Patton POV

"Hello Sunflower." Said a voice from behind me. I turned to see Damian standing there with a smirk.

"Hiya Damian!"  I said cheerfully while shutting my locker.  "How are you liking school so far?"

"It's decent."  He answered.

"Well decent is better than bad so thats one good thing."  I told him.  He smiled softly in acknowledgment.

"I'm gonna go see my friend Logan, wanna come with me?"  I asked.

"I have nothing better to do until class starts in 20 minutes."  Damian answered with a shrug.  I smiled and grabbed his hand before skipping down the hall towards Logan's locker.

I waved when I passed Roman at his locker, happy to see he was back at school.  That means Virgil is back too.  They only missed one day, but it's always sucks to catch up in classes the next day.

I dropped Damian's hand and quickly ran over to Logan when I saw him.

"Hi Logie!"  I squealed, pulling Logan into a tight hug when I reached him.  Logan smiled gently down at me but otherwise didn't return the hug.

I let go and turned to see Damian watching with a jealous look in his eyes.  Is he okay?

"Oh! Damian, you should meet my other friends!" I said suddenly, pulling away from Logan. "I'll text them all so we can meet outside after school."

"That sounds lovely." Damian said through gritted teeth. "I'll see you two after school." With that he turned and headed away.

"That was quite odd." Said Logan.

"Yeah, I hope he's okay."

"Based on his actions, body posture, and voice I would believe that he was jealous of the attention you were showing me." Logan said matter of factly.

"Why would he be jealous?" I asked, starting to frown.

"That, I'm not sure of."

Virgil POV
"Why does Patton want us to meet him outside again?" I asked Roman, as we headed towards were Patton told us to meet. "I have better things to do after school than socialize."

"Not sure, something about he made a new friend he wanted to introduce us to." Mumbled Roman, looking briefly at his phone.

We reached the meeting spot with was a wooden picnic table under a tree. Other students were milling around, but they weren't paying attention to us.

Remy and Emile were sitting on the table, well Remy was sitting on the table while swinging his heeled feet over the side.

"Hey guys." Roman said, getting their attention.

"Oh Patton told you to come here too?" Said Emile, turning towards us with a smile.

"Yeah." Answered Roman. Roman sat down on at the table next to Emile. I leaned against the tree.

"Anything new with you two?" Roman asked.

"Actually," Remy said with a smirk. He leaned over and pulled Emile into a quick kiss. "We're dating now."

"Oh my, gosh peck, yes!" Said Roman excitedly while flailing his hands. I just smiled, happy for them but not happy enough to say anything.

"We've been dating since last Friday." Said Emile while resting his head against remy's leg.

"I am so happy for you guys!" Squealed Roman.

"Hiiiiii!" Came Patton's voice in the direction of the school. I turned to see him skipping over to us. Logan and another person followed behind him.

Instantly I tensed up, recognizing who the other person was. No. It can't be. Why is he here?

My breath catches in my throat.  He's here.  I can't decide if I'm happy or not.  He left without a goodbye.  He disappeared without a warning.  Just like everyone else in my life.  But I loved him...

It's been almost two years now since I've last seen him.  I don't know what to do or say.  Do I trust him?  He abandoned me.

Damian...

"So I bet your wondering why I called you all here." Patton said with a laugh.

"Nice theatrics," Roman said while laughing along with Patton. "But who is this?"

"This is Damian." Said Patton. My heartbeat sped up as he said his name. Damian smiled and waved at everyone.

He paused and his soft smile fell when we made eye contact.  My gaze hardened on him, anger, sadness and yet happiness filled me.

"Virgil...?"  He whispered.

"Holy shit."  I breathed before hardening my voice in anger.  "What the fuck are you doing here Damian."

"I...I didn't know you went to school here..."  He trailed off.  Sadness, regret, fear, and happiness flickered through me.  I could tell Damian was going through the same thing.

"Why are you here?"  I asked out of anger.  I wanted answers and I wanted them now.  "And where the fuck have you been?"

"Are you angry with me?"  He asked nervously.

"Obviously."  I said.  "Yeah I'm totally just gonna forgive you and fall right back into your arms after two fucking years.  Especially after how things ended."  I hissed the last part.  I wanted him to beg for forgiveness.  To grovel for it.

"I'm sorry V,"  He whispered.  "I didn't want to leave.  I never intended to hurt you."  I burst out laughing.

"Bull- fucking -shit." I growled.

"Your hands aren't clean either," Damien muttered, his gaze going dark. "Stop playing the victim."

"You fucking abandoned me!" I screamed at him.

"I had no control over it!" He yelled back.

"You...You wouldn't even let Ash explain to me why you left," I argued. "You obviously knew it was going to happen."

"Nightingale..." He mumbled. Instant rage filled me. I pointed a menacing finger at him.

"Do NOT call me that," I seethed. "You lost that right when you left."

"I couldn't do anything about it!" He argued.  "I had no control over it!"

"No note! No message! No heads up! You. Just. Left." I growled, tons of memories that I had tried so hard to bury were resurfacing.

"I didn't know either, okay?!" He yelled. "I didn't want to leave, trust me."

"I'm not believing you." I said lowly.

"Why?"

"You are a compulsive liar Damien, or have you forgotten?" I said.

"I've been getting better."

"Bullshit."

"What about you than Virgil?" Damien said, crossing his arms. "What about all your issues? Have you gotten any better? Because, if you haven't, you can't say that.  You are just as fucked up mentally as I am."

"Don't."

"You spent, what? Three months there? I had to live my entire fucking life there." He said lowly. "Don't act like your better than me because you were able to go home."

"You did too."

"I got transferred." He argued.

"Bullshit."

"I did!" He yelled.

"Prove it."

"There is no way I can do that unless you wanna explain to all your friends here how the hell we know each other." Damien said, making me freeze.

Shit. Everyone's still here. And watching. Listening. They could find out everything. That can't happen.

"No one needs to know what happened between us." I whispered. Damien nodded along.

"I'm sorry, for everything." Damien said slowly. "What we had..." But he trailed off, obviously unsure of how to say it.

"What we had was toxic as hell during that last month Damian."  I told him.  "We hurt each other, a lot."

"I know, and I don't want to be in a relationship anymore."  He said, actually agreeing with me.

"Good."  I said.  The anger drained out of me.  I took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry for everything I did."  Damian told me.

"Your lying." I whispered.

"No I'm not Nightengale." He said, causing me to snap my head back up. Anger filled me again.

I walked towards him and grabbed him by the collar. I pulled him downwards and slapped him. Hard.

"Do.  Not.  Call. Me. That." I growled.

I let go of him. He stumbled backwards a bit, holding his cheek. Than I realized I had hit the scarred up side of his face. The makeup was all smudged now. A little bit of the scar on his cheek was visible now.

"I guess I deserved that." He said with an awkward laugh. He rubbed his cheek, it portably still stung. I laughed a bit too before pulling him into a hug.

"Sorry." I mumbled. "I'm just feeling a lot right now. I didn't expect to see you today or ever again." He returned the hug but than pushed me away.

"Just friends this time?" He asked, putting his hand out.

"Just friends this time." I echoed. We shook on it. I pulled away and rubbed the back of my head awkwardly.

"I'm sorry for what I said to you all those years ago..." I mumbled. "It was uncalled for and what probably what caused all of this."

"No, lets just blame my dad for being a homophobic asshole," He said. "I'm sorry for...hitting you..." He said awkwardly. "It was hella wrong of me considering your past...I should've had better control over my anger."

"It's okay, I understand that." I told him. "I shouldn't have said what I did...considering your past."

"I forgive you...can you forgive me?" He asked, a pleading look in his eyes.

"It might take some time to warm up to you again, but yeah, I guess I do." I told him. "Now wanna actually tell me why you left?"

"My parents transferred me when I told them about you, it had nothing to do with our fight." Damian explained. "And than I got to go to an actual school for my senior year, but got kicked out of that one, so now I'm here."

"What even happened to your parents...what your dad did..." I mumbled, unsure how he'd react to those memories.

"Dad's in prison for 10 years on child abuse, child neglect, and attempted murder." Damien said with a nonchalant shrug. "Mom divorced him and got all the money and custody of me. So, that's why I'm actually able to be here. Mom wanted to out of that place and in an actual school."

"That's sucks," I mumbled. "The Dad thing. I'm glad your mom cares."

"Yeah me too." He agreed with a small smile.

"Can someone please explain how you two know each other?" Asked Patton. I tensed up, remembering that Roman, Logan, Patton, Emile, and Remy just watched all of that.

"That's a story for another day." I said. "But for now, I'd like to catch up with Damian."

I grabbed Damian's hand and pulled him away with me.
