different version's of oneself walk and talk just like normal people. He told him about his brothers and their desire to have you to themselves and their loyalty to their master whom he deemed as "other Jimin".

The blond-haired man, of course, thought this was utter nonsense...until Namjoon pulled out the doll.

It looked exactly like you, a large smile on it's face as it's e/c button eyes shined underneath the light.

Jimin's mind went back to your first day here..you had mentioned something about a doll...but he never thought anything of it...until now.

"So, you're telling me that my girlfriend was kidnapped by another version of me that lives in a different world that looks like this one, but it slightly better?"

Namjoon sighed, running a hand through his hair as he nodded.

"Ex girlfriend." He corrected. "And I know it sounds crazy, trust me, but everything I told you is the truth...she's in danger."

Jimin's brows crashed together.

"Let's assume that I believe you," He gritted. "Why didn't anyone tell me about this before? Why didn't Y/n tell me?"

Namjoon swallowed.

"She thought they were dreams." He explained. "She had no idea what she was really getting herself into...and when I told her the truth...she asked me not to tell you."

Jimin's expression hardened.

"I don't care." He snapped. "If you knew that I was the only thing that could bring her back, you should have told me! Then we wouldn't be in this mess!"

"So you believe me?" The black-haired man questioned.

Jimin huffed out, crossing his arms.

"I don't trust you." He growled. "But I don't think you would joke about something as serious as this..."

Namjoon sighed in relief.

"Thank god." He breathed in relief. "Now, we can begin to plan."

"Plan?" Jimin repeated. "We don't need a plan, we need to go to that world and bring her back!"

Namjoon shook his head slowly.

"It isn't as simple as that." He started. "If we just show up, we'll be on his playing field...he could kill us both and keep her there for eternity."

"So what, you want us to just stay here and wait?!" Jimin asked. "If what you told me is true, then she's in danger. I cannot just sit here-"

"If you go there, he'll kill you and you'll be of no help to her!" Namjoon roared.

Jimin fell silent, hands rubbing down his face as he moved his gaze to the wooden floor of the living room.

"I should have been here," He breathed. "I-If I had just moved the interview to tomorrow I-"

"Interview?" Namjoon questioned. "I thought you were going on a date."

The blond shook his head, eyes sad.

"I let her believe that.." He breathed. "I was really going to a job interview...I wanted something that would give me more free time...more time to be with her like I should have been.."

Namjoon frowned at his confession, fists clenching.

"You can't change the past." He gritted. "Don't beat yourself up about this...We just need to focus on getting her back."

"What if it's too late?" Jimin asked.

Namjoon sighed.

"Then, there's nothing we can do to save her."
