28 | Average Day On The Job
][ Previously: Elyse is Zeya's aunt btw. Turns out evil lady and saw Nomu are siblings. Were. Denji died tragically. Then his Nomu corpse was killed by Elyse. Yeah, Elyse somehow survived almost dying and now Zeya is finally freeeeeeeee~! ][
"Don't listen to them!"
"Don't listen to them!"
"He's just trying to manipulate you!"
"They don't actually care about you! They're already using you! Would a true friend force you to do things you were uncomfortable with?!"
"They're just a bunch of no good heroes!"
"No we're not! We're vigilantes who make it our job to help people, no matter who they are!"
"LIAR!"
"You don't HAVE to be a villain!"
"LIAR!"
"You can have friends AND live a normal life! You don't have to choose just one!"
"LIAR!"
Twice clutched his head, back curling, a look of anguish staring at the ground as his whole body shook. "Please...." He whispered. "..Would you guys just stop--yelling?!" Dark goop sprung out in all directions from the black and gray villain, encompassing his whole body for half a second.
Two Twices dashed out of the goop -- receding into each of them -- running in opposite directions. One joined with The League and the other with Reigen and Serizawa. The two stared across the room at one another .. wondering which of them would regret their decision...
No one knew which was the original Twice. Even the villain himself couldn't tell.

For those who haven't seen the "(Chat Corner)" which is where I typically share images like this:

"What are you doing here?" Reigen looked up from the desk, speaking with the flattest, most done tone he'd used in a while.
Behind the customer's chair stood an awkwardly grinning Zeya, holding her hands together behind her back. He vaguely recognized her from the ambulance ride...but why was she here?
"I was wondering if I could get a job?-"
"-No."
"The ####?!"
"Listen.. This job requires a very specific set of skills.." Picking up a pile of papers and stackifying them on his desk, the man hardly batted an eye at her. "This is a very dangerous job. .. I can't afford to put any young grade level students at risk."
"But what if I told you I got the skills to pay the bills~?"
"I highly doubt that. You look like the secret love child of a florist and a tattoo artist." Zeya scoffed at the man's tired/rude insult. "Who the hell are you anyways?.."
"Reigen Arataka, was it?"
"Yeah?"
"A third generation immigrant. First name taken after your grandfather...who owned a struggling coffee shop because this is Japan; we drink tea." Reigen raised his brow... Where the heck was this girl going with this? And where were her sources?? "And since your grandfather on the other side of the family was a terrible man, your middle name was taken after your grandmother instead. ... Isn't that right, Trudy~?"
"He-hey! Wh-wh-what are you trying to do? Dox me?!" Reigen jumped from his chair quickly, hands planted on his desk as anger began to flair up inside. The puzzled Jin/Twice, who now wore a brown striped suit and eye patch over his right eye and sported black dyed hair stood beside the concerned Serizawa. Both men side eyed each other, wondering if they should get involved or not.
Zeya smirked now, the hands behind her back no longer a sigh of nervousness, but rather of superiority. "Reigen Trudy Arataka... A pleasure to meet you." The teen bowed elegantly with one hand crossing her chest. Looking up, "Hi, I'm God."
Reigen snickered in the back of his throat. "Alright... Who set you up for this?" The man hid his deep seeded worry impressively well. Much of the information shared were all family stories. Stories which, to his knowledge at least, had never been leaked to the internet or anyone else aside from family or close friends.
So the fact that this random teenager knew all of this..was...worrying.
Zeya saw right through this, his dead giveaway being the excessive amount of sweat collecting on his forehead despite the cool office temperature. She reeled her head up and a bellowed a laugh. "Pfffaaa! Oh, don't get your testies in a knot!! I only used what information you were willing to give me!"
"Huh?!" Reigen's eyes widened a little. Was she really an Esper? Perhaps a Telepath? Even if it were so... old family tales were the last thing on his mind, so this went far beyond mind reading.
"Allow me to explain before you perform a citizen's arrest." Stepping back and raising her hands defensively, Zeya snickered at her own careless attitude. "My quirk allows me to reverse time, essentially. All I did was stand here talking to you about random things, asking random questions, and taking note of any bizarre fun facts I came across. I reversed time anytime the conversation hit a dead end or I agitated you enough that you demand I leave. Then, I simply rewound time one last time and told it like I knew it all along. Pretty simple.. but super effective."
Sitting back down, Reigen scratched his chin as he thought it over. Dang, this girl has to be pretty good at conversation to get that kind of info out of him...
"On top of that, I also used to trick people into thinking I was a psychic for spare change, so I already have my fair share of experience when it comes to handling customers~" Her hands met in front of her, doing the evil finger twiddling thing. "So, what do you think? My application good enough for your little business?"
Reigen actually sat back and thought about it this time.
...
"No, I've already got enough employees."
"Oh come on!"
"Sorry, but I've just recently hired Jin here. And I don't really feel like doing that kind of paperwork twice in one week." A cup of tea floated onto his desk. The man grabbed it absently. "Thanks, Serizawa."
"I- I can help you with that!"
"No way, that crap's boring!" The previous blond, now black haired man both brought up and shot down his own proposal.
Reigen took a careful sip of his still steaming tea. He lifted his free hand to stop Jin/Twice. "That won't be necessary. Because I'm not in the market to hire."
"--I'm Elyse's niece." o_o
"PFFFF!!! WHAT?"
"Yeah, sorry, I wanted to see if I could get the job before telling you... Elyse sent me here since I kept bugging her at the hospital. So you're my uncle then, right?"
The dirty blond man's face flushed red, eyes darting between the other two in the room. "N-n-noo! We're just dating!"
Starting to dance, "Ohh, we're half-way there, oo-oh, living on a pra-yer, take my hand--"
"Shut up."
"You're no fun." Jin snickered from the sidelines. Serizawa watched with little amusement.
"Well.." Having a look at his calendar, "I've got a job coming up soon. As long as you behave, I'll let you tag along."
"Yesss!"
'It would be better than risking her robbing the place while we're all gone...'
The business man snapped a quick pic of the silver haired girl and sent it to Elyse.

This gremlin child yours?
Elysia:
Yeahhhhh...
Sorry. I have another surgery coming up and she wasn't leaving me alone.
Mind watching her for a bit?
Oreigeno:
👍
Sliding his phone away, Reigen sighed, standing to prepare both himself and his employees for the job ahead.
----------
"This reminds me of that one time we visited the Ebogomi Resort." Serizawa spoke up since their train car was so unnaturally quiet. Outside the wall of windows was a dark green forest speeding by. The train car vibrated, occasionally skipping a beat.
"Please don't remind me of that..." Sunken in his chair, the blond groaned, unpleasant memories flooding his head. Crap.. now he was paying for all those near-sleepless nights on that d### hospital couch. That being trapped in another world on a train better not happen again.
"What? What happened?" Sitting at his left beside the window, Zeya turned to the boss and asked. Reigen huffed, blinking tiredly, refusing to explain.
"It was a job sort of like this..." As Serizawa, who sat across from the girl, told the story from his point of view, Reigen fought the urge to shut his eyes and Jin stared down at his hands blankly.
After Serizawa had finished, Zeya's mouth opened into a smile. "Woooah! Sounds like some dope domain action right there!"
"Domain?" The brunette pressed, a brow raised.
"It's-.. more of a back alley term. I don't know what it really means."
"Oh.." Both turned to stare out their respective windows.
Slapping Reigen beside her, "Look alive, man! You said we'd be there any minute now, didn't you?!"
"Aoh!.. Someone's excited..." Shrugging off the pain in his arm, Reigen sat up a little more and looked around some. Zeya's knee bounced rapidly, unable to keep her eyes on one thing for very long. As the two started to argue back and forth about when Reigen said they would arrive, Serizawa turned his head to Jin, who remained unmoving beside him. The man stared down at his own hands, rubbing his course skin and callouses against each other, appearing deep in thought.
"...Anything wrong?" The brunette mumbled.
"Hhh... No. I.. I don't really know... Well, actually I kind of do.- ..While I'm grateful to you guys for offering me a second chance and helping me keep a low profile... I kinda miss my friends is what I'm getting at, I guess. .. They aren't like your buddies back at Claw. I actually felt close to them... Like I belonged. And I just feel so..so selfish now for leaving them like I did, even if technically I'm still with them. .. Or not... Heh. Who knows which one of us is the real one. ... I guess, what I'm trying to say is that I just feel like a passenger being pulled along here... I don't know what I'm actually doing, or what I even want anymore..."
Understanding plain through his gentle features, Serizawa placed his hand on Jin's arm and rubbed it a couple times with his thumb. "...I've been there... And it'll take a while for that feeling to fade, but.. as time goes on, and you keep putting yourself out there, you'll start to feel better."
Jin slowly tugged his arm back until Serizawa released it. "Yeah.. I hope you're right... It would be pointless to give up now anyways.
..This is an experiment after all...
To see which life suits me more in the end."
----------
"Alright, everyone be polite. This may just be a reoccurring customer!" Leading the pack of misfits up to a plucky but also somehow grand building carved into the side of a rocky hill, Reigen himself wiped any wrinkles out of his suit.
"Why tho?"
"Hhhh.. Were you not listening??.. Because this place is a museum for haunted and or cursed objects."
":O ... No wonder the place looks like s###!"
"Shpshpshhh! Don't talk like that in front of the clients, okay??" Elyse mockingly mumbled what he said under her breath, posture stooping, hands digging into her black pant pockets. And with her shirt being nothing but a crimson red tank top -- arm tattoos showing -- she by far stood out the most among the three well dressed men. The dirty blond rolled his eyes. "Be on alert, everyone. Who knows what could be lurking inside this place.."
Reigen knocked on one of the the tall but skinny front doors for good measure. Since the place was closed, no one was allowed to just walts inside. As Reigen waited, he pulled out his phone to call the client. Before the other end even picked up, however, the door opened on its own.
Creeeee...
There was an echo, but that was the only indicator to the size of the room beyond, since there was nothing but pitch black darkness beyond. The tall doors let in a thin shard of light, which illuminated nothing but waxed hardwood floor. Everyone took a step forward, standing in the doorway.
A light suddenly flicked on. But not just any light. A spot light, shining down on the very top of a stairway directly ahead of them. Under the bright white light, a silhouette of a man, wearing a fancy tux from the 18-hundreds. The man's gloves hand rose to pinch the edge of his top hat. Then he spun around, bowing flamboyantly to the crew.
"Welcome, one and all!" The middle aged man had black hair, a thin, classy moustache adorning his face. "To the Curses And Such Museum!!" He started his frolic down the stairs, spotlight turning on to light his path. The visitors stood bewildered as he reached them. Thean bowed lowly. "The name's Dellie Parks~ You're Reigen Arataka of the Spirits And Such Consultation Office, correct?"
"Yes-yes I am! And what seems to be the problem here?"
"First!!" The rest of the lights turned on the moment the man stood straight, revealing a large, two story room made almost completely with beautifully polished wood. Lofts all around, which the stairs led to, held just as many exhibits as the floor below. Off in a corner to the right was a little gift shop as well. "..I'll need each of you to sign one of these~" He quickly passed out a pen and paper to each of them, tossing the rest of them on the floor for now. "It's a waver to prove you came here by your own free will and any and all injuries you may receive were not caused by any mishaps of my business." Pushing Reigen's paper closer to him.
"Score! We could get hurt?!" Zeya started to scribble onto the paper right away.
"A! Ayy! You're only shadowing us today! You will not sign that waver!" Reigen barked over his shoulder at her.
"Too late." Zeya grinned, showing the man her despicable handwriting on the sheet of paper...not even where she was supposed to sign. "I'm not even gunna use my quirk~" Reigen rubbed his face. He switched his attention quickly back to their client.
"So! You said you wanted to speak with me in person about the payment? Well, lucky for you, I brought a sheet featuring our starter plans with me today!.. Would you like our-"
"-I'll take the cheapest one." Ignoring the paper Reigen had pulled out, the man smiled at Reigen, eyes narrowing.
"Only a 75% spirit removal guarantee? You sure that would work best for your case~?" Looking up, Reigen's eyes too narrowed.
"I would prefer you guys simply catch it anyways. That way I can find a way to incorporate it into another one of my exhibits."
"But what about our trip here and back? You'll be required to cover those expenses as well.."
"You are free to take whatever you wish from my gift shop.."
Reigen exhaled loudly. Looks like this Dellie guy wasn't as gullible as most. Rather, it looked like he was aiming to take advantage of their services instead. Reigen was caught in a corner, however, because he'd already paid for the train tickets here and back. D#####!... At least, by taking the job and throwing a little salt around or whatever, he'd be able to pay off his employees, saving just a little extra for himself. And then he could potentially resell whatever he took from the gift shop for extra cash. Hhh, it wasn't the best possible outcome, but it would have to do.
"Alright!" Folding the paper up and sliding it back into his pocket. "How about you show us the haunting? It was a train exhibit, right?"
"Oh, but not just any train~ Noohhh! The Mugen Train!" Bending his knees and spreading out his arms as he took a careful step back, Dellie warned all of them with a faint but noticable smile.
"The what?" Serizawa.
"Mugen wha?" Jin.
":O" Zeya.
"Wait, THE Mugen Train?!?" Reigen.
"The one and only!.. Follow me!!" The Museum owner led the crew of mixed reactions across the room to another set of large doors. Reigen was showing a little worry already. Zeya was excited. Serizawa and Jin were just confused.
"Um.. Reigen? What is the Mooger train?"
Sweating, Reigen spun on his heels, walking backwards as he explained to the other men. "Only the creepiest, most illusive train of its time... Half a dozen people went missing on there without a trace, and one day all of its passengers fell asleep at once, followed by its terrible crash! To this day, no one even knows how it could have crashed! It was like the train was taken over by a spirit or something."
"Earthquake probably." Jin said with such certainty. "The rest just sounds like elaborate kidnappings."
"Perhaps.. but the fact that no one knows to this day who or what was responsible is why it is known for being a top haunted location... By the way, wasn't the train positioned at a different museum before?" Reigen asked, spinning back around to walk properly.
"Eh, a couple 'a people went missing on it a year ago and the owner was so terrified of the thing he offered to practically give it away! So I bought it off of him for real cheap! Great deal, right?" Reigen swallowed from behind. That...wasn't the response he was looking for. The museum owner shoved open the two doors, revealing a whole room dedicated to the train! There were three train cars remaining and the engine, all a little chipped and broken, showing their age and the brutality they went through in days long gone. "I wanted to have an exorcist check this baby out before opening it up to the public."
"Wooah!" Zeya gasped, pushing past Reigen just to get a better look of it. The only light was a singular, old fashioned street lamp in the middle of the room, the train itself forming a half circle around it. Other than the lamp, lamps inside the old train produced enough light to navigate as well. The ceiling was impossible to see; as
were the distant corners.
"How do you know about the train, Zeya?" Reigen asked. Curious, since the other two hadn't a clue it even existed until now.
"A few old friends and I used to break into the previous museum and dare each other to chant random s### to see if we could summon a demon." She smiled up at the blond.
"...Right.." 'You sure this is yours, Elyse?'
Jin stared at the battered train with a dead inside look, hands tucked away into his pockets. Serizawa stood beside him, squinting at the impressive sight.
"You sure all this spirit stuff is real?.. I mean... I've seen a lot in my life, but never a ghost before." Jin mumbled so only the brunette at his side could hear.
"You bet." Whispering back. "I've exorcised a few myself. You're not an Esper like Reigen and I are, though, so you'd only be able to see powerful ghosts if they let you see them."
(Reigen had previously faked getting his quirk back a while ago. I just had no idea where to slide that in. >.<)
"Is that how it works..? ...Huh..." Jin still wasn't all too convinced. Though Reigen had gotten pretty close to convincing him a few times, there was still something in the back of his head denying it; explaining away everything with tricks of the light or the use of someone's quirk.
"Alright, let's board this train then." Reigen slipped past the museum director groaning internally about the situation he was in. Even if there was a ghost, Reigen would just throw a little salt around and call it good. That would teach him.
Though Reigen literally pushed the silver haired teen off of the first train car steps, she somehow managed to slip between all of them onto the train. "Wow! They really cleaned this place up!" Hands on her hips, Zeya stood in front of the men, the first to scan over the gentle yellow light being cast over warm red wood and soft cushion seats. The train car was rather well kept and polished. Only splintering in a few areas. As if magic itself was keeping the old train alive.
Everyone spread out through the train car, examining the place for any signs of spiritual activity.
"Well.. There's nothing here. I'll have a look inside the other train car." Reigen stood from looking under one of the wood benches.
"Ooo! I'll go with you! That car's the most exciting!"
"Ugh- Zeya, no."
"Too bad! Now hurry up, slow poke!" The teen grabbed Reigen's wrist and dragged him into the other with a wide grin across her face. Dang, her grip was strong!!
"Uh-um! You two check the engine!" Reigen called over his shoulder before the train car door shut on him. The man gasped once he turned around to finally see what was inside the other train car. The benches were scattered! Torn to bits, shredded. Was this from the crash?!.. or was it something else entirely? Zeya chuckled darkly at his side.
"This is my favorite room."
'Is this child okay...mentally..?'
Suddenly, the lights flickered off. The blond yeeped. It was so dark he couldn't even see the nose on his face!
"...Well now I can't see s###!" A faint glow came from Zeya. Reigen turned his head, eyes narrowed when he realized what it was.
"Seriously? ... Glow in the dark tattoos?" He almost sighed at the sight. White tattoos on her wrists, upper arms, shoulders, neck, and even face glowed faintly, resembling some ancient warrior type of tats. That wasn't all, however. Her hair also glowed the same faint white shade, as well as her blood red irises. The tattoos along her chin shifted, conveying a smirk somewhat.
"I know right?! Aren't they awesome!? Some guy I fought a while back inspired them. Said I was surprisingly quick on my feet for a pathetic woman... which I took as a compliment!"
"Uhuhh..."
"His weren't glowing, though. That idea was all mine! The hair's also thanks to some glow in the dark shampoo I--" The lights turned on again. "Oh hey! The lights are back on!... Wait.. but where'd you go?" Zeya squinted around where Reigen previously stood. Reigen did the same, frantically spinning around but spying no gremlin child. "Regent?"
"It's Reigen."
"Oh! I can still hear you!.. Can you see me?"
"No.. But I can hear you at least." Maybe that wasn't such a good thing. Reigen felt around, swiping about where she originally was, but his hands never ran into anything either. "Are you standing where you were before?"
"Yep!" Gah, her voice was right in his ear. Reigen flinched back. This was weird.
"Hey-hey-hey-hey-hey-guys!!" Serizawa's voice entered with the sound of a door opening and footsteps frantically pounding into the room. "Guys, Jin vanished!! Guys?!"
"Right here, Serizawa. But I can only hear you." Strange. Though he heard the door open, he didn't see it open.
"AAA! You guys are invisible too!" Reigen stretched his arms out to where he assumed the brunette was based on his voice, but sure enough, he felt nothing but air. "Since even I can't see you, you must not be ghosts either! What's happening?!"
"Calm down, Serizawa, I'm sure everything will be fine." Reigen steadied his voice to assure, however it was HE who was freaking out the most on the inside.
Stuck in a train.. AGAIN!? Flashbacks of the last time gripped his skull. Crap! Crap! CRAP! No WAY would he last another week stuck inside one of these things! There weren't any traces of food or drink to survive on this time! Oohhh nooo... His face was already pale. At least no one else could see it.
"Wait... I have an idea... THE MULTIVERSE EXISTS, BABY!" Zeya's voice hollered, followed by the sound of a door being ripped open. "IMMA FIND OUT IF MY MOM'S STILL ALIVE IN THIS ONE-- AAA! THERE'S NO FLOOR!!" The teen shrieked, the thudding of her footsteps racing back inside. "####### ####!"
"Zeya, I'm not sure swearing on the job is the best idea--" Serizawa.
"#### YOU!"
"Hey! Zeya, show some respect!"
"What are ya gunna do?! Strangle me, b####?!"
"Grr!!!" Reigen just about had it with this girl. He missed Mob more than ever now!
"Hey, guys, maybe if we exit the train this'll all end?" Jin's voice entered behind Serizawa. "Woa.. All of you guys are invisible too?"
"That's easy for you to say! My only way out is to jump into the infinite void! Already tried. Lasted faaar longer than any safe landing would." Zeya huffed.
"Strange... I can still see the lamp outside the train."
"Wai wh??" Reigen immediately ran up to one of the windows and pressed his clammy hands against the glass. A moan of dread escaped him. ... Only infinite void stared back.
"Aw man.. How are we supposed to exorcise the spirit if we're all split up like this?" Serizawa.
"Forget the spirit! How on earth do we get OUT of here?!" Some of Reigen's inner paranoia broke free. He could feel a panic attack coming. Not only he, but Serizawa and Zeya would be stuck here to suffer all because of him!
"Asking the museum director guy would be pretty useless..." Jin thought. "..I'll have a look around outside the train to see what I can find. Everyone else can scan the other cars for clues."
"Clues for what??" Reigen was shaking. Serizawa tried to calm him down with the same gentle assurance he'd been given earlier.
Zeya was gone. Apparently she'd already left to go looking for clues. Reigen groaned as his own team fell apart before him. He'd seriously need to snap himself out of this panicky mess if he wanted to keep his head on straight!
Now alone, Reigen sat down on a bench, took control of his breathing, and thought through what he was going to do.
'...Alright... The good thing about previously being stuck in a pocket dimension like this is that at least I know what to look for. Or.. I guess in my case what not to look for. ... They're right. Maybe scrounging around for anomalies is our safest bet.'
After he'd successfully stood up, Reigen crossed the train car to enter into the third.
Click.
Though he tugged at the door handle, it wouldn't budge. 'Oh no..' Intrusive paranoia set in again. He wiggled at the door knob some more but only for the same results. 'Crap! Didn't Zeya just enter through this thing a few minutes ago?!'
He heard the door opening right in front of him, followed by a loud call from the teen. "HELLO?"
"GAH!" Reigen reeled back, quick to rub the ring out of his ears.
"Oh, sorry. Didn't see you there." Zeya chuckled.
"Wait so my door is locked but yours isn't??"
"Huh?" The door audibly opened and closed again. "Yours locked or sum'thin?"
"Yeahhhh..." The man hissed agitatedly through his teeth.
"D###, this just got ten times more complicated. ... Or did it~?"
Tud- tud- tud- tud-
On the other side of the train car, Zeya struggled at the door knob as well. "Ay-ay! I'm locked out too!"
"Why do you sound excited by that?-- Wait a minute..." The gears in his own head turning, Reigen massaged his chin as he had a brief look around. "This is all like.. one big puzzle piece then."
"#### yes! I love puzzles!!" Zeya exclaimed. She ran off again back into the train car Reigen couldn't access, leaving the man alone again. He cupped his hands together.
"Hey!! Serizawa!!"
Audibly only, the door in front of him opened. "Huh, yeah?"
"Come and see if this door is unlocked for you real quick?"
"Um.. Alright." It wasn't. He was able to pass on into the third train car as well. Reigen ran to the front of the train car and opened the door which led to outside. It really was just one, big, eerie dark abyss.
"Jin! You out there?!"
"Ow, man! I'm right in front of you!"
"What are you trying to do?! Make me mute?!"
"That would be deaf."
"Shut up!!"
"Hey, Jin! Come and see if any of the doors are locked for you!"
"Ugh..! Alright, alright!"
"Don'g listen to him. We're thankful for the job." Turns out Jin could only enter the first two train cars as well. With this discovery, everyone now knew what they were looking for: keyes.
The race was on. Zeya searched the first car, Reigen searched the second, Serizawa searched the first, and Jin tackled the outside and engine. All Reigen found were some spare bits of thin plywood and a screwdriver underneath bench seat cushions.
"I found one! I found one!!" Zeya ran into the first train car. Reigen jumped, elated and relieved. He was beginning to worry they had come to another dead end. Her footsteps raced through the blond, hurrying to unlock her door. "...Crap! It's the wrong size... Maybe it'll work for your door."
"Um...problem."
"Yeah, I can see that now.. or, guess I should say I can't see that now." Zeya sighed. As she started to mumble about losing hope, Reigen felt the wood in his hands... Wait a minute... This stuff was oddly malleable!
"Wait, Zeya, do you have anything to draw with??"
The two sat down on the hard wood floor. Zeya used some of her eyeliner to trace the key, which Reigen could see on his end. He used her trace to carefully chisel out its shape using the flathead screwdriver. After a couple tries, Reigen had successfully created his own key!
The man inhaled. "...Here goes nothing..." Inserting the wooden key, Reigen very carefully unlocked the door.
Click.
Reigen was suddenly pounced from behind. He thought something was attacking him at first, but then realized it was only Zeya hugging him.
"I noticed you were starting to freak out, so I stopped messing with ya.. Heh, big baby." The teen mumbled happily, then let him go. Reigen spun around, glad to finally see another face again.
But he also had to scoff at her comment. "Am not!"
Zeya stuck out her tongue out at him and ran off. "I'm going to find Seri! Hey, Seri!! Du abla e Espanol?!" Reigen chuckled. Well, now that that door was unlocked, he may as well check it out some more.
Serizawa found nothing in his train car, so he was encouraged to comb through the whole thing with the others. Finally, inside an air vent in the third train car, Reigen found a box tucked away, which he used the screwdriver from before to unscrew and retrieve the box. Inside was an elaborate puzzle. Thankfully, Zeya was a natural at all things involving "breaking into s###." So she, with a few ideas from Reigen, Serizawa, and the newly joined Jin, opened the box, retrieving from it another rusty old key.
"Heyy! I can see you guys again!" Serizawa exclaimed once the next door had unlocked. He gave Reigen a little hug and pat Zeya on the head.
Next, it was time to team up with Jin, which would hopefully lead to their escape. An imprint of a key unlike the others was found underneath a seat cushion. Using that as a reference, Serizawa used his telekinesis to fold his bowtie into the perfect compact key shape.
And finally, as Serizawa unlocked the door leading their way out of the train, the lamplight from outside flashed on.
"We did it!!" Reigen laughed hysterically, more than ready to never board another train again!!
"Yessss!" Zeya.
"That was pretty fast." Serizawa.
"You sure there was nothing but infinite void around? Or you guys just being paranoid?" Jin.
Zeya raised a hand to the men and both Jin and Serizawa gave her a high five.
Serizawa stopped Reigen from escaping by placing his hand on the boss' shoulder. "Wait, what about the spirit? Don't we still have to exorcise it?" Reigen jumped a little. He really just wanted to get some air. So.. close...
"A-a-ah, yes! Maybe we will find it outside the train. Since we-um didn't see it inside!"
"That makes sense." Crossing her arms, Zeya could tell how spooked the blond really was. And to be honest she was a little on edge as well.
"Oh, alright, then." The brunette let Reigen go, who promptly hopped down the steps to reach the blessed concrete ground.
"-Aaaaaaand, time!" A new voice chimed from above. The crew craned their necks, wide eyed at the sight of a bright pink spirit with a goatee holding a stop watch before them! It was just a little guy. Kind of like Dimple, but pinker and maybe just a little bigger too. "Teh, only took you guys two hours and twenty-three minutes!... Guess you could consider that a record..."
"SERIZAWA, EXORCISE IT!!" Reigen pointed up at the blob. If that was the same spirit who messed with them in the train, who knows what else it could do to them?!
"O-okay!" Serizawa stretched out his hand, only stopped by the shrill cry of the museum manager.
"WAAAAIIIIIITTT!!!" The man ran to them from the door, stopping before them all to pant, hands bracing his knees for a second. The spirit lowered itself, hovering just over the director's shoulder with an unamused look on his face. "This spirit... is... an accomplice of mine. My Gamemaster...to be specific."
"Wait, WHAT?!" All of Reigen's crew.
"Yeah.. Hiring you guys was a h### of a lot cheaper than hiring an entire team of professional escape room testers. .. There's no real ghost to exorcise." The man explained. Jin was stuck staring up at the ghost. After all he'd witnessed today, it was almost a relief to see a spirit for the first time! Made more sense than any other possibility for once!
"Wait.." The deeply concerned Reigen's eye twitched. "So you actually teamed up with a spirit for this?"
"He gets the money; and I get to mess with all the people I want~" The spirit explained, ending with a sadistic grin.
"I used to be an exorcist too you see!" Explaining himself in this very bizarre situation he found himself in. "But after a while, I started to lose interest in merely exorcising them; I wanted to do something more with my spiritual-based interests!" The man turned, motioning for the crew to follow him. His spirit friend remained visible, trailing behind and dearly enjoying the looks he got from the shuffling Jin. "So I started making deals with spirits instead of exorcising them, leading to the making of this museum!!" The middle aged man threw his hands up as they entered the main room. Now that it has been revealed, the crew could see a lot more strange anomalies, such as brooms and dusters moving around on their own, all powered by spirits. "Where my only employees are the spiritual entities within the exhibits themselves! .. Which is eons cheeper than hiring human hands, I might add.." Smirking over his shoulder at Reigen.
"You sure are a penny pincher, huh??" Zeya.
"It's the only way we business men thrive!" Spinning around. He slapped the now in front of him blond's suit. "Isn't that right, Arataka?"
"I will admit, your business strategy is impressive.." Reigen said with a dead look inside. He really didn't have much to say. He'd been played twice by the same man in one day, a feat that hadn't been accomplished by another in all his life. Not to mention he'd been scared to the bone from experiencing not his first, not his second, but his third time being trapped inside a train like that. Any more and he might just go insane. And of course, on top of all of that, Zeya was put in great danger. Though she didn't seem to care much and basically forced herself into the situation, he was still responsible for her in a way. "Soo, about the payment~?"
"Oh, of course! Here." The man passed a stack of cash over his shoulder. Reigen counted it quickly, a little disappointed. It was exactly as the man had promised. No tips or anything. "From one business man to another, I'd recommend laying off any unnecessary employees."
Watching her aunt's boyfriend from the sidelines, Zeya recognized the mood he was in immediately. She ducked her chin in contemplation.
"Sir? You do realize I will be suing you for child endangerment, correct?" The teen spoke up. Dellie froze mid step, neck shrinking between his shoulders.
"Wh-what could you possibly mean by that? I made you all sign wavers, didn't I?" Head creaking over his shoulder.
"Didn't you notice I signed it incorrectly?? That s###'s not going through the system! And the waver said nothing about the extent of our dangers, either!"
"Yes it does!!"
"I can't read. ... Man, what a desperate loser. Taking advantage of a neurodivergent minor who who couldn't afford proper schooling?.. Sounds like a pretty terrible case to me~"
"A-alright!! Will you just take a couple thousand yen to drop the whole thing?!"
"Hmmm. I dunno. Mr. Reigen? You know the law a lot better than I? How much do you think I can sue this man for?" Both her and Reigen stood side by side with the same thinking pose.
"Hhmmm. Oh, this can definitely earn him some jail time. I'd probably have to say at the very least he would owe you somewhere around two million yen."
"-But I'll drop the whole thing and sign the waver correctly for a mere one million yen. You can always make the money back with that new exhibit of yours..." Both gave the museum director the same intense look.
Dellie and the spirit shared a concerned side eye between the two of them. The spirit then shrugged. "I don't really have anything to lose here, so it's all on you."
The human sighed, dropping his arms in defeat. "Hhhh, you win this round, kid. But I've got security cameras recording this whole thing in case you ever try to sue me behind my back, ya hear?!"
After everyone had agreed to the terms, Dellie stomped up the stairs to retrieve the extra cash while Zeya wrote her name properly down on the waver.
"The government will probably wonder why I'm not the frick in Juvi.. but oh well..." Smirking.
"Wait so you're hiding from the law too?!"
"D#####! Really shouldn't have said that out loud!"
Zeya spun around, leaning against the registry desk as she laughed. "Man, you too?! What was your villain name??"
"Shhh!" Reigen.
"Oh please. I've already checked. The audio quality is absolute trash!"
"It's um.. It's Twice." Jin whispered just to be safe.
Zeya went ._. "...Ah, heh.. I- um... I tried to kill you a few times, didn't I...? Psh! Oh well. What's in the past is in the past, am I right?!"
----------
"D###, I don't think I've ever held this money in my life!" Zeya walked out among the rest with the wads of cash in hand. "This is too much for me! I'll waste it all on useless s###! Here, you get a stack, and you get a stack, and you get like five or something, I dunno." By the time Zeya was done, she had handed most of her money to the rest in the group. "I just need enough to buy new shoes anyways." Reigen smiled down pleasantly at the silver haired teen.
Maybe she wasn't too bad after all...
Reminded him of himself, actually.
Just, um, maybe a little more morally corrupt than himself in some ways.
Eheheh..heh...
And he thought having one ex-terrorist at his side was enough. Now he had two and a half!
Jin: "Hey, so, guys... When are we going to start doing that crime fighting thing you two promised?"
Zeya: :D "You guys FIGHT CRIME?!"
Reigen and Serizawa: ರ_ರ ಠ﹏ಠ

Duv-duv-duv-duv-duv
The crooked fan on the ceiling made for an irritating but melodic sound. The air it kicked around was much needed on her clammy face.
A girl with dark brown hair shaved on one side stared up at the ceiling fan with two blank, silvery eyes. No sign of intelligent thought resided in that stare. Just the deadest, most dissociative look on the planet.
At her right was a swarm of buzzing, which irritated her ears as well but not enough to steal her attention away from the fan. A fly flew from the collective of buzzing, landing on her cheek. She allowed it to sit there for a moment, only waving the insect away when it decided to take a bite out of her. Another wave of irritation washed over when she caught a new whiff of a strong, disgusting odor. Her nose twitched, finally prompting enough interest to rotate her head enough to lazily glance at the dead body laying on the couch beside her. It was a U shaped couch. She sat in the middle of it on the floor, only leaning her back against the piece of furniture and a few pillows.
Flies ate away at the fresh carcass, mainly going for the gaping mouth and eyes. Twas the body of a middle aged woman..or man. Hard to tell at this point. Much of their features were beginning to dislocate from one another, steadily becoming one with the couch they lay on.
The young woman's lazy head and eyes turned the other way, landing on the guy, too propped against the couch, laying on his stomach with his knees on the tan carpet floor. He still breathed.. though barely. The few cuts she'd put in him were already attracting flies, which ate away at his flesh. Already, magots were beginning to sprout around his wounds, decreasing his chance of recovery by the minute. The same had already happened to the woman, however she was no longer even worth considering, as she was far gone now.
Hhhh... This little apartment they lived in was so bland. Too bad they didn't believe in TVs, or else she'd have something entertaining to do while waiting for the man to die.
Ring-ring! ... Ring-ring!
Well, guess she had her phone... The young woman slid the device out of her pocket and held it to her ear, head leaning back to lay on the couch cushion.
"Yeah?"
"Ugh! It's been a pain trying to contact you, you know?! Why didn't you bring your work phone with you?!" A fairly familiar, feminine voice called.
"Didn't want to have to carry around two phones. Now cut the chatter and tell me what's wrong... Better be important to intrude on my vacation time like this."
"Makima's been captured, Z's escaped, and our whole base has been destroyed!! Where the h### are you and why haven't you returned?!" Despite the laundry list of problems, the brunette's dead inside look never went on flinching. It was though she were dead as the very corpse laying at her left and right.
She stared up at the ceiling fan a little while longer, unblinking. "...Air conditioning." Finally muttering her reason.
"What?? It's SNOWING over here!!"
"Not where I am."
"Where are you anyways?! I can't track you!"
"On the other side of the world right now... visiting family." Joined with her monotone response, the young woman glanced again around her at the full corpse and half a corpse.
"I thought you were a foster kid."
"I am... Wanted to pay some old ma's and pa's a visit."
"Ugh!.. Well, when you're done... Hurry back over. Your quirk is the only perfect foil we've got to Z's, so we need you here with us. Not to mention that boy we let slip through our fingers has now been heavily requested by the big man himself."
"Got it." The brunette immediately hung up. She inhaled a breath of foul air, held it, then exhaled a long, large sigh.
"..Mmh..gh..." A weak moan oozed out of the man's throat. He struggled to lift his arms draped over the couch, barely even strong enough to open his own two eyes. Eaten away by flies, the man could do nothing but look the woman in the eyes, silently pleading for her help; her forgiveness for whatever he may have done.
The woman.. not even nineteen yet, only stared the man down with the most despicable, remorseless expression a man can ever dread to witness.
As they locked eyes, the girl readied her fingers and--
Snap!
...Certain that man would never wake again.
...
Over a dozen people died that week of completely natural causes. The only correlation between them being that they once fostered a child simply known as Fey.
From the moment she was born...she never felt a thing.
...To her, this was just an average day on the job...
