There was a lonely mermaid swimming in the ocean. Her  name was Anitha. No one wanted to be friends with her except  one girl named Mary. She was kind to Anitha. When someone was being mean to Anitha, Mary protected Anitha.

Anitha was in her room swimming about. She heard a knock on the door.

"Come in,"  Anitha said.

It was Mary.

"Hello Anitha, I just wanted to see what you were doing." Mary exclaimed.

"I'm just thinking about  how people live up there, on land" 

"Oh, sometimes people up there hunt us." Mary whispered to Anitha.

I closed the book. I nibbled on a chip. I got up from the couch and walked into the kitchen.

"Vanessa? Can you please get Ashley? I have to talk to her." Mom said.

"OK"

Is Ashley going to be in trouble?

I walked upstairs and knocked on Ashley's door.

"Ashley! Mom wants you!" I called.

"I'll be there in a minute." Ashley called back.

I walked down the hall into my room. I sat down on my bean bag chair and took out my phone. I  started to listen to some music. I was listening to music for about 5 minutes when Ashley opened my door.

"Come on." Ashley said.

"Where?" I asked, confused.

"Come on." Ashley repeated.

So I got up from my bean bag chair and followed Ashley. Ashley walked outside and then got into her car. I got into her car.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

Ashley didn't answer, she just started the car. She drove out of our drive way and onto the road.

I sighed.

"Ashley? Can you please tell me where are we going?" I asked calmly.

"You'll see." She said, keeping her eyes on the road.
