23 | A Fragile Heart

Remember when I said this crossover was hekka ambitious?.. Welllllll, how about we double that? You'll see what I mean eventually. (Btw, I've actually been thinking about doing this since I started the book. Again, you'll see what I mean in due time.)
===============================

][ Previously: The UA children fight against evil pirates or sumthn. Shigeo kidnaps and talks to himself on his own lil island until the Mob half gives in to save his friends. More fighting ensues. ][

It was taking everything inside of him not to explode. Every fiber of his being not to lash out and make things worse.

SMASH!

Another blue dragon crushed Mob between its jaws and pinned him against the ground. The teen was silent, though the storm stirred around them still. Nine approached slowly, eyes switching again to a faint green.

"GAAH! GO TO HELL YA LUNATIC!!!"

BOOM!

With one mighty blow, Dimple in Deku's body blew the woman away. She crashed into a tree much further way and tumbled to the ground, knocked out for the count.

Dimple panted heavily, catching his breath. Both of his arms were completely discolored and unusable. Bakugo landed beside Izuku and ran up to him, grabbing the greenette by the shirt of his collar and dragging him closer.

"Alright, where is the real Deku, hu?! The twerp I know doesn't talk or fight like that!" Shaking the smaller by the collar of his shirt aggressively.

"Agh! Alright, easy, EASY!!.." Dimple grabbed his chest around where the quill was and held it protectively in place. Bakugo noticed and dropped him. "You're right.. Your friend or whatever is still unconscious, but I'm not your enemy either! The name's Dimple."

"I don't care what the crap your stupid name is! I'll kill you if you don't bring my friend back right now!!" Beneath all of that rage, the blond's whole body was shaking.

Dimple rolled his eyes and sighed. "Alright.. But if he dies, his blood won't be on my hands." Growling again, Dimple slipped out of Izuku's body. Bakugo caught the other before he could hit the floor. Right then, Izuku blinked open his eyes and gasped under the shock of all the pain filling his body.

     "What...happened?... Kachan?"

Bakugo huffed as he stood his classmate up. "Took you long enough. Your body was taken over by something for a minute. I dunno. Maybe a mind control quirk or something."

     "A what???"

"Nevermind.. But you have to go to the emergency center NOW. And don't touch that spike in your chest!"

     "But--"

"--But there's only one villain left, which I can handle!" Bakugo twisted his body toward said threat. Narrowing his eyes, he crouched in preparation to pounce again. For Nine wasn't far from reaching the already struggling Mob, whose glowing eyes kept flickering on and off like a dying lightbulb.

The youngest teen stood, hugging himself tightly. More than hugging. Fighting with himself. Physically fighting his own body into submission.

     "...Mob..." Izuku breathed.

Despite all the struggling, Mob still turned his body to Nine, next fighting himself not to look the villain in the eyes. The boy swayed so far he had to catch himself. That foot landed on uneven rubble, causing him to stumble even more. He picked himself up slowly, though Mob wished he would just stay on the ground.

"..No... G-get back!" He warned Nine. For the rage, fear, annoyance, self loathing.. it was all so..so strong... The villain did not heed the boy's cry. He extended his hand. Two puppeteered blue dragons sprouted from the man's back, each violently biting and clamping down on Mob's hands, crushing them and pulling them opposite to one another so the rest of him was completely vulnerable. The boy gasped and dipped his head. The energy around him was so strong. He never quite felt like this before! So much power flowing through him while he was still conscious! So many emotions flowing through him without completely breaking down!

100% [too many emotions]

Still, he gripped onto the thin threads of control with his very life force!

Nine pushed through the strong, stinging aura Mob's small body expelled. It would be worth it in the end if he could have such a strong quirk! The villain stretched out his hand, pushing through the terrible heat and pain in order to reach Mob's forehead.

     "Just...give me... your quirk."

???%

Somehow, the wind picked up even more! Nine leaned in against the immense pressure, feet digging through the ground to break past that last foot of space between them.

And then the jaws of his dragons began to crack. Loud crunching erupted from them as bright white cracks crawled up the energy creatures' forms.

"MOB!!" Izuku, helplessly watching, stumbled forward, arms stretching out.

     "I'M...NOT...MOBBB!!!"

     Something snapped inside of him.

CRACK!

The dragon limbs shattered into a thousand pieces. Nine was blasted back. He rolled over his shoulder and hurried again onto his feet. But Shigeo was already jumping into the air, right hand reeling back, white flame of pure, destructive energy sprouting from the palm of his hand and engulfing his entire arm.

     "TRY TO TAKE ME, BASTAAAARRRD!!!"

As Mob's hand landed on Nine's forehead, the man crumbled and exploded all in one. First his clothes blew off, immediately after followed by his skin, and so on. Like a massive, planet killing laser had shot him straight through, the villain was torn apart down to his very bone. And even then his skeleton continued to break apart until nothing but charred and shattered bone dropped to the ground. In that same second, Shigeo's hair flushed white from the roots throughout the rest. By the time it was over, neither of the two were recognizable. Shigeo dropped over the fallen body of his enemy, his red eyes blazing brighter than they ever had before.

He panted long, large breaths, a massive smile cutting across his face.

Freedom came through not caring about what came of your enemies... Heh, such a simple lesson, yet it took him forever to truly grasp.

But then came Mob's screams. Deafening, though they were within his own mind. Shigeo grabbed his head and stumbled forward. But the one inside him did not relent. How did he still have this much control?!

Shigeo dropped to his knees, then onto his stomach. His bright white hair slipped away, overcome by their original black-as-night shade. His breathing settled, but his body trembled in its sleep.

Shigeo was out. Mob was out. Both were unconscious victors...unable to enjoy the encroaching morning sunlight hugging the horizon.

Izuku's eyes couldn't vacate the site. An overwhelming nausea clawed at his stomach.

     ...To bones...?

Bakugo wasn't in much greater condition, however he hid his shock a whole lot better.

Now...they believed they understood why Mob was really here. And it had nothing to do with something as silly as protecting them, like some glorified bodyguard!

The truth was arguably far more unsettling...

UA was trying to contain Mob's power...wasn't it? For, though the quirks these boys had grown up familiar with were very powerful, Mob's raw energy was on a whole nother level! Why, he might even be able to take on All Might in his prime!

And judging by their new classmate's past actions... He could lose control to these powers as well.

What were the two even supposed to do..?

No matter what, it looked like this kid would be yet another problem to deal with regardless of how they handled the situation.

     Should they..even tell the truth?

----------

Reigen was taking out some trash when he saw the boys returning by daybreak. Mob was fast asleep, one arm slung over Bakugo's shoulder, the rest of him dragging behind. Izuku had offered to help the blond several times, but he insisted he could do it himself. So Izuku walked at their side, tending to his own injuries. And, squinting, Reigen even caught sight of Dimple hovering between the kid heroes!

"Mob!!" He dropped the bags of trash and hurried to help Bakugo carry him. "What happened here, Dimple?"

   "Huh?"
"Huh?" The teen's saw nothing but air.

"Villain attack." The spirit didn't want to elaborate for now. He'd heard the other two talking about it and agreed. Maybe it'd be best to keep Mob's direct killing of Nine a secret...for his own good. After all, what good would come from word getting out about Mob killing a villain like that? It was more likely that he'd be targeted even more than before!..from both villains and the press alike.

Reigen simply nodded, understanding a lot must have gone down. For now..Izuku was badly hurt and Mob was unresponsive. The details would have to come later.

----------

"Over here. The surgeon is almost done setting up." Izuku was led away into one room and Bakugo asked to go over what happened with a few of his classmates in the corner of the main room, which housed nearly every citizen on the island.

At last, with nothing left to do, Reigen slid his back against the wall beside Mob, who promptly leaned into the man as if he instinctively knew someone was now there. His head landed on the Reigen's shoulder, and the older man sighed.

"Mind if I join you?" Elyse dragged her feet along, stopping beside them.

"Of course.." Reigen yawned. Elyse sat down on the other side of Reigen with her back against the wall as well. She huffed, tired after a long day and sleepless night as well. Reigen continued yawning at her side, trying his very best to keep his eyes open.

"D###, I've still got sand in my clothes.."

Plop..

Reigen gave up, his head resting on her shoulder as Mob leaned on his. The woman blushed and looked away. She was pretty tired though, so after about a minute she laid her head against his and slept too. Sandy pillow. Serizawa draped a blanket over all three of them and sat beside Mob to do the same.

----------

The young heroes held the fort down until some of the military and a few pro heroes showed up much later that day to handle the situation from there. The villains were arrested. People were questioned. Stories were told. All of it and more until things again began to settle down.

Though Izuku and Bakugo agreed to lie about Mob's loss of control, the bowl-cut boy himself came clean about the situation. He didn't want his friends to have to lie like that, especially to the government and pro heroes they admired.

Probably the worst decision he could have made. While everyone else was allowed to stay on the island for another week, Mob had to return with All Might to the mainland.

No one quite knew what to do with him. His case certainly was a messy one.

The first day back home, Mob visited a therapist, where he was diagnosed with DID, PTSD, and finally, ASD. He took all these labels, but, didn't know what to do with them. Because of these diagnoses, however, the charges of assault and 1st degree murder were dropped. And because of the victim being a villain charged with many felonies himself, Mob's punishment dropped almost completely. He just had to stay on the UA campus for now where the principle and other top heroes could keep an eye on him.

===================
Since I forgot you guys aren't Psychology majors:
DID - Dissociative Identity Disorder (diagnosed because of the struggle between Mob's two halves was so intense, and each side acted with their own individual personalities and perspectives)
PTSD - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(diagnosed primarily because the creation of his DID stemmed from past trauma)
ASD/Autism - the fandom says so and I agree :]
====================

.

On the third day, the press finally exploded about it. That was...a little crazy. Mob's face was everywhere all of a sudden, with people arguing all over online about how such an innocent little boy could kill such a menacing criminal. Topic of the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Event theory was heavily discussed, using Mob as some kind of proof. Other things were talked about as well, such as Humarise -- a global cult, and "The Eclipse," which was supposedly an ancient theory dating back to a time before quirks about an event that would end all power. People assumed it meant eating the rich or something much more mystical...until Quirks came along.

And since Mob didn't have anything else to do, he found himself observing many of these debates and doing some light research into these topics as well. He felt beyond horrible, knowing that this great uproar had been stirred by him.

----------

"I appreciate your concern, but I believe the boy should stay here for now." Nezu spoke calmly to the head of the hero training board, who had come over for a personal visit. This issue had grown much larger than Nezu would have liked, but, he stayed firm and unmoving.

Naomasa Tsukauchi accompanied the board member but remained neutral in this discussion. All Might was here as well for moral support or something. And the board member came with a couple associates of his own.

"Are you certain? We are talking about a mentally unwell child with powers that could rival All Might in his prime. Perhaps it would better suit him if he were taken in by a Shadow School?.. I heard Gojo offered to mentor him personally."

"I read his offer...but I am afraid something like that won't be what is best for the young Kageyama. While I do have faith in Satoru's teaching abilities, his style is not for the faint of heart. I would be more worried for the boy's own personal well-being there, since they do a lot more field training compared to our school, and they are known for not having the most mentally sound students either... And wasn't their school attacked but a couple weeks ago as well? So even their school grounds aren't any safer than ours."

"This isn't about protecting the boy as much as it is about protecting the other students... All Might, though I will always respect you, we can both agree that you are currently incapable of defending your students were Kageyama to lose control."

     "I..."

"The same issue does not exist with Gojo."

"But we still have Aizawa, who has already done an excellent job in handling the boy's past outbursts." Nezu.

The board member rubbed the bottom half of his face for a moment as he thought.

Nezu continued. "It's much more than that, though. The mere act of moving him could be dangerous as well. ... I.. do not speak much of my past, but, when I was an object of experimentation, I was often passed around from one facility to the next. Such was a troubling experience for me, since I was given so little time to adapt..." The principle's posture and voice changed only a little, looking down at his little paws accompanied by a nervous chuckle. Such was the extent of his emotions shown. "I would not wish the same experience for Kageyama. He has gone through enough already; transferring him to another school would only worsen his mental stability and make things even harder on the rest of us. ... Besides! While you all see this boy as an obstacle, I see him as a great opportunity for growth. Kageyama isn't the first student with problems like this, and he most certainly won't be the last. The sooner we can come up with a way to handle it, the better. Isn't that right, All Might?"

Standing straighter, the tall blond scratched the back of head, "Your logic sure is sound." He chuckled.

"What then can we do to improve things?" Tsukauchi spoke up at last.

"Great question!.. All Might? You know the boy better than I do."

"Well-well.. I guess? Mob is really close to his friends and family back home, so maybe allowing him to visit them more often might help. Oh, and also the guy he used to work for is pretty close as well, not to mention an insanely nice guy, so allowing him to enter the school campus on occasion would be sure to help too."

"Those are great ideas, All Might! See? The resolve doesn't have to be overly complicated. We have things under control over here."

"Hhh, alright." The board member turned away with his two men. "We won't get involved... For now. However," stopping just a moment to glare over his shoulder at the rat. "fail to keep Kageyama from injuring anyone else and we will resort to transferring him elsewhere... Understood?"

...

"I understand. Consider this issue resolved." It was the best he could do. The rest was up to Shigeo Kageyama.

----------

Mob was a fragile boy at heart.

The teen stared down at his phone, laying on his belly on the futon. He scrolled endlessly through news articles about him and debates that ran rampant. His eyes just couldn't leave the screen.

Dimple yawned. "Man, I've gotta stretch my legs. I'll be wandering for a little while." The spirit got up from the wood floor beside Mob and floated out the window into a world full of snow. The outside world was so bleak and gray, even the light that spilled in was nothing but lifeless.

"Okay." Mob's flat answer only came after the spirit left.

After a few more minutes, Mob rolled onto his side, then sat up. In front of him on a little desk was Freckles' empty tank, cleaned out and serving no purpose, but not put away yet. The boy stared at it with an absent expression until his eyes dried up. He blinked frantically, regaining his ability to think.

He stared out the window at the cloudy sky above. He turned on his phone again. Before even registering, Mob was back to scrolling through news articles about him and the incident.

" 'It is scarry to think there is such a powerful kid out there. Just a kid! We're not even talking about a registered hero like All Might!' "

" 'Freaky the way weird things keep happening wherever he is. I mean, didn't that giant broccoli appear in his hometown while he was still living there?' "

" 'The dude's got a creepy cult following him called the Psycho Helmet Religion. I dunno what his plan is, but it can't be good.' "

" 'Can we even call him human???' "

Teardrops fell onto Mob's lap. He wiped them away and sniffed. Crap, he was getting more emotional than he should. He can't do that now! Not when emotions lead to losing control in the first place!!

...It was a shame that the boy had to fear something so natural and unavoidable about himself; something many would claim was the very thing that made him human...

Mob pinched his arm until it turned red, hoping that would redirect his thoughts. It did... Thank goodness!

He couldn't be getting emotional now. He couldn't be thinking much either. He couldn't do anything really!

...And for what? What was the point in having these powers? He certainly wasn't helping anybody out with them!

In a moment of distress, one tends to fall into a downward spiral where they forget all the good and only focus on the bad. That, and Mob's unhealthy obsession with wanting to know how people truly felt about him, led Mob into, perhaps.. one of the darkest places he had ever been.

Mob thought to himself. 'I have to remove this... This quirk isn't of use to anybody; it is only a disease! A terrible curse I was never supposed to have!' Many words from the Humarise movement had seeded themselves into his head, only making things worse.

Mob determined that he would solve everybody's problem now. Frantically pulling books down from his small bookshelf, Mob grabbed a thick one that didn't quite match the other school related ones. This was an old book on fairy tales; one he found for free since nobody wanted it. It's pages were all glued together but one part where the volume split in half. Opening it on the floor, Mob revealed thea small spot where all the pages had been cut out. Within was the red bullet that Zeya girl had handed him. From Kai's Yakuza. One that supposedly would remove his quirk permanently.

'Don't...' Shigeo warned in his head. Mob didn't respond. He stood up with the bullet between his fingers. It had a needle at the tip of it, meaning that if he stabbed himself with it fast enough.. 'Dare try that and I will lose it.'

Mob's hands shook. "Like I even have a choice... My parents.. my brother.. my friends.. the world... They all see me differently because of my powers." Tears freely streamed down his cheeks. "..And I hate that..."

But his arms wouldn't do anything. No matter how many times he tried to stab himself, inject himself with the serum, end his quirk...his pathetic little arms just wouldn't budge.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Hey, Mob, you have a visitor." Aizawa's flat toned voice pushed through his bedroom door. Mob's trembling fingers dropped the bullet. It quietly clicked against the wood and he crouched quickly to pick it back up.

"Um, who-who is it?!" He hadn't the time to put the bullet back away, so he resorted to sliding it into his pocket. Quickly, he wiped his face and combed his fingers through his head of messy hair, hoping to at least appear presentable.

"A salesman? I dunno... He wouldn't budge when I told him no soliciting." For the first time, Aizawa actually chuckled. "Joking. The principle invited your old boss over to visit."

"You in there, Mob?" The teen hadn't heard that voice in a couple days now. Boy, did it feel like a lot longer!

"I-- um-- uh- c-come on in!" The boy patted around himself for good measure. Indeed, he was still in his pajamas. But oh well. Reigen had seen him like this a couple times before. What he was more worried about was the man catching onto his unstable mood. His body was still trembling, adrenaline pumping through him like crazy!

Mob breathed in deep and rubbed his face, hoping to calm himself down in time.

"You can enter whenever. I'll be in the kitchen." Aizawa brushed past Reigen, snagging his sleeve at the last second. Reigen squeaked and whipped his head around, catching the teacher glaring him down. This man was taller than Serizawa.. Quite scary. "If he tells me you hurt his feelings, you can expect to find yourself wrapped up in a tarp dead on the streets out by Cleveland Park. Got it?"

Reigen nodded frantically. The only appropriate response. "G-g-go-go-got it.." Aizawa released Reigen's sleeve and walked on.

Reigen sighed a large sigh of relief and entered through the door. Since Mob was no longer allowed to work at his office, it was likely these visits would be the only way the two could catch up. Reigen entered first by scanning Mob's plain and somewhat messy room. The first thing his eyes landed on was the empty fish tank. Sad, really. They had struggled so much making sure the water parameters were just right. Like a puzzle that could never truly be solved. Next thing he noticed was the lack of Dimple. Mob's futon was messy and random books and items scattered around, but still no sign of the little green blob.

"Heyy, man, what's up?! Feeling better? Where's Dimple?"

"Oh, I- I'm doing fine.. Dimple left to go exploring for a little bit. He should be back soon." Hm... Mob sure didn't look fine. Despite it being almost dinner time, Mob was still only wearing his pajamas, which were dampened with droplets, his eyes red. Yeah, this was just a chill day, but it was still so unlike Mob to be so poorly kept. Not to mention his room was actually messy for once, something that never happened before! (Source of knowledge: conversation and the occasional video call.) Despite noticing all of these things right off the bat, Reigen didn't want to make Mob feel awkward or anything for pointing it out. Now just wasn't the time. He was probably just a little overwhelmed by everything going on online. Reigen understood that on a deeper, more personal level than probably anybody else Mob knew.

...It wasn't like him for Mob to so desperately try and hide his feelings like this, though...

"I heard about the, um.. all the chaos going on online." Reigen hissed through his teeth as he rubbed the back of his neck. "That happened to me too... Not very fun, I'll admit."

"Really??..." Mob dropped his chin. "Oh right.. That thing about you not being a real psychic.."

"Yeap! Not fun.. But hey, at least in your case it's only a discussion! No one's threatening to put you out of a job or anything! So you can lighten up a little knowing that at least!" Reigen playfully punched Mob's shoulder, internally crapping himself upon noting just how little that did to help.

Mob stared at the floor. He couldn't even bring himself to look his old friend in the eyes. What a terrible twist of fate...that all the boy wanted to do was cry.

"Hey...Mob....are you alright..?" The moment Reigen placed his hand on Mob's shoulder, a weak sob broke out. Reigen's eyes widened, frantically looking around everywhere for a person or thing that might help him. Tears dripped from the boy's cheeks and chin, but as far as crying went, he was so quiet. "Woah, Mob... What's the matter?? I heard you got diagnosed with DID... When did that come about..? Mob..?" Reigen placed a hand on the boy's shoulder and rubbed it gently. Clearly, there was a lot more going on under the surface... Sure hoped it had nothing to do with him. "You're... trembling.." Mob backed away whenever the guy tried to give him a hug. It took a while to convince himself, but eventually the teen dug into his pocket and pulled out the blood red bullet. Reigen's entire body shook. He recognized that thing right away.

"You.... You guys caught me... I was... I was just about to use this...on myself." Mob forced himself to speak, though he tripped over each word. An actual sob followed, one large and full of pain. It felt like every other week he broke down like this now. Yet the pain was always so fresh. Why did... Why did this world's problems all have to fall down on him?

Calmly, Reagen reached out his hand and held it less than an inch under the boy's. "Mob... I want you to hand that to me... Okay?" He spoke with gentleness that calmed the boy's heart despite his demand stirring up an uproar inside. "You don't need it. .. You especially don't need to use it on yourself... You're a good kid, alright? Whatever is going on, I believe you can get through this...without having to remove your powers... Alright?"

Slowly, Mob's trembling hand rotated until the bullet fell into the elder's palm. Reigen carefully slid it into his pant pocket. Both of his hands landed on the boy's shoulders, where he rubbed them with his thumbs.

"You want to... You want to talk about it..?"

The two sat down on Mob's bedroom floor and talked for about an hour until the teen no longer had anything left to say. Reigen mostly just listened. He had NO idea things had gotten this bad. And it seemed like the worst of it bubbled up in just these past couple days.

"I'm going to need to see your phone."

     "What? Why?"

"You keep talking about news articles.. I want to see them."

"Oh... A-alright.." Mob handed his phone over to the adult, who promptly dug around in his open windows.

"Wow.. That's a lot.. And you read all these??" Mob just nodded. "Geez, kid, what's the number one thing to avoid on the internet ..besides pedophiles..? Ya gotta quit with the doom scrolling! That'll just make things worse!" Reigen started exiting out of every open window on the boy's phone, Mob not stopping to protest. "I might have to confiscate this until things calm down online. You can use your old phone in the meantime!.. That alright?"

"I guess so..." Mob's chin dipped again. Reigen sighed at the sad sight.

"You know, we've been talking about sad stuff for so long, why don't we have some fun?! There's snow outside! Come on! How rare is that?!" Reigen then placed his hand on top of Mob's and didn't speak until the boy looked him in the eyes. "Do you...want to build a snowman..?"

"..Uhuh.." Mob nodded a little, liking the idea. The last time he built one was with his dad and Ritsu about five years ago.

"Great!" Standing up excitedly, "I've already built two today, but I'm up for making a third! Now hurry up and get dressed!"

"Oh.. Okay." Mob scurried onto his feet as well. Reigen headed toward the door to give him some privacy.

"Hey and Aizawa said you could have more than one guest over as well! Should I ask if Teru and Serizawa want to visit? We could have a sleepover even if you want!"

     "A sleepover??"

"Yeah! You could use the company, right?!"

"I...guess." To be honest, Mob had no idea what he wanted. Literally none. A cute little bird could die right in front of him and he would feel nothing. But, seeing the others again would be kind of nice, and Reigen was excited about it. "...Sure."

Reigen smiled and pulled out his phone to text them at once. Once he opened the door and looked up, the adult male screamed like a child at the sight of Aizawa standing in the doorway.

"Dinner's gunna get cold if you two don't hurry up."

"Huh?? Wait, you made dinner for us?!"

"Beef broth udon. Heavy on the spices. Don't like it? Don't eat it. More for me." The long haired teacher then turned and walked away. Reigen only slipped out the door once he was sure he wasn't within striking range.

"Alright, guess we'll eat first then." Reigen gave Mob a thumbs up, then shut the door behind himself.

Thankfully, to Reigen's delight, the rest of the day went by smoothly. The two normal people suffered through your average meal with the spice king, finishing up just in time for Teruki and Serizawa to show up. Even though it was dark outside, the four built a small army of snowmen to protect the dorms from evil spirits. The actual evil spirit who showed up while Reigen and Mob were talking testified that, indeed, those monstrosities would scare any spirit away.

After they were done, to warm up, everyone sat down in the dorm's living room on the plethora of couches to watch a movie and eat some popcorn, Aizawa joining them since they so happened to pick one of the few movies he liked.

And after the movie, everyone slept on the couches -- Serizawa brought Reigen's essentials as well as his own. The only exception being Aizawa, since he was an adult who had his own room. It did entertain him, however, to see a man both his age and one only a couple years younger acting so juvenile. He ensured to tease them about it at least twenty times throughout their stay.

And Mob, while he'd definitely felt better in the past.. was at peace at least, knowing he had people to go to for support. True friends who treated him no differently..with or without his powers.
