Kalyssa

Recap! --- A woman who is obviously my mother walks in. Her eyes fix on me and she is obviously having trouble receiving input from her eyes to her brain. "Kalyssa?" (Sorry if it's a bad recap, I forget.)

I look up from the polished vanity mirror to see a woman with darkish skin, gold eyes, silver hair, and silvery wings walk in. She is obviously my mother, the resemblance is there in the hair and the way she carries herself, as if she is proud of herself but doesn't want to get her hopes up in case she really sucks at what she does. Her hand flies to her heart as she tentatively steps forward and envelops me in a hug and she kisses the top of my head. "Kalyssa, my child, you've grown.." she whispers into my ear. I pull my silver plait over my shoulder so I look like a freaking Katniss Everdeen with wings and step back. "M-mother?" I say. "Father tells me... you're arranging a party for me?" "Yes, and all the people in the land will be there, as well as a few suitors." "Suitors? Flipping suitors? What is this, the Odyssey?" (Greek myth reference. I won't go into an explanation but Odysseus went off into the war, was gone too long, and rich idiots tried to get his wife Penelope to marry them.) "I'm not Penelope! I'm Kalyssa, and I need time to figure all this out before I go looking for dang SUITORS!" Mother shrinks back and has a hurt facial expression. "Fine then. I'll cancel the suitors who would have you swooning in a moment." "I HATE ROMANCE!" I scream at her. "I CAN'T EVEN READ ROMANCE NOVELS WITHOUT PRACTICALLY THROWING UP IN MY MOUTH!" A tear falls down her face and she backs out of the room, slamming the door behind her. The tears come, and I collapse on my bed, pulling my wings around me so Tigris can't see. "I just ruined my relationship with my mother, the queen for god's sake..." I sob into my pillow. How will I ever fix this???
