Chapter 20
"NO!" was all I could say as I heard the weeps of my mother from the other line. I could not believe it. I mean, he was just fine this morning when I called them. It doesn't make any sense because he was okay. What happened?!
"H-How?" I asked my mother.
"Blood clots... due to another high fever." She said and sniffled. "Will you g-go here right now? She asked me.
As if she could see me, I shook my head as tears continuously flowed down my cheeks. I heard a hum from the other line, "At least he won't have a hard time anymore..." I could feel my mother's broken yet genuine smile.
"I know you won't be able to come today... just, clam yourself down first, okay baby?" She told me.
"Y-Yes, mom." I hung up on her, and started to run to my house. I did not care about the pity looks on the people's eyes that made contact with my tear-filled ones
Slamming the front door, I barge into the kitchen and grabbed the whole pack of canned beers and some bottles of soju before going to the balcony, opening the first can and drinking furiously.
"Why?! WHY?!" I cried out as I stepped on the empty can, squishing it.
Jimin's POV
"Argh... Jimin no." I groaned in frustration as I failed to rap my part in this new song that Yoongi hyung composed.
"Did they really just leave me at home while I was asleep?" I thought as I crumpled the sticky note that they left on the fridge that says, "U didn't want to get up, so we left u. Sorry :>>> Will get you some take outs on the way home tho."
Clearing my throat, I started to try my part again when I heard someone's loud voice. At first I thought was the hyungs and just decided to ignore it.
"Why did you have to leave us now?!" A familiar voice screamed followed by something being thrown.
I went to go to my balcony door and saw Y/N, screaming and crying out on her balcony, wearing anything but a jacket or anything warm.
"In this time of night, out in this weather?" I let out a stressed sigh and went to my dresser, putting on a hoodie and getting another one for the probably freezing girl who was having a breakdown.
I quickly ran to her house and opened the door. I went to her room; it was incredibly messy. Clothes were on the floor, some glass shards were all over, but that didn't stop me.
"WHAT DID MY FATHER EVER DO TODESERVE THIS?!" Y/n screamed out into the distance as she gulped down her bottle of soju before reaching down another bottle and taking a huge gulp.
"She's definitely drunk... what happened Y/N?" I just stood there, pitying the crying girl in front of me who was still shouting. Luckily, there were no close houses that would be able to hear all her rambling.
I could see her shiver as she was drinking from her bottle, "WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST TAKE ME?! WHY MY FATHER? WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE MY FUC-" I hugged her from behind, making sure that her exposed skin is behind my clothed ones.
"Cry... cry it all out. I'm here for you." I did not know why but I told her that with the most genuine way I can. I felt her get soft in my arms and started to just cry.
She turned around to face me, digging her head in my chest. Her tears were staining my hoodie but I did not care at all, all I cared about in this moment was how to make this lovely girl feel okay, feel better.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I managed to get the teary girl back inside the house and wrapped her with blankets as she sat on the bed, holding a cup of warm water which would warm up her insides and make her a little bit sober.
She drank a gulp of the water, biting her lip as it quivered while tears started streaming down her face again. I just stood there, giving her some space. She looked up at me and patted the place beside her, telling me to sit next to her.
I obliged and sat next to her. I felt her body tense up a bit, so I held her hand, slowly caressing it and said, "It's okay... no need to rush. I'll stay with you."
She smiled at me and squeezed my hand, "I'll tell you."
She started to tell me what happened. How her father started with on and off fever that rose up and led to a coma, to he suddenly got another high fever which produced blood clots that got into his lungs, constricting his breath till he passed.
I nodded from time to time, but I kept quiet, giving her time to just vent out all of her problems. I felt sad for her, and my heart broke every time I see a tear roll down her face.
She sniffled, "I just... find it so absurd that butterflies were the reason. I mean butterflies?! Seriously?!"
I was lost, "Butter...flies?" I asked her.
"You don't know what butterflies are?"
As much as I don't want to admit, I shook my head and she released her precious giggles. I laughed along with her while scratching the back of my head in embarrassment.
She pointed at her necklace, a gold chain with a, I suppose, butterfly pendant in the middle. It looked so cool until I remember my mom's warning from before.
"Oh... those. Mo never let me touch or even see any of those cuz they were 'dangerous'." I quoted and rolled my eyes in utter disbelief.
She took a sip from her mug, "My mom too. Huh, what's wrong with our mothers?" She said, laughing a bit at the end.
She faced me, her happy smile finally showing on her beautiful face, "We're more similar than I thought!" She exclaimed.
I blushed at the distance, but due to the lack of lights in the room, she didn't see it. I smiled back, "We sure are!" I said.
She plopped back to her spot, drinking the last bit of water in her mug. She sighed, " I have the sudden urge to make origamis." She suddenly said, shocking me.
W-wait... origamis?! Is this just a coincidence or does she remember and she's just playing tricks on me?
"...but not here. I want to make them at like, a comic book cafe or somewhere calm." She continued and I got up and offered her my hand. She looked up at me, her questioning eyes gazing up at me.
"Let's go! Let's have some fun." I smiled and pulled her up the bed, dragging her out of her room and down the stairs.
"HOLD ON!!" She screamed while laughing.
~~~~~~~~~~~
She got out of the car and started to run to her favorite comic book café. She was jumping in delight as she called for me, like an overly excited child asking their parents to buy them some candy.
We bowed, greeting the employees that smiled at us and greeted us. we could see an adequate amount of people that were picking out books, eating while reading, or just simply reading in one of the 'pods' or sleeping and reading areas.
"Okay, Y/N. Do you want me to go order some food now or later?" I asked the girl but I got no answer. I looked at the spot where she was and she was nowhere, only spotting her at one of the bookcases.
I chuckled before walking to where she was. I could see her struggling to reach a book that was far from her reach. Like in those dramas, my hand swooped in and she was shocked, turning around only to bump into my chest.
I looked at the book the he was trying to reach, "Hold on... you read boy love comics?!" I also screamed in shock but she thankfully covered my mouth.
"Shush, now give me that." She said and took the book that was in my grasp before hopping to one of the pods.
Still in shock, I followed her. She was wrapped in a ball as she was grinning while reading her comic. I plopped the art stuff on the ground but that didn't even get an ounce of her attention.
I tapped her shoulder, also ignored. I crossed my arms and let out a 'hmmph' sound, obviously sulking. In my baby voice, I asked her, "I thought you were going to make an origami."
"Shushhhh... just one book." She said and proceeded to read.
I grabbed the book that she was holding, pulling her with me. She landed on my chest and my arm wrapped around her, also grabbing the book.
"Let me see what has gotten you grinning a few minutes ago." I started to read. This comic was very cute, I could see why she would be squirming around and grinning.
She calmed down and she also started to read, occasionally placing her face on my chest as she let out screams due to the cute scenes while I just laughed. My hand slowly caressed her hair, playing with it as we continued to read.
A low sound of a gurgle could be heard. I looked at the girl in my arms who only smiled at me sheepishly.
"Can we order some food?" She asked me cutely.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"And... done!' She said as she handed me a perfectly-made heart origami. I stared at the heart origami and I felt my heart hurt a little.
"H-Hey." She called me, shyly. "Thank you for... you know."
"It's no big deal."
"Really. It's just... it really hurts to know that someone so dear to you would just, go away like that. You know?" Y/N said as she looked into the distance.
My heart sank. I placed the origami in my pocket before replying,
"It really does."
