Ah Ro

"AND I-I-I-I WILL ALWAYS...LOVE YOU!!"

"Oh my God! Will you shut up, hyung?" Jungkook bursted, but a smile was plastered on his face.

Hoseok laughed. "There's nothing better to do and I love that song!"

"Yes, and now the world knows it, too!" Jungkook shot back.

Jin shook his head, keeping his eyes on the road. "You did say your father was okay with us using his van to go camping, right, Jimin?"

"Yes, hyung," Jimin called from the backseat with a chuckle. "Like the other numerous times you asked me."

"I know, I know," Jin said. "Just asking."

"Are we there yet?" Taehyung whined.

"You asked that fifteen minutes ago," said Namjoon.

"So?"

"So the answer is the same as before."

"How was I supposed to know that?"

Namjoon sighed and look at the mirror in the car. He could see Hoseok, who was sitting right next to the impatient boy, make his head lean on his shoulder and whispered something in his ears, probably telling him to take a nap, because Tae nodded and closed his eyes.

Namjoon turned back to his book.

The seat order was Jimin alone in the very back, Hoseok then sitting on the right side in the next row in front of Jimin, Tae in the middle, and Yoongi on the left end. There were two seats in the front on either sides of the van which Jungkook and Min occupied. Jin was driving and Namjoon was in the passenger seat.

Jin reached over and gently rubbed Namjoon's thigh. Namjoon tore his eyes from his book and looked over at his partner, who was staring ahead.

Jin recently developed a habit of absentmindedly touching his thigh in the car. Namjoon didn't pay much attention to the gesture the first few times, but he realized how often Jin really was doing it and that usually his hand would shake when did so.

"Do you want me to drive, Princess?" he asked. "I got my driver's license yesterday so I can if you want."

Jin glanced over at him and realized where his hand was. He pulled it away and rested it back on the wheel, offering a smile.

"No, no. That's okay."

Namjoon had confronted him about the gesture before and they both came to the conclusion that it was most likely because the car accident had traumatized Jin enough to make him paranoid whenever Namjoon or even just someone was in the car while he was driving.

"Touching you just makes me feel better," Jin had confessed that day. "It calms my nerves because I know you're there. I hope you don't feel uncomfortable when I do that."

Namjoon had kissed his temple, knowing that Jin of all people would be considerate of other people's personal space and boundaries.

"No. Of course not."

Remembering that time, he put his hand on the back of Jin's neck and combed his back hairs with his long fingers. Jin visibly relaxed at the touch.

"Let me drive the rest of the way. You get some rest."

Jin nodded and pulled over on the side of the road and unbuckled his seat belt.

"Something wrong?" Hoseok asked.

"We're just switching drivers," said Namjoon.

Everyone got excited like it was the biggest thing in the world.

"Ooh! Namjoon's going to be our limo driver!" Tae said.

"Oh, hush, kids," Jin said. "Just go back to sleep."

Both boys then switched places and the van began to move again. As soon as Jin got comfortable he was out like a light. Then pretty soon everyone was. Well, everyone except for Min.

"How are you doing sis?" Namjoon asked, looking at the car mirror.

She gave a thumbs up and continued to look out of the window.

Nothing but the quiet sound of the radio and the low hum of the car was heard for a good five minutes.

"Do you miss her?" Min asked. "I know you two weren't that close, but. . ."

Namjoon knew exactly what she was talking about. "Yeah. I do."

"Is it because of me?"

He furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

Min sighed. "I mean do you miss her because then you wouldn't have to take care of me?"

"No, Min. I don't miss her because I have no one to help care for you. I'm clever in case you've forgotten. I can figure out ways to care of both you and me. I'm also not that heartless. I miss her because she's my mother."

He could see Min nod in the mirror.

"Those two weeks and a half you were in that coma terrified me. I felt so alone. I felt regretful and I was mad at Jin-oppa. I refused to talk to him for days."

This was news to Namjoon. "You never told me about that."

"I wasn't going to tell you, but I just thought that you should know."

"You're not still mad, are you?"

"No," she said. "We made up the day before you woke up. We had a long talk and I realized you wouldn't want me to be mad at him. It wasn't really his fault and he was already beating himself up over it."

"What did you guys talk about?"

"Well we sat down at his kitchen table and he apologized over and over about the incident and we both cried a lot. He said I had every right to be mad him and if he could he would switch places with you. He also said that loved me and that he did everything he could to protect you."

Namjoon looked over at Jin's sleepy face and softly smiled. He loved the fact that Jin was so good and understanding towards his sister.

"I guess that part really got to me," She continued. "When he told me he loved me it made me realize how bad he actually felt. Everything he said seemed so sincere. It seemed so raw and honest. I really couldn't stay mad at him."

"It's hard to stay mad at someone like Jin," said Namjoon, eyes back on the road. "He really did do everything to protect me. I heard he had two broken ribs and a broken arm when he arrived at the hospital. It was because he threw his body in front of mine to shield me."

"Really? That's—wow—that's really brave. He must care for you a lot then. Yet you still took the biggest blow to the head. Everyone was expecting the worst. They said you were going to be either handicap or have amnesia or both. It was horrible really. Jin didn't know what to do with himself. He was always crying when I saw him."

Namjoon took a breath. He was beginning to feel guilty so he decided to change the subject. "Well how is school going? Are you hanging with Jungkook more now that you transferred?"

"Yeah. In fact every day. But those boys keep coming back—those boys that Kookie-oppa used to hang out with. He told them he wasn't going to be part of their group anymore and they've been bitter to him ever since."

Namjoon pursed his lips. "They haven't done anything to you or him, have they?"

"No."

"Tell me if they ever do. And Min?"

"Yeah?"

"If they ever lay a hand on you I give you full permission to be taken to the principals office for assault."

"Sweet!"

"Sunshine! Trees! Ground!" Taehyung cried, hopping around in delight. "Kookie, come dance around with me! We finished setting up camp! Let's celebrate!"

"Why me?" Jungkook asked. "Why not your boyfriend?"

"Because you're pretty much my age!Well I'm older by a few months but that's not the point and Hobi-hyung is in the bathroom!"

Namjoon sat on a camping chair and picked up a book, trying to tune out the whines of the maknaes.

"Why not Namjoon-hyung? I'll do it if he dances, too."

Just mind your own business, Namjoon thought. Hopefully they'll
ignore me.

"Fine. Namjoon-hyung, can you—"

"No," he quickly responded, rereading the sentence in his book.

"But—"

"No."

"Please?"

"No."

"Why not?"

Namjoon sighed and looked up at Tae's pouty face. "Because I can't dance."

"That's nonsense!" Tae said. "This isn't Dancing With The Stars! I just want you guys to dance with me!"

"Come on, hyung," Jungkook told him. "You have to be better than my uncle. He can't dance to save his life."

"Neither can I."

"Please?"

Namjoon groaned at the younger's plead. For a moment Tae looked like Min when she would always pout, begging Namjoon to play with her when she was little, but he rarely gave in, and he felt like if he were to refuse him, it would feel like losing valuable time with her all over again.

"Fine."

He stood up and Taehyung hurriedly ran over to turn on the speaker he brought with him.

As BIG BANG's Fantastic Baby echoed throughout the woods, Namjoon rolled his shoulders back and eyed the two younger boys.

They were already getting their groove on, lost in their own moves. And they were good, too.

He listened to the music and let his body take control. He wiggled his legs and failed his arms, naturally grimacing with every move. He hadn't danced in a while and he hated to admit it but it felt pretty good. It was fun, even. His body moved without him thinking. It was a relief.

And then the music stopped.

He halted a second after and turned to the speaker.

Taehyung was by the device, covering his mouth, biting back a fit of giggles at war to let loose, and Jungkook was giving Namjoon an amused look.

"Remember when I said you had to be better than my uncle?" Jungkook scrunched up his nose. "Well you guys are about the same."

Taehyung then barked with laughter.

Namjoon rolled his eyes. "I told you."

"I heard music! I want to dance, too!" Jimin came running back from the bathroom, smiling.

Jungkook shrugged and turned on the speaker again, since Tae was busy re-learning how to breathe, playing Married To The Music by SHINee.

Jimin didn't waste time dancing. He was in sync with the music, hitting every beat on point, his transitions graceful and light. Jungkook and Taehyung and Namjoon watched in awe as Jimin shuffled his feet in a way that made him look as if he was going to dislocate his ankles.

"Damn," Jungkook said in English.

"I know," Tae said, his laughter long faded into the air. "You go, girl!"

Jimin stopped at their commentary and blushed madly. "Oh come on, guys. Don't be like that."

"But you got mad moves, bro!" Jungkook complimented.

Namjoon merely smiled.

"Okay, kids!" Jin called as he approached the group with Hoseok and Yoongi. "Let's get ready for bed. It's getting late. Remember, you guys have to share tents so Tae Tae and Hobi in one, Yoongi and Kookie in one, Min and Chim Chim in another, and then me and Dimples in another."

While everyone was calling Jin out for having a nickname for almost every person, Namjoon was smiling to himself. He was satisfied with the arrangement, mostly because he didn't want Min and Jungkook trying anything on each other. He lead them to believe that the only reason they were separated was because it would be awkward for Yoongi and Jimin to sleep together.

"But I'm not tired!" whined Tae.

Everyone groaned, but Hoseok laughed.

That night was different.

Namjoon lied awake in his sleeping bag, thinking about Min's words. To be mad at Jin she had to have cared about Namjoon, and while holding a grudge against his partner saddened him, he was glad that she didn't hate him as much as she thought she did.

Jin's breath hitched next to him.

Namjoon guessed it was around midnight. He looked over to see beads of sweat coming down Jin's forehead. Any moment he would start screaming from another nightmare. So all Namjoon did was wait for it to happen.

But it never did.

Instead Jin's eyes shot open, his breaths laboring.

Namjoon furrowed his eyebrows. "Princess?"

Jin looked over at him, but he didn't say anything. Namjoon could tell he was panicking from the wild look in his eyes. The perspiration on his skin glued his bangs to his face.

Namjoon was beginning to conclude what this was. He looked over and found Jin's fingers twitching and stretching.

"Sleep paralysis," he whispered.

He remembered reading about this. Sleep paralysis is when someone is in the limbo between consciousness and unconsciousness, but they are paralyzed yet aware of their surroundings. Vivid hallucinations, often that of an evil presence was nothing abnormal during this time.

Biting his lip and sitting up, he gently lifted Jin's stiff right arm and put his hand to his cheek.

"Princess, hey, wake up," he said quietly, rubbing Jin's stomach with his other hand. "Come on, babe. Get up."

A gasp came from his elder's lips. His eyes shot up at the roof of the tent as he rested his free arm across his chest, breathing heavily.

Namjoon waited patiently for him to gain control.

Once he gathered himself the first time he glanced at Namjoon he burst into tears.

Namjoon stretched out his arms to him, knowing he'd need reassurance after a bad dream. Jin sat up and crumbled in his embrace, trembling with every sob. Namjoon held him there, whispering soothing words until Jin finally, finally calmed down.

"N-Namjoon, it was awful. I couldn't move."

"It's called sleep paralysis. You can't move and you have bad hallucinations."

He buried his nose deeper into the crook of Namjoon's neck. They sat in silence for a while longer until Namjoon's back grew stiff and he carefully laid back down while Jin was still in his arms.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

He heard a deep sigh from his partner.

"You're not talking about the dream, are you?"

Jin never told anyone the entire story of that day in the alley. Namjoon never pushed him, but he always made sure to leave the option of having someone to talk to open. He wasn't very good at comfort, but he was a good listener.

"You don't have to."

"No. It's okay. I think it's time I tell you. I'm ready."

"Go ahead," he said.

"Okay...Well I had just finished texting Jimin when I met a familiar face on the street. She was an old friend from high school, Ah Ro, a-and she said she missed me and she wanted to talk for a while. We, um, went into this coffee shop and we sat down. I had only meant to stay there for a few minutes and then I'd continue on my way, but..."

"But?"

"I lost track of time. A-And I realized how late it was so I told her I had to go and continued on my way after I said good bye. And I went down the alley, but I spotted these three American girls who were smoking. I had tried to walk passed them, but one girl stopped me and asked if...." Jin swallowed moving his body closer to Namjoon.

"You're tired," Namjoon said. "You don't have to tell me now."

"No. I need to do this." He took a shaky breath before he continued. "She asked for money in Korean and in return she would get inside my pants, but I politely declined. I didn't notice that one of them was behind me and she struck me in the back of my head with a beer bottle. Then it went dark. I don't know what they did to me while I was out, but when I woke up she was on top of me while her friends were holding me down and..." Jin didn't finish and he didn't have to.

Namjoon rested his lips on the top of Jin's head and held him closer if that was possible.

"I saw her again—on top of me, with black pits in her eyes while I was paralyzed."

"It's okay," said Namjoon. "You can sleep now. I'll protect you."

"I know you will."
