5 | Of Ice And Fire

][ Previously: Ryo teamed up with The League of Villains, though their allyship isn't the strongest. Mob almost fought Mirio over the senior student beating up his whole class. Luckily, Aizawa was there to stop him and explain. ][

"FIGHT ON! FIGHT ON! FIGHT ON!" Mob's phone chanted ahead of him. A blue aura surrounded the floating object. On the screen was a view of the body building team, from behind like always. It took a while for everyone involved to figure out how video chats worked, but once it was all settled, it was back to group jogging like before. Only now, Mob was using his powers to create some resemblance of actually being there.

It had been a week now. He was getting settled in more and more every day. Izuku was the closest to a friend he had here. He was still getting used to everyone else. Because of that he didn't really have the confidence to ask anyone to jog with him in case he faints.

Mob's breathing rasped, his lungs heaving. Every muscle of his was burning; every joint ready to give out. He was so close. He could see the dorms, where he could take a break. He..just...had to...

He fell lifeless on the trail, sprawled out like some dead animal. The sunburnt concrete baked his unconscious body under the intense summer heat. Usually, he had someone else to pick him up and carry him into a cool building...

The back door to the dorms slammed in the distance. A little figure grew over time as it crossed the grass to reach Mob. His shadow cast some shade over the fallen boy. "...You really are pathetic, aren't you?" Bakugo picked up the younger, scrawny one with relative ease and carried him to the dorms on his back. When he arrived, he plopped the fainted one onto the couch.

"What happened to him?" Shoto asked casually as he slid on his shoes by the door. He approached the two slowly, already prepared for the after school courses him and Bakugo had to take now. No one else was here thanks to their internships.

"He fainted, duh!!" Bakugo scoffed. He then stomped into the kitchen to grab a cup of water. As he did that, frost grew over Shoto's hand and he touched it to Mob's sweat ridden forehead.

"We might have to stay a little while longer to make sure he's okay." Icyhot suggested.

"No way am I waiting for this brat to wake up!" Katsuki angrily set the cup down so that it splashed everywhere and stomped toward the door to change his shoes. "Can't risk getting a tardy."

"You've already gotten two. What's one more?"

"I had to go to the bathroom, okay?! This is different! Who knows how long it'll take him to wake up!" Spouting this, the angry one plopped his angry bum into the sofa nearby to have his little tantrum in.

Shoto didn't speak for a while. He materialized a few other ice crystals and placed them on Mob's body to hopefully help him cool down faster. Bakugo tapped his heal against the floor all the while. Eventually, Shoto sighed in an annoyed kind of way and turned his head toward the cross-armed angry man.

"You know, the longer I am around you the more I am reminded of my old man." He admitted with a scowl.

"Don't you DARE compare me to that d### b######!!"

"You probably just hate him because he's so much like you. A picture of what you'll become if you keep acting this way."

"WHAT!? I'LL KILL YOU FOR THAT!!" That comment ticked him off more than any other he could remember. In a moment, Bakugo tackled Shoto beside the couch and pinned him to the ground. Ice spat from Shoto's hand, freezing one of Bakugo's in place. The two tussled uselessly, neither trying to cause enough damage the dorms and hurt Shigeo.

After Bakugo had successfully pulled his fist from the ice using a few small explosions, he grabbed the other's face. Shoto shoved the blond off of him. Bakugo fell back over the coffee table, landing on his head. Icyhot stood on his feet and created a short wall of ice, which the other simply blasted through. Bakugo grabbed Shoto and the two went flying over the couch Mob was laying on, tumbling and rolling over the wood floor. Bakugo had Shoto pinned to the floor again.

"I beat you in the Sports Festival and I'll beat you right here!!"

Glaring firefly into the eyes of his opponent this time, Shoto's left side caught ablaze.

But then the two were pulled apart from one another by an outside force. Their heads turned to who the source of it might be. Shigeo stood on the other side of the couch from them, his hand stretched outward.

"BLAST YOU, SHORTY, I NEARLY HAD HIM!!" Bakugo flailed and screamed mid air.

"Calm down, you two." Shigeo's voice was soft yet stern. He was still feeling a little dizzy in the head but pushed through. "How did this fight break out anyway?"

"THIS LITTLE B#### SAID I WAS JUST LIKE HIS DAD!!" Bakugo flailed.

"I meant what I said." Shoto retorted from the floor.

"SHUT UP!! I'll be infinitely better than him when I grow up, you hear me?!" The spiky haired teen snarled lika a rabid animal. Shoto rolled his eyes.

"You say that while actively following in his every footstep. Who knows? You may even end up with a son just like me."

"I SAID SHUT UP!!" Mob pulled the two further apart just to be safe. "LISTEN, IF I EVER BECOME A DAD, I WON'T MARRY JUST FOR QUIRKS! I WON'T FORCE MY WIFE TO HAVE KIDS AND I WON'T ABUSE MY F###### CHILDREN!!! WHAT KIND OF AN ANIMAL DO YOU THINK I AM TO DO ALL THAT?!?" Shoto's eyes widened a little bit. "..Yeah that's right!! I heard what you told Deku a while back; all of it! And if you seriously think I'm just like him then you don't know me at all!! I want to be a hero after all! Not some terrible monster!! And I'll fight my way to the number one spot not with others' blood on my hands, BUT MY VERY OWN!!!" Bakugo panted after all that, swiping away a single tear that had accumulated under his eye. Shoto's dual colored irises shook, his body stiff on the floor.

The two stared at one another, a silent match that didn't appear to be ending any time soon. Since they seemed to have calmed, Mob gently put Bakugo back down. The teen caught his footing quickly but wavered once the support of Mob's quirk had lifted. Shoto too was released.

After another tense moment had passed, Bakugo cleared his throat and walked up to the other. Shigeo prepared in case it was just another attack, but then-

Bakugo reached his hand out to Shoto, a stern but non-hostile look on his face. "Come on... We're going to be late." The other hesitated for a moment. He still had so many questions. Did this guy really know everything??  ...Poor Shigeo now knew too...

Shoto's eyes dropped to the hard wood floor, exhaling a cloud of mist. The frost melted and lingering flames snuffed out. He reached up and grabbed Bakugo's hand, who in turned help pull him up.

"Sorry for the scare." Shoto apologized to Mob as he brushed his uniform off.

"It's okay. How did I get here, though?"

"That would be Bakugo The Softie."

"DON'T YOU START CALLING ME A SOFTIE!!"

Shoto rolled his eyes and headed toward the door, Bakugo angrily following after.

     "WALK BEHIND ME, ICYHOT!"

     "How about no?"

"What!?! Oh so NOW you're gunna be a smart###, huh?! Just because I won't be a terrible hero doesn't mean I won't kick your ###!!"

The two left through the front doors of the dorm to their extra classes. Mob didn't really have anything other than bodybuilding after school, which he was currently recovering from. The young one spun slowly to take in the mess the two had made, deciding to clean it up since the ones who made it were gone now. But, for now while he was still recovering, he sat.

...Ooh! A cup of water. How nice.

---------

Since Mob finished his homework early, he decided to go on a little one-man tour of the outdoors part of campus. The weather was so nice and he sort of missed the walks to and from Master Reigen's office.

The sun was beginning to set on his way back to the dorms. A calming breeze messed with the young teen's hair. It was so peaceful here. So beautiful.

"Why hello, young Kageyama!" All Might rushed Mob's way in his recognizable muscle form. "Lovely day, isn't i-t..?" Mid stride he entered twig mode, spouting blood from his mouth as he fell to the floor.

"A-All Might!?" Mob stepped back in shock.

"Don't worry... I'm alright..." Small Might wheezed, pushing himself to his feet. "So anywho, since Midoriya isn't here I thought I'd mentor you a little bit...if you need the help, that is." He said while rubbing the back of his scruffy hair.

"Wait, what does Midoriya being gone have to do with you mentoring me?"

"N-N-NOTHING!" The tall one frantically waved his hands in front of him. Then he chuckled awkwardly. "So anywho, I noticed a couple days ago during practice that you have a very..different fighting style."

     "What fighting style?"

"Th-th-that's what I mean! You just let your powers do all the work and stand back. N-not saying you shouldn't use your quirk or anything. What I'm suggesting is that you throw a few fighting moves in there as well! Make it flashy; whapaw!!" He punctuated by punching at the air.  Mob rubbed his chin as he thought over this.

     "...Why though?"

With a goofy smile, "To be honest, mostly because I think it would look cooler. But there are other reasons, too! Like feeling more in control of what your powers do a-and learning how to dodge blows! You have pretty cool defensive abilities, but what if for whatever reason you can't use them?? In that case it'd be pretty useful to learn how to dodge or block blows, right??"

"Yeah.. I guess I get what you mean..." Mob thought it over for a little bit while staring at the ground. He remembered back to times when he was mocked for having such weak punches, or were brutally beaten up. Sure, he was pretty quick to regenerate, but those beat-downs hurt regardless. Maybe it would be good for him to learn self defense at the very least to avoid unnecessary injuries. "Sure. I guess I wouldn't mind learning some self defense."

"Good, because lucky for you, I am the king of punches!!" All Might gloated while striking a pose. It was hard to take that comment seriously while he was still in his skinny form.

On the way back, All Might showed Shigeo the basics about how to throw a proper punch. How he should best form a firm fist, how most of the power in a punch should come from rotating his hips, and how he should always try to imagine his fist going through an object instead of just touching it for maximum success. By the time they arrived, Mob was already showing progress.

"Yeah, and then later I can teach you how to block and dive out of the way of blows!"

"Haha, that sounds pretty cool... Thank you, All Might." He was actually kind of enjoying the retired hero's mentorship. It felt a lot more hands on than Reigen's, and the guy was clearly filled with passion. He didn't know one could gain such enjoyment from something like fighting. Merely being around the man inspired him to try out all these moves he'd seen on TV too! It sure would make him look much cooler if he could do something like a backflip. Maybe he could even show off such moves to Tsubomi-

Mob stopped right in front of the door before he could enter.

"What's wrong, Kageyama?" All Might stood towering over him, holding the door open for the student.

"I just..." He stared down, trying his best to shove away the terrible, aching feeling in his chest. "...miss my family and friends back at home is all." All Might waited a moment before sighing.

"Yeah... I get that. You have to give up a lot in order to do what's right." He then placed his hand on the boy's shoulder. "But hey, it gets better, alright?" Mob nodded weakly. "Now you go inside and hit the hay. Heh, I envy you teenagers and your ability to stay up so late..."

     "Bye.."

     "Seeya."

Mob entered through the door, almost immediately running into Izuku after the door was closed behind him. The greenette had the biggest smile plastered over his face!

"You got to talk 1-on-1 with All Might?!" He squee'd.

Mob chuckled. "Yeah, he taught me a little about punching on the way back to the dorms."

":DDD" He...never got tired of his favorite hero, did he?

----------

That night for dinner, Mob's mom sent Shigeo a recipe of his favorite dinner along with all the ingredients in the mail. He stayed on call with her so she could better instruct him. She made the same thing on her end.

When he was done, Mob was excited to dig into a fine meal.

"Mmm, something smells good! Uraraka entered the kitchen as Mob was finishing up. He almost dropped his phone into the pot of sauce.

"Oh! Yeah, my mom's helping me make my favorite dinner. I...accidentally made a little too much. Want to share?" The girl was hit with a million inner conflicts.

     "You sure??"

     "Definitely."

"Mmm, okay. Wait, are you talking to your mom on the phone??"

"Yep!" The brown haired girl bound up to the floating phone and waved at the screen.

"Hello, Mob mom!" She smiled widely.

"Why hello!" His mom politely waved back. "Shigeo, you never mentioned any of your classmates to me. Who's this??"

"This is Uraraka. She's a foreign student too."

"Oh! That reminds me! I was just about to get on a call with my parents!.. Wish I could see their faces like you can on your phone, though.." She pulled out her cheap flip phone.

"..What's their phone number? Maybe I can add them to the call? Then we can all have dinner together?"

"Wait, you'd actually do that??!" Mob nodded. "You're so kind!!" She tackled him with a brief side hug. So, her parents were added to the group call along with Shigeo's parents and brother. It was a little chaotic at first as everyone on the other end had no idea what was going on or who the strangers were, but things were sorted out and settled by the time the two sat down for dinner. Both Uraraka and Shigeo sat side by side, Mob's phone across from them. There was still plenty of extra food, so Tsuyu, Mina, and Tokoyami ended up joining them at the table. All-in-all, it was a very pleasant afternoon for Mob. For the first time since arriving, he actually felt as though he belonged.

~ The Next Day ~

"Ugh, the new office is looking a little bland, don't you think? Say, can you grow plants like Mob?"

     "I don't think so; no."

"Hm. Looks like we're just going to have to settle on this for now."

" 'Spirits and Such Consultation Office' "

Reigen sat at his old desk in the new room. The place was about the same size as his old one. A little more expensive, but that was worth it in the end for being as close to UA as it was. This new office was on the first floor as well, meaning his new customers wouldn't have to walk up a shady staircase just to enter. Reigen sat at his old computer, expertly exorcising a ghost from a picture for his first customer.

"Aaand, there! Just in time!" He chuckled and printed the fixed image out. "Our first customer should be back any second now." He smiled slyly. The door to his office opened immediately after.

"Woah, Reigen, you predicted her timing perfectly!" Serizawa was amazed, immediately stopping in the middle of sweeping to stand at attention. The said first customer had medium length dark brown hair, which faded to hot pink at the tips. She wore a fancy black leather jacket overtop a gray, lazy hoodie, and fitting black pants. Despite looking so oddly stylish, the woman entered so casually and nonchalantly, mannerisms not drawing any attention to herself whatsoever.

"Ah! Our first customer!! Here is the exorcised image!" The man so bombastically thrust his hand with the paper in it her way, bowing ever so subtly. "Since you are the first, I'd like to offer you this chance of a lifetime coupon that will guarantee half of your next visit completely free!..should you be bothered again, that is." With the flick of his fingers a coupon emerged right next to the fixed image.

The woman had no expression of gratitude. In fact, she had no expression whatsoever! She snatched the image and coupon from his hand and studied the image silently.

"Sit down with me." She casually ordered. Her stare was so intense, Reigen wondered if this first customer was going to be his first Karen here too!

"Mind if I go to the restroom, sir?" Serizawa asked nervously.

"Sure... Go ahead..." Reigen's forehead started collecting sweat. He stiffly sat at his chair, the woman leaning back in her chair across from him with her legs crossed. The door clicked behind Serizawa, his only moral support.

"Hmm, pretty good editing, I'll admit." She observed.

"Hold up! That image is the real deal! I-I-I didn't-" the woman pulled out another image exactly like it from one of her many jacket pockets. Only difference was that there was a little chalk picture of a smiley face on the wall where the picture of a ghost was supposed to be.

"I added the ghost myself. Drew that smiley face on the actual wall just to be sure." She then flicked the pair of sunglasses resting on her head down to cover her eyes just so that she could then pull them down the bridge of her nose and judgingly stare at him all serious-like. "You just pulled the same cheap tricks every other 'psychic' pulls. Honestly not surprised. You even look more fake than all the others I've ran out of this town." Ending with a smirk.

Reigen gasped. "Who ARE you?! And-and what gives you the authority to threaten my business?!"

The woman grinned, leaning her head back and pushing the sunglasses over her eyes. "The name's Elyse Yamashi. I'm the local hero of this district."

|||Elyse Yamashi
|||Hero name: Queller
|||Quirk: "hasten" She can change the speed of time around her or slow it down. Only downside is that if she changes too abruptly it'll give her a terrible headache!

     ">:0" Reigen.

"And don't think your little mind games are going ta' work on me. Before I was a Hero, I was a private investigator, and before that I was the highschool lie detector. Nothing gets past me... While I do admire the hustle...this is my terf and these are my people. And I'm not just going to let some con artist take advantage of the ignorant. ...Ya hear me, hun..?" Reigen swallowed. He couldn't think of anything to retort back with. For the first time he was stumped.

Getting no response, Elyse stood up, placed a tip of exactly ¥500 on the counter, and turned around with her hands in her pockets.

"Better remember to pay your taxes, Mr... Because I'll be taking advantage of any mistake I can to run your little con shop into the ground.... Welcome to the neighborhood~" As she waved, standing at the door, Serizawa opened it and gasped.

"Apologies, ma'am!" She just pat his shoulder and passed him by without a word.

The actual Esper scurried further into the room and stood at attention beside his boss. "What did I miss..?" He whispered after the woman left.

     "...Serizawa, please slap me."

     "What?! Why!?"

"Am I just seeing things or is that little demon the most beautiful woman I've seen in my life..?"

"Wow, you really are seeing things! I- I'll break the curse, sir!"

Whap!

"OWW! I didn't mean literally slap me!!"

     "S-SORRY, SIR!"

This is how I imagine Elyse without the anime style. (Just imagine the dye in hair lol)
