22 | The Beach Episode #3
Funny thing is that I didn't even plan any of this. Mob just decided to go Psycho.
===============================
][ Previously: It is the year of our lord and savior: 3 y/o Mob. We finally get his backstory! In the present, boi has a tantrum over his friends not wanting to see the Minecraft build he spent all night on. Heehee, Reigen stuck in the sand. We get the same backstory but from Shigeo's/???'s POV this time. Oh yeah and Dimple's back just in time to see trouble happening on the main island. ][
'I found you.'
"Huh..?" Mob snapped into the land of the wake. His eyes shot opened as he gasped. Oh boy.. He was still outside, wasn't he? Last he remembered, he was deep under water testing out his powers. .. He was on dry land now, though. Hard rocks bit his back. A strong wind blew over his body, whistling gently as it passed. "Where...am I..?"
His body was so tired. Felt like he hadn't slept all night, maybe even longer. Mob rolled onto his side and gasped at the sight. A sea of blue enveloped the small island he lay on, which looked like it'd just survived a storm. Mob exhaled a long, pitiful sigh. How did he end up here of all places? Wait, if he didn't remember how he got here, then--?
Mob grabbed his face with one hand, breaths growing with his paranoia.
Did he just...lose control? ..Without even experiencing a negative emotion?!
'You know, you're not the only one who suffered Mogami's mind games...' There came that voice again. The one that had woken him! It sounded like...himself.
"Wh.. who are you?" Mob asked as he pushed himself onto his knees, then fully onto his feet. As the wind blew strongly against his body, the boy spun in one, slow circle. He saw no one.
'...I'm Shigeo Kageyama...' Said the voice.
"Hm? No. I'm Shigeo Kageyama."
'No, you're Mob. The fake me. I'm the real one here.' A hint of malice. Mob stumbled, nearly taken up by the winds. 'And I'm not letting you leave this place until you give me my body back.'
Mob's eyes widened in shock. "N--no."
----------
The chimera hadn't expected the counter he was met with, especially from that adult Esper who was only supposed to be a disabled helpless citizen!!
"There's a reason I've been called a monster my whole life!!" The villain's skin began to stretch for even greater, bulging muscle to fill in underneath. "RRRAAHHH!!" He became even more terrifying then before, like a big boss who levels up in the middle of their fight! A look of concern changed on Serizawa's face, but for an entirely different reason than the others. He opened his umbrella quickly to block one HECK of a fire attack!
"...I..I think I know what you're going through!!" He shouted once the spill of fire had fizzled out. Everyone else was trying to restrain him, but kept getting wacked around by his obscenely large arms and tail. "You were mistreated by the world because of your powers as a kid, weren't you?!" Serizawa stood straighter, favoring his casted leg. The poor thing had been exposed to the elements already. Sand had already dug its way into there somehow. And by this point simply recasting it wasn't an easy option.
"Huh??" The wolf hybrid darted an eye to the tall man...and he chuckled. "What?? Is the little magic man trying to sympathize with me now? Trying to get me to lower my guard now, are ya?!"
"This is not about the fight! Everyone, stop attacking him for a moment! I just want to talk to him!!"
"Phat chance!" Shouji followed with another attack. "He's already harmed innocent civilians!"
"Well I was like that too once!" Clutching his chest, Serizawa's words were directed at the chimera again. "I was a shut in!! I was a shut in who thought villainy was my only way out!! Sure I was kind of tricked into it, but that doesn't matter! I still hurt people without question because I kept justifying it with what happened to ME!! The world HATED ME!! Nobody cared, or stretched out a hand to help me when I needed it the most!!" Serizawa then threw his umbrella into the sand and stretched out his hand. A bold move, he could tell... But, then again... He could see a hopeful glisten of understanding in that villain's eyes. "I won't judge you for what you have done!.. In fact, I'll try to help you re enter society..."
"....I promise...."
The chimera's eyes trembled. His moment of rest allowed for the kids to regain their composure once again.
But then his eyes narrowed. He took in a deep breath and blew a puff of fire Serizawa couldn't hope to block.
"Serizawa!!!" Teru jumped in just in time and created a forcefield around them.
After the fire ceased, the beast roared again. "YOU FOOL! WHY TRY TO RE ENTER SOCIETY WHEN I CAN CREATE A WHOLE NEW ONE?! ONE WHERE I RULE!!!" The chimera charged Serizawa, personally insulted that his words had cut him so deeply. He was beyond saving as he was now, though. The brunette had to grit his teeth and accept that.
"Air whips!" Teru charged the beast and caught both of his arms with glowing whips, then slid between his legs and tugged them tight. That slowed the chimera down but did not stop him, which is where Sugarman rocketed in with a full body kick to the side of his head.
He fell to his knees, followed by everyone else teaming up to restrain him. Shoto dealt the final blow, freezing the firey beast to his very core.
Serizawa sat on the sand with trembling eyes. Teru barked across the battle field at him. "Serizawa, look what you did to your cast now! I told you not to get involved!!" Finally his eyes dropped down to his own self, small tears swelling in his eyes when he looked upon the damage. The cast had been completely cracked. Sand was spilling in, and there was no way to reverse the damage that had been done now... Teru huffed, but calmed down more when he approached the older man. "I'm sorry..."
"It's okay... Will you help me pick out a color for the next one..?"
"....Hhh, yeah."
Teruki helped Serizawa over to the still buried Reigen and Elyse, where a line of injured evacuees had formed. The man laid on his back beside Reigen, trying to relax and calm down with his fingers clasping together on his stomach. Reigen looked over at him somewhat forlornly, a little surprised to see the older man's face suddenly drenched with tears.
"Wh.. What's the matter, Serizawa?"
"..A lot of things..."
"Huh?" Oh man.. Reigen hadn't even been thinking about Serizawa's emotional wellbeing lately. What a great move on his part...
"You were asking about the increased medication earlier... Well, um... That fight back with Shigaraki dealt a lot more damage to my leg than just a broken bone... The doctors tried their best, but now it's infected and--" Serizawa covered his head with his arm, face heating up in embarrassment as another sob broke through his throat. "...They said one more bump and I would have to get it amputated...."
"..What...?" Reigen gasped. Now he really wished he had at least his arms back. Not much he could do comfort-wise as a bobble head.
"Serizawa, I... Why didn't you tell me..?"
The man sniffed and cleared his eyes. "...You ever felt like you didn't belong in your own home..? I... I don't even know why; I was just scared of losing you I guess..." The blond's jaw dropped a little... Looks like this went a whole lot deeper than the amputation. Guess...he never considered how getting a girlfriend might affect his friend either, who so desperately clung to him as an anchor in society. Maybe that was why he was so insistent in taking Teruki with them. The man's been needing a companion now more than ever before.
Reigen wiggled under the sand.
"Oh, sorry. Want me to help you?"
Chuckling, "Yes please." Serizawa sat up, stretched out his hand, and easily picked up the mound of sand that had been sitting atop the two.
"Thanks!.. I have to go to the bathroom now." Elyse ran off. She knew this wasn't her place to add to a conversation anyways.
After Reigen crawled out of his hole, the Esper filled it back in. He sighed, leaned back on his palms and stared somberly at the crack in his cast. Reigen scooted over to sit beside him, comforting the man by wrapping an arm around his shoulders.
"You can feel free to talk to me about whatever.. whenever." Patting the elder's shoulder. "...You're a good guy with a big heart... You won't have to worry about me leaving you. ... Got that?"
Serizawa tearfully nodded, sniffling once again. The blond didn't really have anything else to say. So they just sat there like that...watching the sun set to the color of one dark, bleak, red.
----------
'Did you hear the explosions earlier? Sure would be a shame if your friends needed you.'
"That is enough from you. I don't want to hear it anymore-- aA!" Mob caught himself from slipping down the steep, rocky slope. His fingers gripped onto a root at the last second. His heart was thumping, lungs gasping for breaths.
'Man, that was your seventh close call since you began your descent down the mountain. Sure you don't need me to take over from here?' Though the voice in his head was plain and unexpressive, Mob could easily imagine the smirk. He gritted his teeth and pulled himself back up. 'I'm not like a spirit, Mob. I know what you are thinking... Your reluctance is just childish at this point. You've used my power for years without ever thinking twice. You're just being stubborn now, not wanting to give up the control I gave you all those years ago.'
"That's...not true.. ugh." Mob hugged a boulder, carefully shuffling around it. Below was a great drop. At least a hundred feet.
'Sure was nice when you didn't have to worry about pain quite so much, huh? Man, sure sounds to me like you got pretty used to your powers ...despite acting all high and mighty by trying to avoid them...'
'Face it, Mob. We all get a little selfish sometimes. But you're taking it to another level by trying to paint yourself as righteous because of your selfishness.'
"What are you even talking about? I--woah.." Mob caught his balance quickly on the narrow, rocky ledge. He was about halfway there now... Then, maybe he could build a raft or something. Anything other than letting his powers get out of control.
'...Hhhh... Look around you. What do you think of this place? Be honest.'
Mob took a moment to look around. It was late dusk, so there was little sun left in the sky. But, thanks to the twinkle that remained, Mob could see the wondrous paradise that was this island.
"I think...it's beautiful..."
'I made this place. All of it.'
"What?"
'You keep trying to avoid using your powers, but look at what they can do!.. I brought up Mogami's mind games earlier. Wonder why..?'
"Um, no. Not really."
'Because that was your first taste of what life would be like without your powers. You got a taste of what you've always wanted: being normal. And what did you choose in the end? Having powers. You didn't even wish for a better life, or to have muscles when it really mattered. Because, at the end of the day you're just an extension of me. You know your powers are just as much a part of you as your voice and hair color; that will never change either. You can always dye your hair or talk differently, but at the end of the day it is only a mask you wear. Same as exercising to gain muscles, trying to distract yourself from looking at me was a foolish mistake.'
'You're wrong about power, Mob. I wouldn't be me if not for my power.'
'You're a coward is what you are. You're too scared to take responsibility for your own actions, so you blame it on losing control... Give me a break. Do you really think anyone is going to buy that in the real world; where criminals are arrested for losing control all the time?'
"What do you mean??"
'I'm calling you an idiot to your face.' Mob felt a hand land on his head, but when he looked up and felt around, nothing was there! Still..that pressure remained. 'Because you never minded using your powers to help others; you even gladly acknowledged and never gave a fuss about having them... But then the moment you used those same powers to hurt people...' The invisible hand gripped his head even tighter. 'You blamed it all on me.'
'That's why I hate you, Mob... It would be better for you to just disappear.'
"..."
"Wow. That sure is a lot of words... How long did it take you to prepare that speech?" Though it sounded a lot like an insult, Mob didn't mean it as such, and Shigeo didn't take it as one either. The perks to essentially talking to yourself.
The pressure of the invisible hand left Mob's head as the boy swung around a precariously placed tree. '...About three weeks. ... And they're all words you should consider too.'
"Oh trust me, I am... I just...don't think you're quite right..." Mob sure had a lot to think about. For now, he hiked down the mountain in complete silence, Shigeo allowing him this moment to think over his words.
Mob still had no intention to let him take control.
----------
Izuku and Bakugo still weren't waking up. They laid side by side on the ground, wrapped in bandages and resting on thin mats. Around them were citizens in similar but not as bad conditions. A healer sat beside each boy, glowing hands on their chest, trying to heal them.
"..Will they be alright..?" Ochako, followed by a couple other classmates, entered the room. The healers sighed.
"We've sealed up their wounds, but I'm afraid that's it... Their broken bones..all of that.. will take time to heal." The healers stood, moving on to care for other patients.
"Understood..." It shouldn't be this much of a shock now, seeing her friends, especially Izuku, all bandaged up like this. In fact, she had actually grown quite used to the sight..heh... But that made it no more fun, or even alright. Everyone else felt the same. The same kind of hopelessness in this warehouse of an emergency center...where each and every one of them were essentially sitting ducks for the villains.
"Um.... Hello?" A little blond boy and his older sister poked their heads through the door. The boy stepped forwards, staring down at his fidgeting hands nervously. "...I- I can help them!"
"What?"
"My-my quirk is cell activation! M-maybe I can use it to heal them better!"
"..."
It would be worth a try...
The young heroes allowed the kid to sit between the two teens and place his hands on them. A green light shined around his hands. Though his face was strained as though he was really giving it his all, no one could see any big changes.
"Ochako! Iida! Everyone! Mob is back!!" Hagakure jumped through the door to tell them all.
"Wait, WHAT?!"
"Mob?" Everybody gasped. There was a blend of shock and hope. Last they had seen him, he was a little unstable. But, if he was feeling better now, then certainly this fight would turn in their favor!
Everyone raced after the invisible girl until they ran into the bowl-cut boy himself being led down the hallway. He followed Shoto, copying the elder's very stoic one-track gaze.
"MOB!!" The brunette girl exclaimed.
"I said it's Shigeo. Look for the red eyes at least." Mob-Shigeo pointed to his now bright red eyes. Everyone stepped back, a little worried now. This wasn't their Mob...and he looked super serious. His hair was still floating, and his aura was so strong, despite appearing so normal, that all within five feet of him automatically broke out with goosebumps.
"Wh..where are you guys headed?"
"Mo-Shigeo asked to see the prisoner." Shoto explained dully, leading the youngest past everyone.
"No one should be permitted to enter that place, especially someone we don't know the motives of yet!" Iida shouted over the rest. "As far as we can tell, you are a complete stranger to us, Kageyama!"
"You question my motives in a time like this?" Shigeo spun around, giving Iida one serious death glare! "What do you expect me to do? Wait around while the man who beat up Midoriya prepares for his next attack?? No... You guys said the prisoner doesn't wanna talk? Well, I know how to make him talk." Everyone's eyes widened. Was he seriously considering...?
"I'll keep an eye on him." Shoto. "But I'm curious about what kind of information we can get out of this guy.." The group broke in half so only a few followed the two to the temporary holding cell.
----------
Splash!!
"Mmgrmrmrr.." The red bandaid dude wiggled around whilst his head was dumped into the water bucket. Half the kids gasped in horror.
"WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?!" Iida was one of those who decided to follow, absolutely traumatized by the sight of his classmate waterboarding someone without an ounce of restraint.
"Relax, guys, I've seen Hanazawa do this humanely many times before." Humanely isn't exactly the word most people would use. "Now.." telepathically lifting the guy's head out of the water. "How many came with you and what are their quirks?"
"Pff, pffsh! Pff-pf-pf!" The prisoner gasped. "A-alright, I'll spill! M-my boss' name is Nine!--"
"--I don't care about names. Now just give me a number and their quirks."
"M-my boss can have nine quirks at once! He-he can also take quirks!!" Shigeo's eyes widened, accidentally dropping the man back into the bucket. Was this boss...after HIS quirk?... He clenched his fist. He was not going to lose his quirk again...no matter what it took to keep it.
"Shigeo!" Sero warned, since the man was turning blue in the bucket.
"Oh.."
GAAASP!
"WHAT THE H###, KID!?!"
Shigeo just stared, not interested in apologizing. "...And the others?"
"Other than Nine and I, there are only two more! One has some kinda chimera quirk, and the other has some kind of hair crystal thing!"
"We've already caught the Chimera." Shoto. "So, that leaves only two of them then."
"That...makes it sound a lot more manageable.."
"Maybe, but we still shouldn't underestimate them. Especially our opponents."
"I'll handle them." Shigeo dropped the prisoner on the ground this time, the guy acting quickly to take that fall on his shoulder rather than his neck. The red eyed kid pushed past the others with little effort. He didn't say anything else... He just left.
----------
Shigeo hovered high above the island with his hands in his pockets, eyes trained on the land below. The wind at this altitude was so cold. He created a small barrier around himself to trap the heat in.
...
His body was so tired. He had failed to sleep at all in the past forty-something hours. And though Shigeo was beyond powerful...he was well aware that his body had its limits.
The teen blinked and shook his head, fighting to keep himself awake. He could feel his mind slipping, made even easier by the little stimulation scanning the island provided him.
...
'There you are...' Shigeo blinked, a tad shocked to hear that familiar voice in his head. 'Thought I would find the source of my powers here.' Mob found his very core, speaking to it. Shigeo shivered. No. This was supposed to be his moment! His time to shine! Mob had had enough fun; now it was his turn! 'That was a cheap trick you pulled back there on the mountain... Tripping me up so I would be forced to use my powers?.. That's not very fair of you.'
"Won't you quit that crap already?? You know why I had to take over. I'm the only one who gets anything done around here. Unlike you, I can actually save people."
'You've hurt just as many.'
Shigeo gripped his head. "Gaah, enough with that already! Just let me do this, alright?!"
'You're being reckless by jumping right into things. At least formulate a plan. Collaborate with your friends.'
"That's easy for you to say! You rely on practically everybody! Making a fool out of yourself by being a pathetic little wimp!.. Well I'm not like you at all. Not one bit. I don't rely on others the way you do. I don't even have these so called friends you speak so highly of." Shigeo dropped his head and glared down at the dark world below. "...I can't trust anyone. I.. I just can't."
'...'
"..."
Wind whipped about the boy's clothes and hair, the cold re entering his system since in that brief moment of turmoil he had forgotten to keep up his barrier. And now he was cold again... But Shigeo didn't mind it now. It kept him awake.
'...Not trusting anyone? That isn't what you should be doing at all. That isn't normal--'
"Uuhhhgg, shut up! Will you stop talking if I promise to switch back after this??" Shigeo was done with this chat through and through. Mob was right in a way. He wasn't normal. But then again he didn't want to be normal! He saw no reason to be normal!
At least... Not many reasons..
'...Alright... I'll be quiet. But only if you promise.'
"Hhh... Alright then..." Guess he was stuck now in this strange pact with himself. But it was worth it for now at least. This mission was important, and he couldn't have Mob's emotional instability screwing things up!
It was time to defend this precious power of his, no matter the cost.
----------
"Maybe we should take turns being stupid next time." Elyse chuckled dully. It was late. Everyone was tired. But, most of the people in the large emergency center were too scared to sleep. Everyone lay or sit out on mats. Elyse and Reigen walked side by side collecting trash and other things that had been left around, Reigen holding the bag and Elyse picking things up.
"Yeah, maybe.." The blond sighed. It hurt his heart to see so many people in need. So many individuals scared for their lives, unable to go home. The power had gone out everywhere but here. He wondered if there was anyone lost, maybe terrified and out of the loop. Oh well.. The heroes had already swept the island for stragglers. Wasn't comforting to know all these heroes were just kids; and Mob's classmates for that matter! He had faith in them of course! But...this was a big challenge most professionals would struggle with.
Reigen himself was no help either, and all Elyse could do was provide some additional advice and comfort to the younger heroes.
Well... At least they weren't doing nothing.
As Reigen put the trash away and looked around for other ways to be of service, Serizawa sat beside the sleeping Teru on a thin mat. He was running out of the medication he'd brought with him to the beach and right as the pain was beginning to swell. He sat with clenched teeth, trying to ignore the stinging for now. Sand was still in his cast. He was scared to remove it, especially in front of other people.
"Sir... Do you want to go to the medical bay?" A woman asked beside him.
"N-no, I-- I'm fine..." His act wasn't convincing anyone. Another man noticed too, and him and the woman eventually swayed Serizawa to go, even acting as his crutch all the way there.
"Another patient. Is that alright?" The woman asked, one of Serizawa's arms slung over her shoulder.
"Yes yes, bring him in. Will one of you please get a bed for him?" A healing woman waved them, asking one of her own to grab more supplies.
Serizawa was set down beside the door where he leaned his back against the wall. Jolts of pain shot through him, so he gritted his teeth one more as he waited. He'd already taken his pain meds, so any more might just make him sick. Serizawa thanked his helpers, who wished him luck before leaving.
"Oh, looks like we might have to remove that cast.." The lady from before walked toward him.
"Please...don't. Last I saw it, it looked pretty bad... And th'pain's pretty bad right now too.."
"I see... I have a healing quirk. Maybe I can--?"
"Thanks, but...that won't work. The injury's much deeper than that.. I think I'll have to get it amputated when I return home..." The man dropped his head, trying to imagine what that would even be like.
"Hm... I'm sorry..."
"Maybe I can help..." A little boy helping out another random patient stood up. The poor lad looked tired..but willing to help. Serizawa's eyes widened a smidge. His aura was a little stronger than the other healers in the room.. Maybe..there was a chance?
"I...um..su-sure.. If you want to..."
"I'm happy to!" The little blond boy forgot his tiredness for a second and pranced over to the man. Laying his hand on Serizawa's exposed knee, the boy's hand started to glow a bright green. Serizawa felt something change immediately! This quirk worked a little differently than the others, didn't it? It kind of hurt at first. A lot, actually. But after the initial shock and ripple of pricking throughout his legs, followed a wave of chills that somehow made his leg feel so much better. Almost felt like his body was healing itself more like! Just very fast. When the boy at last took his hand off of Serizawa's knee, the man stared down wide eyed at his leg. It felt so much better!
He started to tear up, quick to sniffle and wipe some snot from his nose.
"A-are you okay?" The boy looked worried.
"No-yeah... I'm fine.. Better than that....Thank you... I think you just saved my leg. What's your name..kid?"
----------
There wasn't much that could save him now. The long white haired villain known as Nine lay on some couch of an abandoned house, suffering from a severe hangover caused by using his quirks too much. Terrible migraines split his head in two. He couldn't sleep, nor could he relax in any fashion. His only aid stood in the open front door, watching the night sky for trouble.
"Uuhhhgg... D### those heroes... I was expecting this to be an easy grab..." Nine lay an arm over his forehead. Sure, he could probably take them all on by himself, but the fact that those kids had managed to grab two of his followers really set him back. Maybe he'd have to take a different approach... Yeah, he'd have to be smarter about this... Since that green haired brat found out the little boy was what he was after.. it was likely they would try to use him as bait. Instead of marching through all of their traps..maybe he should take the people of this island hostage or something like that? Hmmmhh... It was likely those kids would have come up with a way to defend them too somehow. He wasn't sure how many heroes were on this island, but since they were about your average highschooler age, and there were enough to take down his teammates..it was probably one big class of heroes in training... --ugh... All of this thinking made his head ache... "Slice, what do you think--?"
"--Shh!" The woman rose one of her dagger tipped fingers to her lips. "...Looks like a person is flying over us."
"Wh???" Were those hero kids seriously looking for him at this hour?! Nine swung his feet off of the couch and sat up. To his left was a window, which he peered out. Indeed, under the moonlight was a small figure gliding through the air. It wasn't just flying aimlessly, however. No, it was headed straight toward them.
The flying figure's eyes glowed as darkness started to swirl all around it again. A wind picked up, rattling the very house the villains took cover in. "NINE!" The woman gave up on keeping quiet. It was clear the figure had locked into them as its target. She ran into the house, grabbed his wrist, and tugged him toward the back door. But he yanked his arm free from her and stood.
"There is no point in escaping!" The very foundation under them shook. And as the very powerful being approached, the man began to panic. "If they are sending their strongest, then I should take him down and teach them a lesson! Now get BACK! This place is coming down!" The woman heeded his warning and sprinted out the back door.
CRACK-BOOM!
Lightning assaulted the house, the ground, and the approaching stranger. The house caught up in flames and fell to ruin, but Nine's Hydra quirk shielded his body from any falling debris. He walked out of the house unharmed, mood thoroughly soured by this unwelcome visitor.
Shigeo fell to the ground, smoke flying from him in thin streams. His body thumped as he made contact with the earth, singed skin rolling over the grass. He groaned softly, annoyed by his own slow reaction time. Nine approached slowly, chuckling to himself by how easy that was. His eye color changed from glowing red to yellow. He was astonished by the sheer amount of power the boy possessed. No wonder his mere presence sent tingles down his skin. His aura alone was larger than a sky scraper! Was that all to his quirk? Just pure, raw energy??
"...Well this is interesting..." Nine mused. Shigeo picked himself up, darkness starting to swirl around him again and hide his form. "You look more like a villain than a hero.. And what great power you have... I'm surprised I haven't seen you on the news." Nine's weight easily pushed past the gusts of wind Shigeo made, half of that force due to pure energy. Shigeo lifted his hand, stopping the man mid step.
"Don't come any closer." He growled. Nine took a step back, so Shigeo released him.
"You know, if you ever decided to join our cause, you would be rewarded greatly." Okay?.. So maybe this guy wasn't trying to steal his quirk?
93%
"And what is your cause?"
"To create a new world. One where the most powerful live on top."

Shigeo felt, oddly...unmoved by that. At least not as much as he had expected. It just...didn't exactly make sense to him.
But he liked the sound of it.
Never having to put his powers away again. People acknowledging and respecting him for them, even.
Sounded a lot like what he wanted already.
But there was just one..small..problem.
81%
Nine couldn't tell if the boy liked his plan or not. His eyes glowed a faint red and his hair still floated, but all the stabbing power, wind, and dark swirling energy had left him. A good sign, then?
"I'll bet you've been hiding those powers all your life. Treated like an outcast every time you used them. Judging by how powerful you are, I bet it's safe to say you were even taught to hate your own quirk." The man then extended his hand out to the teen, eyes shifting to a yellowish green "In the world we make, you won't have to follow those idiotic laws. You won't be forced to abide by any stupid rules. You'll be free. Free to do whatever you like."
That..

sounded...

so nice.

But something about it didn't make any sense. And he knew better than to touch Nine's hand.

Mob's hair flopped back into place. His eyes returned to their usual, really dark charcoal brown, and he stared up at Nine with a blank expression.
"What about everything that power can't help?" Compared to his alter, Mob's voice was much softer, calmer in a way.
"Huh?" Nine's brows creased just slightly, the color on his eyes slowly changing back to red.
"I'm saying a society does not run on quirks. It runs on people. The right people. If you were to make all physically powerful people the leaders, people who only know how to fight, then how would we get any food, or water, or anything really?"
"Um, well.." Where was this rationality coming from all of a sudden!?
"And what if you someday lost your powers, or were disabled in an accident? That would just put you back down at the bottom." Glaring. "No one would care to help you then.."
"Ughh..." Nine dropped his shoulders, diverting his gaze. "I see you do not understand the basic concept of the new world..." A storm formed over their heads. 'If I can take this kid out, then I can use him as a hostage. Everyone else will be forced to hand the kid over!'
Thunder crackled in the sky. The darkened clouds swirled and spiraled down towards them. Mob stared up in amazement at the flashing lights and dark purple hue. There was something hypnotizing about it... Such power...
"MOB!!" There called a familiar voice.
Boom!
BOOM!
And then a familiar explosion.
Bakugo and Izuku, side by side, leapt over the trees and skidded to a halt before the destroyed house and its lot.
"Slice!"
"Already invested!~" The red haired woman pounced between the new arrivals and her boss. Licking her lips, "I've been hankering for a good fight lately~ either of you able to scratch that itch?~"
Bakugo whispered to his classmate with a disgusted look on his face. "I hate the way she's talking but she's also speaking my language!" Both teens prepared for a fight, crouching into battle stances despite still wearing little more than some bandages and thrown in clothes.
"Unfortunately for you, this'll be the end of your field trip, heroes!" Slice pounced, and the fight was on between the three.
Nine turned to Mob with a stern look in his eye. While Mob stared at his friends fighting, wondering what he should do to help, a long, blue dragon of energy gripped onto the teen with its jaws and slammed him into the ground. Mob gritted his teeth and coughed. That was unexpected.
Another "dragon" like the first appeared, slamming Mob around and trying to tear him apart. Mob was insanely durable though. He could handle this. What he was really worried about were his friends.
"Gha!" A long needle of red hair shot through Izuku's arm like a bullet. The teen grabbed his bleeding arm and grunted. Bakugo stood on the opposite end of the field, blood dripping from a few of his own newly acquired injuries!

'N-n-no... I- I can't..let...my...emotions win! I ca-n't let them take over!'
BAM!
Mob's own body was smashed into the rubble of the fallen house, splinters breaking through to and cutting his skin. Mob wheezed. He needed to use his powers if he wanted to win this! But, doing that might mean losing his very mind to "???"!
Mob coughed up dust, then screamed, "YOU GUYS NEED TO RUN, PLEASE!!"
"YOU CAN'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO, D#####!!" Well Bakugo had made up his mind. Izuku could get a glimpse of the full picture, however. He knew Mob was strong, and he knew that Mob hated using his quirk in front of others. So...in a way, they were only holding him back by staying here.
"KACHAN, MAYBE WE SHOULD LEAVE!?"
"NOT UNTIL THIS B#### IS IN THE GROUND, DEKU!!"
"Oh how I love the passion!" The woman grinned like a child on Christmas morning.. with an evil twist to it. "But so far you boys have yet to lay a finger on me!!" Her hair struck again, this time launching her quills in all directions. Bakugo took a hit to his shoulder and thigh. Deku...straight to the heart.
The greenette toppled over like a great tower, falling onto his back, knocked out in an instant. Once Bakugo noticed, his eyes widened in shock.
"Let's be heroes together, Kachan!!"
"Why are you being so mean, Kachan..?"
"..Do you need any help?"
BOOM-BU-BOOM-BA-BOOM!
Bakugo screamed like a freaking maniac at the woman, charging her full force. "RRRRAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!" His very hands sparked with the rage he felt.
Mob witnessed the fall of his friend as well. Such a precise hit. How could something like that be mere coincidence?!
Was he dead???

Mob's eyes blazed a bright white, roaring like a fire. Black energy swirled around his body again, without thought rising into the air until he was upright again. Nine grimaced and shot finger lasers at the teen, all of which were deflected by the boy's shield. He couldn't take his eyes off of Izuku, fallen and lifeless he was.
Was this...a... a dead body..? Of someone be could consider a friend?!
"Uuhhg, boy did this body take a beating.." A new voice tore open Izuku's lips. The greenette opened his eyes and looked around. Carefully, he sat up and scowled at the battleground. His cheeks held two pink dots, and his expression was similar to... to...
Dimple..?
Dimple, now possessing Izuku, picked himself up off of the floor. His right hand jumped to the biggest source of pain in his body, the large red quill stabbing through his chest. "D###, this thing is-- drat.. That doesn't look good." Staring down at the quill.
"Dimple??" The particles broke away from Mob's form for just a moment.
"Hey there, bud!" Dimple waved. "We'll have to catch up later. If this spike is pulled out prematurely, I'm afraid it'll kill your friend!" Bakugo crashed against the ground not far away, kicking up a huge cloud of dust.
"What the crap, Deku??" Didn't look all that surprised to see his friend standing again. He jumped back into the fight, fists blazing as before. Unfortunately, the woman heard his spiel as well.
"I don't know why you're talking in the third person now, but I'd be delighted to speed things up and end you now!" She targeted Dimple/Izuku now.
"S###! I shouldn't have said anything!" Watching Dimple's fighting style through Izuku's body was rather entertaining. Unfortunately, using the boy's own quirk proved fruitless. He did nothing but break the teen's bones. "How the h### has this kid not broken all of his bones already?!" The spirit inside him griped, growling while his right arm hung limply from his shoulder. Bakugo fought extra hard to protect his friend. Of course he had questions, but for now all he knew was that if this woman reached his classmate, he was as good as dead.
And Mob? Well, he...
....Tried not to explode....
