Virgil POV
"Please don't make me go back in there," I begged Roman.

"You have to go back to school," Roman told me sternly.

"I can't," I chocked out. I was on the verge of a panic attack or a mental breakdown.

Probably both.

"You can't skip school," He said. "The doctors said you'll be able to go back to school once winter break was over."

I stared at the building, wishing it would go away. I don't want to go back there. It feels as if break ended way too quickly.

"C'mon," Roman said, getting out of his car.

He walked around to my side and opened the door. Then he grabbed the crutches from the backseat and handed them to me.

With a long sigh, I took the crutches from Roman. He had to help me out of the car but I've about mastered walking with crutches now.

Quinn was coming to school today too. He still isn't talking much but otherwise, he's healed. I can only imagine how much Damien is struggling to get Quinn into school today.

"I don't want to do this," I complained. I limped quickly after Roman, angry that I wasn't moving as quickly as I used to.

"You can't miss school," Roman told me again. "You're not getting out of this."

I let out another sigh. A wave of anxiety passed through me the second I stepped inside the school.

Roman led the way towards my locker, making sure that people didn't bump into me. It took way too long in my opinion to get to my locker.

I gave Roman my locker combination and waited for him to open it. The only good thing that comes with this is that Roman gets to walk me to each class because I can't carry any books.

"Whats class is first period for you?" He asked.

"Honors English," I told him. "I've told you this princey."

"Well now you know why I'm not in any honors classes," Roman laughed.

He pulled my English binder, the English textbook, and the book we were reading in class out of my locker.

"I literally only made it into honors English and that's it," I said, laughing a bit.

"And Logan McSmartyPants probably takes every honors class he can," He teased.

"Wouldn't be surprised," I laughed before turning and limping my way down the hallway towards the English classroom.

"I get to go to my vocals class first," Roman said happily. "Great way to start the day."

"I just take study halls," I mumbled.

"Those are a waste of time," He said, turning up his nose a bit. "You should take an elective."

"I'm not you with music and theater and I'm not Quinn with all his crazy good art," I said. "I took an art fundamentals class my freshman year to get it out of the way."

Roman just sighed, tsk-ing at my softly. We reached the English classroom too quickly. He turned to give me a quick kiss before opening the door for me.

"I'll be back by the end of the period," He promised.

I nodded, trying to remind myself that there won't be a single point in the hallways today that I'll be alone. Jackson won't be able to get to me.

Hobbling into the classroom, I headed to the teacher to explain my situation. Good news; I got to sit in the special reading chair since I was in a cast. Bad news; talking to the teacher made my anxiety skyrocket.

Class went by fairly easy. This is an easy course for me. Reading and comprehension isn't difficult for me. Neither is vocabulary and literary terms. Grammar is what always messes me up.

We were reading Beowolf, which is supposedly the first book ever written. Not told, but actually written down on paper. So far, the book wasn't making much sense to me.

I didn't like the glances I kept getting from my classmates. It set off my anxiety. They were whispering to each other about it. Stupid rumors about how I got hurt and the usual mean slurs.

Finally, the bell rang, I took my time getting my things ready, knowing I couldn't leave without Roman.

Right as the last few people were entering, Roman pushed his way and over to me. He gave me a charming smile and helped me to my feet.

The teacher wished me well, but I don't think I've ever spoken to her before this day. I followed Roman back to my locker, trying my best to not smack someone with my crutches.

"Next class?" Roman asked.

"Study hall," I said with a smile.

"I have to go to trigonometry," He sighed. "Aka Hell."

"Yeah, can't help you with numbers Ro," I told him sympathetically.

Roman just laughed and walked me to my study hall in the library. I found myself a nice corner on the second floor in a back corner to curl up with a book.

I choose Six of Crows. Sounds interesting enough. The book looks cool too with its black pages.

Study hall passed by quickly. Than not so quickly followed by trigonometry and than Spanish 4. Not my strongest subjects, but teachers were nicer to me than usual upon seeing my broken leg.

But now Roman was walking me to lunch. So I'm thankfully halfway through the day. I practically collapsed into the chair.

"I fucking hate school," I grumbled.

"Mood," Remy, Quinn, and Damien all agreed. We all laughed a bit after that.

Roman sat down next to me, making sure I ate my food. I sighed some more, nibbling on some cheez-its.

"Hey Virgil," Quinn mumbled, getting my attention. His voice was incredibly soft but almost everyone noticed because he hasn't talked much.

"Yeah?" I said.

"Does the offer still stand?" He asked timidly.

"Yeah, you can come by after school," I told him. "See what you think of the place."

"What's going on?" Patton asked.

"Quinn might move in with me now, since we're both kinda parentless adults now." I explained.

"Oh that sounds nice!" Emile said, smiling at us.

"I'm surprised you aren't staying with Evan or Damien," Remy mumbled. "Or you with Roman."

"It's just a court thing, I get the house, I don't feel like selling it, so Quinn's going to move in with each other," I told him. "And sometimes boyfriends need breaks from each other."

"You wound me Virgil," Roman said dramatically.

"When is the court case?" Logan questioned.

"Later this week," I answered softly. I don't like the idea of having to be in a court and testify against my dad.

"Has anyone actually seen Jackson today?" Roman asked.

Everyone shrugged and answered 'no'. I was surprised myself that I haven't seen Jackson all day yet.

"This is strange," Emile said, voicing our thoughts.

"He hasn't gone after you again?" I asked Quinn.

"I've been walking Quinn to classes," Damien answered before Quinn could say anything.

"But you're making yourself tardy for all your classes," Quinn complained. "You're going to get a detention."

"You really think that I care about getting a detention?" Damien asked with a 'duh' face.

Quinn just sighed and shook his head a bit.  We all laughed a little at that.

"Maybe things will finally start getting better,"  Patton said with a hopeful smile.

"Hey faggots!"  Screamed Jackson's voice.
