Chapter 22
Time check: Monday, September 19th 7:47 am.
Adore's POV:
This weekend was fun, but now it's a Monday, which means it's back to school. I feel so well rested, seeing as though after Dela dropped me off, I just slept my ass off. I bet a lot of the others beg to differ.
As I'm at my locker getting out everything I need for today, I feel a presence behind me, which is strange. This year, as well as last year, I'm the first one up here at the lockers, since everybody else is in the lunch room for breakfast. I take out my headphones and turn around to see Laganja standing there. I forgot all about our fight, but now that I remember, I'm back on petty mode. I slam my locker shut, lock it, and try to avoid her, but she pulls my shirt, causing me to stop and look at her face to face. "I'm late for class." I lie. "Classes don't start for another 15 minutes, Adore. Can we please talk?" she asks. "Save it, because I'm tired of all of the petty fights that we have, and then we talk it out. This is the last time, Laganja." I say, firmly. I hug her and she hugs me back. We let go, and she says "I'm sorry for the way I confronted you. It won't happen again." "The way you confronted me? What about what you said?" "I kinda meant what I said. You can't get angry with me for having an opinion." She may have a point. I roll my eyes and sigh. I was low key looking for a reason to be upset. "I guess your right." She smiles and hugs me. I have such a loving heart, and everybody knows that.
As she lets go, and walks away, I plug my headphones back in my ears and walk into Literature class. I smile at Ms. Visage, but she doesn't look surprised to see me, as, like I stated before, I always come to class before everybody else. I sit in my seat I sat in last week, and pull out my notebook and just start touching up on an old picture. Although I've been working on this picture for about 2 years now, I can't figure out what it is, but I've convinced myself to see this picture through.
Time check: 8:05 am.
Class is starting, and everyone is gathering in the classroom, well everyone except Dela and Bianca. I wonder why they're close to being late again. Well my wonders are put to rest, as they walk in the door, just barely before the bell rang. They walk over to the seats near me, but are stopped right in the center of the room by Ms. Visage. "No need sit down, ladies. In fact, everybody needs to get up; everybody is getting new assigned seats." she says. I'm so confused. "You said that the seats we were in were permanent for the rest of the year." I respond. "Yeah, well I'm switching them up right now, Ms. Delano. Now stand up." she says, all while not up from her clipboard. I stand up, gather up all of my things, and move to the right corner in the back, while she starts calling names and pointing at empty seats. Eventually, she gets to my name. She put moved me from all the way in the back to all the way up in the front with Magnolia and Joslyn. I guess that isn't a big problem-- Magnolia is very reserved, and Joslyn is the the opposite, but in a good way.
I see that Dela is sat with Bianca and this girl named Violet at the table to my left. She must be new because I didn't see her last week on the first day. The bunch of new girls that just arrived today are gonna be so upset when they have to stay for office hours to recover all the shit they missed last week. Poor them; they don't know how this school is BIG on studies, they're not used to it yet.
Once everybody is seated, the class lesson begins, and we started to read this poem "The Poem of Life" (by Patricia A. Flemmings if you're curious). To be honest, this poem is so confusing and boring, it makes me sleepy just thinking about it. But I guess I'll just have to suck it up and read it because I'm trying to maintain my good grades.
Time check: 8:49 am.
Every time I look up, while we're either reading or writing, I can only see Bianca. Of course she's hard into her studies, so that's why she won't notice me. I'm kind of still hooked up on being rejected by her, even when I told her the truth. Can't she see that we belong together? I mean, we had a toxic relationship, but the love I have for her is everlasting... Who am I? I silently laugh to myself. Suddenly, Ms. Visage blindsides me with a question. "Well, Adore?" she asks. I hear snickers coming from Dela's table. I see that Dela and Bianca sarcastically giving me the thumbs up. I don't know what's funny. I'm sorry can you repeat that?" I ask the teacher. "I said what do you think the overall theme of the poem is?" she responds. I look over the poem again, and I can't remember shit. So... I'm gonna do what I do best: crap out a masterpiece. "Well, I think I may disagree with you on this, but I think the theme is that not everything can be looked at in a positive way, and that giving up isn't so bad sometimes..."
Suddenly the bell rings, and I am so thankful. I smile and get up to head to the door, but I'm pulled back by Ms. Visage telling me to stay. I walk over to her, where Dela and Bianca stand waiting to be talked to by her as well. She stands up and looks us in the eye. "I just wanted to tell you three that you have detention with me today after school since you missed detention last week." she says. We all nod and walk out the class. We part our separate ways, as they go to math, and I go to science.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
OK, so I just realized that the classes I put the queens in, aren't typical 12th grade classes. I just copied my schedule and put them in (I'm in 9th, that is why they're not typical 12th grade classes).
Also, everything that happens is based on actual events. That's why a little too detailed... I think. Although some parts were... "fabricated" sort of, to make those shit more interesting.
